ewilen Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Back when the promo clips for M0 ep. 3 appeared, I also saw and saved a promo for what looks like a low-tech scifi cartoon (very realistic looking space suits, a ship similar or identical to the Space Shuttle, etc.). The transliterated name is, I guess, Puratenesu, but I haven't been able to guess what that might really be. Does anyone know what this is, and if it's any good? Sorry, I don't have the link anymore. JELEINEN Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Actually, re-reading your post, I'm going to go on a limb and say that it's definitely Planetes. Excellent series. Near future SF based around space 'garbage collectors' (even the smallest bit of debris can be dangerous when you're in orbit moving at thousands of miles per hour). For the most part, the physics are spot on (it's an NHK show, so whadya expect?), but the SF is more background to some really great character interaction. The best comparison I can think of would be to the Patlabor OVAs/TV series. The manga is also really good, but more focused on one character and much more serious. It irks me to no end though that the morons at TP decided to use sigmas as "E's" on the cover. Especially when it's a Greek word to begin with. Quote
ewilen Posted January 29, 2004 Author Posted January 29, 2004 Yup, that's it! Of course, it would have helped if I'd rewatched the clip all the way through, since it has the title (in Greek) at the end. Am currently enjoying Patlabor TV, so I think this will go on my watch list. Thanks much! Quote
