So with the tariffs and the parcel freeze, can we still expect the VF~1S Roy this month? Also, how do you think this will affect Max and Miria Veritechs? I have a feeling we’re all gonna get notices soon that the preorder price just increased.

They ship with Fedex if you buy direct, is that impacted? Roy is on boats already for other stores.

Am I an outlier?  I've had my Roy for weeks now.  Ordered through ShowZStore.  [I didn't trust ShowZ at first just because I thought the name was weird.  They've been aces with every one of my purchases thus far.  YMMV.]

Showzstore is well known (especially in th Transformers and TF 3rd party community) and reliable. I think this is the first in hand photo I've seen.  Glad you got yours early!  I went with a US retailer this time as  I was not in a rush and price was similar.  Let us know how it is!

Most of the tariffs were dropped, but there have been some odd things going on at the ports. I guess a couple of major smuggling rings were busted recently and inspections may be longer and more intense.

So no freeze on parcels but probably get notices for additional charges.

I know they froze the tariffs to Mexico and Canada for like a month, but I haven't heard anything about China tariffs. I remember seeing the news about the smuggling ring bust in Long Beach.

If the tariffs go both ways, which  do....then probably...it really depends on what is covered in the Chinese side of their tariffs...

The busts likely have nothing to do with the recent usps shenanigans....those busts were part of a months-long investigation from before all the tariff nonsense....

Yeah, but it they could easily put extra delays on receiving goods at the port. Some of the truckers where I work have been complaining about longer waits and boats waiting extra long for check ins at the docks.

Doubtful there was any measurable impact for the average consumer...but I always order my stuff and have it shipped via EMS or some other express shipping....I guess to know if things have taken longer to receive we'd need to hear from folks here that go with the proverbial Chinese slow boat to determine if shipping via boat has been any slower to them as of the last year or so....from casual posts I have read on here folks seem to be receiving their stuff in the expected amount of time, some even said they had received their items quicker if you can believe that....so go figure...

For anyone curious about the Weathered Edition, I made a video visual comparison:

And I've uploaded the pictures to anymoon.com if you prefer that format:

ThreeZero-VF-1J-Rick-Hunter-Weathering-1

While it's not the most logical or realistic weathering, I found it fun! I like the burn effect on the feet.

Yeah the weathering doesn't look that good, and I'm not really particularly fussy about weathering realism.

Also just catching up on some reviews for Roy's 1S.. Kudos to ThreeZero for fixing the ultra stiff shoulders for it and the 1J Weathered.

I saw this and am wondering if all the other online shops that offered the preorder will be charging more as well.

Dang.  This will be painful.  I probably have 2 dozen items on preorder - some have been on order for 1.5 years or so.  I can see myself getting fed up with the extra fees and canceling orders.

Damn.

eKnight just refrained from the upcharge, but they don't carry the 3Z.

I've talked to a couple vendors I know at Frank & Son and they pretty much are either raising their prices right away or has stopped any further preorders but honoring the original prices they were at if you already preordered. I noticed the ThreeZero website still has them for the original prices though.

backwards missiles are back!

add/edit:

this other korean-reviewer is a bit more objectively critical of this TZ VF-1S, tho he's got correct missiles-placement...

I'm handling my Roy toy right now and it is very good with one glaring exception.... fighter mode is screwed by those little metal pegs meant to hold the arms up at the interior of the elbow. The fit is so tight that when the arm is pressed up into it, it comes shooting down a moment later. It's the absolute worst way to even try to hold the arms up. I really hope ThreeZero addresses this going forward (but have very little hope they will). I was able to work around it by pressing the arms so far forward that the peg doesn't line up with the slot and then doing a little bend at the elbow... probably causes my arms to droop 1mm lower so not the end of the world. Still, such an easily fixed flaw on an otherwise very good toy. Ways this could be resolved:
1) Put small pegs on the arms that are received by slots into the legs. Bonus points, have a peg and slot on the otherside of the arms so they lock into each other also
2) Yamato V2 style, put pegs that pinch the arms into the right spot on the exterior of the upper bicep
3) Shape the existing metal peg like an "L" and have the arm slide back onto the "L" thus elevating it and locking it.

For true perfection, they should redo the backpack the mold to make it thinner so the extra beefy arms could tuck up higher and not droop below the legs in fighter mode.

I finally got my VF-1S Roy yesterday and played around with it. I didn't notice any issues with the pegs in the interior elbow. My copy was holding the arms up just fine. I was a little hesitant to peg it in at first after reading your post but was surprised how well it held up. The wings on this toy lined up perfectly flush too in Battroid mode unlike my VF-1J. Overall, I'm really happy with it.

Edit: So far my only complaint are with how tight the side fillers are. My VF-1J fillers weren't tight and easily pop on and off but the ones on the VF-1S are really snug and I feel like I'm going to break and snap them off.

The arm peg issue is even worse than thought. Back when I got my VF-1J, I discovered they get blocked from pegging in when the backpack is in place. The backpack flap is too long and pushes the arm away from the peg. So even IF the arms pegs in securely, it physically can't XD You have to do the elbow trick either way.

Got my Roy this past week, transformed it once to fighter to confirm the arm sliders weren't frozen, and then haven't really touched it since.  Probably for the better, so the panel lining doesn't rub off like my Rick's.

I don't know.  These just feel like an oddball.  They've got a couple of really questionable design choices that manage to goof up all modes roughly equally, I suppose?  And sadly, the arm design is at the center of all of it.  The forearms being so thick pretty well kills the profile in fighter mode (especially when the arms sag off the pegs, leaving the rear gear propped off of the ground by the gunpod <_<).  Then the screwy elbow design just looks terrible if you look at it for more than five seconds.  It just makes me sad at how easy it would be for them to fix it.

Also yeah, same exact issue as above.  The arms will not seat on those stubs.  The backpack flap pushes them down, because it doesn't collapse far enough against the thrusters.  So they just dangle even lower than their intended position.

Also, unfortunately in my case, this is probably the worst fitting nosecone I've seen on any VF-1 since they started making them fold.  Can't figure this one out, it's like the nosecone tip got shrunk in the wash or something, it's too small for the rest of the nose, and doesn't sit flush, so there's an angled gap all the way around.

On the plus side, the paint is immaculate on this one, and I appreciate the extra pivot they added to tilt the head lasers in and out.

I don't know if I exactly regret buying both of these, and I can appreciate someone finally making a release that's more battroid-focused, but the sad part is that some of those compromises weren't even necessary in the first place.  They just made some poor choices in general.  These are probably just going to remain in battroid forever.

Though.. now I'm actually kind of wondering how hard it would be to make a set of custom arms without the elbow and droop problems.  Could even work in a set of perfect transformation hands, since they didn't seem interested in those.  Would be really funny if you could just pull off the arms below the shoulder, and replace the whole assembly with a set of Yamatos.

Knowing the three-zero is virtually the same size as the Yamato/Arcadia Valk's, here's hoping that a Cannon Fodder VF-1A & 1J are in the works.
