To be honest...I was shocked mine made it to me fairly unscathed....the Three Zero shipping box is essentially just barely enough to fit the toy box... ...with a thin piece of cardboard on the top and bottom for added "protection"..... I have to give credit to DHL for handling it with care... Quote

It looked like someone sat on the box. The way the sides were crumpled, I had a hard time opening the product box. Luckily after inspection all the parts inside were fine. But I was a bit worried Quote

While your stuff was spared this time, it makes me worry for your sake the next time they ship one of your collectibles using them! O.O Quote

O.O I was actually more worried about this since it is just a styrene kit, I thought for sure something was gonna be damaged with that thin model box all squished inside Quote

jenius Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Aw man, wish they would have it at SDCC, I would totally grab one! Quote
jvmacross Posted July 9 Posted July 9 The Voltron shown in the pic above is listed on their website...the "weathered" VF-1J will probably get listed too at some point... Quote
Radioguy Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Wishful thinking on my part, or does the panel lining look less bold? (Fingers crossed) Quote
MKT Posted July 10 Posted July 10 (edited) I actually rather have a weathered version instead of the normal, just so to have more differentiation between the scores of other Rick / Hikaru 1Js that I have in other scales. On other hand, the weathered edition as TZ is showing now looks a bit different from what we normally see as such on other toys. Here it just looks dirty. Edited July 10 by MKT Quote

(Fingers crossed) Panel lining looks the same...the "weathering" actually just looks like a diecast toy that has been handled for several years...looks like it just has paint rubbed off especially by the bottom of the legs...poorly executed....but it's just a prototype so hopefully they can make it look decent upon final version.... MKT Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Ok, the product page for Weathered 1J is now up: https://www.threezerohk.com/product/robo-dou-robotech-vf-1j-veritech-rick-hunter-weathered-edition/ Limited 2000 units. TZ must have done great sales for the regular version, and enough POs for Roy to settle on this quantity. Man, I feel bad for KC - they struggle to move even 100 units on some of their releases. Wing angle spot-shots makes it looks like missiles still installed backwards. Nevertheless, hopefully they have fixed their instruction manual regarding proper non-Robotech missile-placements... I thought the same thing... looks like it's just dirty. The official pics make it look almost like it's battle-damaged instead of just plain weathered like the old Yamato weathered versions. Kinda like this custom by @winterdyne below which I sorta copied when I had my extremely yellowed VF-1J custom painted. Edited July 11 by m0n5t3r Quote

I wonder if TZ plan on releasing weathered versions of ALL the valks they bring out? I don't really care for it myself and don't need extras. Just happy to get a standard version of the VF-1J RH. Raikkonen Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) Never liked this type of weathering. Looks too much like quick amateur dry brushing with a few sponge dubs. Edited July 11 by Raikkonen Quote

Doubt it when looking at their other licenses. Their repaints tend to be single event period exclusives. I would only budge for stealth, camo, low vis, and etc repaints... those interest me. MKT Posted July 11 Posted July 11 One of well-known TF toy reviewer. Pretty cringe the way he manhandles the toy and forces parts to move, but it seems he does that for every toy, that he actually has a scoreboard for 'days without breaking something' lol. Good news is the toy held up. Quote
General Rasp Posted July 11 Posted July 11 I liked the review because he focused on the actual toy aspects (transforming, posing, etc.). It is good to see a transforming figure that can actually transform with being super careful with it. Quote
treatment Posted July 11 Posted July 11 not like BSF really cares and stuff, but he, too, successfully did the Robotech thing on this... Quote
jvmacross Posted July 11 Posted July 11 The "fists" can be folded into the arms to maintain as much "perfect transformation" as possible...have not tried with the other hands but they just seem too big to fit inside the arms....can check later... IMO...the lack of clicking during transformation makes it more enjoyable and stress free....It is my favorite to transform of all the recent modern DX Macross VF-1's...once placed into each mode it is very solid....I don't have a scale but it seems as heavy as a 1/55 to me...good amount of metal but guessing it must be mostly internal... I wonder who will be the first company that will come with little extra gimmick bit for battle damaged VF-1s Arms would need a bit of re-engineering heads are already ball jointed on most toys. Quote
