Gakken85 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I grew up with Robotech, but I don't defend it. haha. Quote

azrael Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 if this comes to the big screen.... imagine the toys .. new toys of the franchise.. That won't be bad because then they actually have something that isn't a Macross toy. Ya know, something NEW. Quote

redpapermen Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I know this thread is old however Robotech getting Leonardo DiCaprio would be the best thing that could happen to the movie: http://geektyrant.com/news/2013/7/24/leonardo-dicaprio-turns-down-star-wars-for-robotech Why? He's an A-lister, a handful of hollywood actors, that can actually make the film happen, and I really hope it does. Plus DiCaprio is one of the greatest actors of our generation - feel free to disagree. Also check out the director reel from attached director mathieu - Robotech (Macross?) has some potential to at least be a good looking film; http://www.anonymouscontent.com/commercials/commercial-directors/nic-mathieu Especially this ad: http://www.adforum.com/people/nic-mathieu-40262/work/19609 Quote
peter Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Thread back from the dead! 2 posts....so welcome to Macrossworld? Quote
Duke Togo Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Leo has six projects in development, and none of them are Robotech. Keep dreaming. Quote
Keith Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 There have now been 4 Transformers movies (well, in a couole months anyway), just as many Akira live action movie pre-pre-production restarts, and a live action Yamato movie, all since this was announced. Wjat will it take to make people realize it's not gonna happen, Avatar 2 being finished? Hell, we're even getting new Stat Wars movies. Quote
Roy Focker Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Leo is how big of a star? I doubt that he'll even wipe is butt with Robotech. Quote
Dynaman Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Leo might work on RT, if it EVER gets going, but to have not worked on Star Wars (TODAY, that film is shooting in the next couple of months) so he could be in RT (which has NO shooting schedule yet) is beyond unbelievable. Quote
Gubaba Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Leonardo DiCaprio interested in Robotech movie: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/24/leonardo-dicaprio-interested-in-robotech-movie Please no, I want this to die. skullmilitia Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 In this case, there being no news, is the best news one can get. Hopefully it will stay in pre-production hell until an asteroid hits the earth And wipes out the spieces. I only hope any script is vaporized so a future race Of intelligent beings don't end up reading the crap they were thinking of producing. Quote

Einherjar Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Anyone watch Spoils of Babylon? That apparently was a bigger priority than this for Tobey Maguire. Quote

Tochiro Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 The LAM just isnt going to happen. It's nice to want things, but given the amount of time that has elapsed, not to mention the parties involved, it just isnt going to happen. And even if it did, I doubt it would be even half as good as THIS: Quote

No way Tochiro, all these years of awkward silence and overblown rumors milked by gullible middle aged adults on the Internet is totally just how Hollywood works! Quote
skullmilitia Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Don't believe anyone when they say Robotech, it's a 30 year old dead franchise, clinging to life by some sad and lonely lawyers pretending to run a business. I wish someone would buy the rights to Robotak, just to put it to rest. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Wow, Twilitech and porn stars. These are dark days on the forums. As much as I'd love to see Macross become more prominent in American pop culture, I really hope this never gets made. I don't want HG to achieve any form of success whatsoever from this license, at all, ever. I hope that within my lifetime, they will become financially incapable of holding the license and fold, taking Robotech with them into the annals of cartoon history, opening the door for the true Macross Series to be made available and uninhibited internationally. I figure they had their moment 30 years ago. Time to let go. Edited April 11, 2014 by M'Kyuun Quote
Mr March Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Apparently there are new rumblings...http://www.slashfilm.com/robotech-live-action-movie/ Sounds exactly like the pedigree I'd expect Quote

TangledThorns Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) As much as I'd love to see a Robotech film I don't see this happening. If folk didn't support a new series on Kickstarter then why would they even want to see the film? Just sayin'. Edited February 5, 2015 by TangledThorns Quote
azrael Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The Live-Action rights will expire in 3 years. That gives them just enough time to make some crap and hold the rights. In fact, they're at the 5-year-renewal mark. I was wondering when WB would drag this back out. Quote
Einherjar Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) With all due respect, that is not real news. It's just more people for a certain deranged old guy to cyberstalk in 2015. In fact, from the previous posts on this page of the thread, we went through this almost a year ago with the last not news. And apparantly, again a year before that one when the thread started!
