POM is similar to Nylon so whatever parts those are, won't take paint well. I have no idea how to tell which parts are ABS or PVC vs POM. Quote
Chronocidal Posted Thursday at 08:02 PM Posted Thursday at 08:02 PM If you consider that the Threezero VF-1 is pretty much entirely painted, it actually might not be hard to figure out. I'm betting the only POM parts are the gray plastic hinges involved in the joint mechanisms, or the back plate. Haven't tested this in any way, it's just an assumption, but these are so completely painted, I doubt any part that would need paint would be unpaintable. Maybe some of the internal parts of the hinges that show? But the only parts I can see are already either dark gray unpainted plastic, or metal, The color and finish are so consistent across the figure, I feel like any part not painted to match would stick out pretty clearly. Protoman Posted Thursday at 11:30 PM Posted Thursday at 11:30 PM Damn. I've got the Rick Hunter version and love it. I was really hoping they would have had super parts for the Max and Mirya . Quote

It can be tough for a solid structure, but may be a bit brittle under constant stress. PVC is usually much softer. I don’t have this toy, but often will be used in things like softer parts for hands. Pom can have a hard nylon consistency that won’t be as hard as ABS, but often used in joints on toys since it doesn’t wear as much as Hard ABS and isn’t overly squishy like pvc. It’s very solid feeling most of the time, but has a little give to where it won’t just crack with stress. Again, I don’t have this particular toy and can’t exactly confirm how parts are made here, just how these materials usually are used in other toys. PVC and Pom can have very different consistency and uses, but ABS is always hard plastic it’s mostly outer shells of bigger parts Quote

That would suck on an Axoid as it's all dark maroon and black. No point in a repaint unless it can match those colors. @Jarrod had informed me the DX cannot accept paint to the exposed joints as they are nylon, which would kill the appearance. Nylon supposedly can take dye, but it's not something he's tried yet, and I can't undertake any of this anyhow (have to commission him or someone) as I no longer have steady hands to get such an endeavor right. I just hoped this one could be a little more of an option than the DX. Quote
sh9000 Posted Friday at 01:52 AM Posted Friday at 01:52 AM Hmm I might get these 2. Although I still want HMR Revivals in these colors. Quote
grundee Posted Friday at 02:43 AM Posted Friday at 02:43 AM (edited) I really hope they make some fast packs for these to help cover up this issue. They couldn't figure out a way to make this fit any flatter? They do look great in fighter mode though. Edited Friday at 02:50 AM by grundee Quote
jvmacross Posted Friday at 03:30 AM Posted Friday at 03:30 AM (edited) The white necks seem off to me....they should be blue for Max and Red for Millia, no? That's how TZ had it on their prototypes.... Edited Friday at 03:32 AM by jvmacross Quote
jvmacross Posted Friday at 03:49 AM Posted Friday at 03:49 AM (edited) Even KitzConcept knew not to fumble the neck colors....lol...ThreeZero may already in production for their M&M -1Js.... Edited Friday at 03:51 AM by jvmacross Quote

If I fold everything incorrectly, however, they protrude/stick out as shown in your image. Quote

It's kind of silly that their own team doesn't know how to handle their own toy and fold the backpack/thrusters the right way. Quote

Chronocidal Posted yesterday at 12:36 AM Posted yesterday at 12:36 AM Eh, I don't know if the neck would really bother me or not. Annoying, but not my biggest issue with these figures in any case (stupid elbows ). I might have to buckle down and get this pair as well. The tail issues are probably just because of how fiddly the hinges are. They're really easy to knock out of alignment, which leaves the tails cockeyed and unable to fold flat. I think this might be the best shade of red yet for Millia's 1J though. I hope Bandai takes note, and makes their DX in that same color... if they ever get around to caring enough to release it. At a glance of the pictures of Miriya's VF-1J, I immediately thought the proportions of the figure to be the Bandai DX version. I feel that both the Max and Miriya versions from Threezero are the ones that stand out from the line up. Edited yesterday at 12:58 AM by shazam Quote
