Uxi Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 I have the original release Brera VF-27. A bit floppy, especially shoulders. Quote

Uxi Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Got the Max. Pretty cool. Nice and tight (so far anyway). The turret is kinda awkward. It works of course but it's base connection seems too thin to suspend disbelief and is pretty limited in motion in battroid. The super pack is pretty heavy. Perfect in fighter. Surprisingly stable in battroid with it. Main issue I've noticed so far is the shield barely stays connected in fighter. Quote
jetcollector Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) Finally saw the movie this is from. Grabbed one from Amazon a while back for what I thought was a good deal. Under $200. have we heard ANYTHING about a possible chogokin DX SV-303? Those AI “bad guy” valks are really incredible looking, especially the two different fighter modes. I can’t be the only one out there that would love to see one of these in toy form! Sure it may be a tough one to pull off perfectly but everyone thought the VF-4 Lighting was not doable and now we have like four versions. Edited January 28 by jetcollector Quote

jetcollector Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Someone at Bandai has gotta be working on one. It’s the main villain in the movie and had way more screen time than this YF-29 did. Those colors alone if done properly would be amazing in DX form. Heck even a HI-Metal version would be amazing. Quote

Given Bandai's history, it's evident that lots of people are working on lots of things, but that doesn't mean Bandai has any intention of actually releasing them as a product. Quote

MKT Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Strange that not even a model kit of the SV-303 has been made.. I have always thought model kits sit more favorably in Bandai's cost/benefit analysis in releasing anything. Quote
Chronocidal Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I mean, I don't know how popular the movie was? Probably did fine, but I don't remember the valks getting much focus from any part of the movie. Given the showy presentation with all of the singers, it doesn't surprise me that the 303 was just buried into obscurity even in its own movie. For me, that movie is just firmly in the "okay that was weird" category, which generally doesn't push it very high up my list of things to rewatch. Quote
Lolicon Posted February 12 Posted February 12 If you want to sell mecha toys and models from a supposed mecha series, it helps to give them more than a few seconds of screen time. All the mecha in Delta TV series and movies feel like an afterthought tossed in at the last minute. Quote

Zettai Live has actually become my second favorite Macross movie after DYRL. My opinion is a bit different. I personally feeI the mecha, including the 303, YF-29 and VF-31AX got a lot of focus and were thought they were featured heavily in the movie. I really enjoyed the mecha combat scenes as well. I think I've watched the movie 4 to 5 times now and spent a lot of time freeze framing and slow motioning the mecha fight scenes. For me the 2 Macross Delta movies are what personally redeemed Macross Delta for me after being hugely disappointed in the second half of the TV series (eps 14 to 26), to the extent that it actually made me lose interest in Macross for about a 5 year period after Delta TV finished airing. Graham Posted February 12 Posted February 12 If Bandai released a DX SV-303, I'd definitely buy 2 or 3. Quote
Chronocidal Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Fair, and I would as well, it's an amazing design.. though I would definitely rather see it in solid colors than covered in rainbow neon pinstripe. The movie.. I dunno. It had its moments, but it just felt weird and cobbled together from leftover ideas that didn't get fleshed out enough to mean much.. and the ending just felt so wrong on so many bizarre levels, it was hard to process. Or maybe the 31AX soured me on it with how crappy Bandai managed to screw up one of their own best products? I don't know. I think the 303 fits in perfectly with all of the other products that Bandai designed, and then refused to market from that series. Quote

I only got sucked back in by the Mac0 HMRs and the reissues by Bandai. Buying new Macross merch made me want to rewatch the various Macross series (Mac+, Mac0, DYRL, Flashback, and I'm currently slow watching MacF. I'll try to rewatch Mac2 when I get the HMR VF-2SS reissue)... except Delta . Edited February 12 by m0n5t3r Quote
Lolicon Posted February 12 Posted February 12 "Make it not suck" was implied in my previous post, but I guess it's something that needs to be said out loud. @Chronocidal and @m0n5t3r's posts are just roundabout ways of saying the same thing: Delta sucks. Delta movie 2's climax is a confusing mess of CGI slop tossed on the screen in an attempt to befuddle the audience into thinking something interesting is happening. It's a prime example of how not to write a good space battle. It's something they did (mostly) right in the Frontier TV series, but then forgot when they got to the Frontier movies, and it's been downhill since. Quote
Chronocidal Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to say it all sucked. The first few episodes of the series up until the nuke dropped had a decent amount of promise, and the first movie felt like a much more coherent telling of the story in general. The second halves of both versions just fell apart as they progressed. Quote

I'll try to rewatch Mac2 when I get the HMR VF-2SS reissue)... except Delta . Both. I thought the Delta movies were good, especially the 2nd one. I got so hyped when Max flew in his YF-29 and basically put everyone in their place, proving that no one is really in his league no matter how good of a pilot they think they are. My only real gripe about the movies is how Mirage never really got the love from Hayate. I was hoping they'd do it similar to the Frontier movies where they changed it up (so that Hayate would go the Mirage route instead of Freya). The 2nd half of the Delta series really dampened my interest in Macross. To be honest, the first half wasn't that great either, but it was passable. The only part that got me hyped up in the Delta series was that episode when they started to explain everything that had happened so far in the lore, and how all the different events from Zero to Frontier were connected to one another. I got excited because I thought they were gonna do a culmination story arc where everyone comes together. But alas, they didn't develop it much further after that episode and just went back to that BS Windemere story arc. I struggled to finish that show even though I was a very big fan of Macross/Robotech ever since the 80s. It was so bad that it took me 2 years or more to even try watching the Delta movies after they were released because I was worried I'll just dislike it more. But fortunately, I really liked the movies and it removed the bad taste in my mouth that the series left behind. Quote
