djivaldi7 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 One twist, the next Macross series is being developed now by a more :Gundam-ish" team and studio affiliation. Presuming it leads to something more profound, does that create a quantum leap pull-through for everything else in the product portfolio? btw, am I the only person who orders through Tokyo Otaku Mode? They've been great to work with but feels like nobody else has. Quote

Usually for niche items with small runs, once the initial supply runs out, prices start going up. That’s why we often see the Valks that sit on clearance that were probably made in less numbers than the main hero Valk to begin with sometimes end up being worth more years later. Quote

It's possible that the survival of the Macross brand is at risk in these new hands lol. Quote

Mommar Posted November 3 Posted November 3 To be honest, for a proper tornado version of the 25 it would probably have been better to just create a version that had the wings permanently attached. That pivot point at the wing root is a terrible engineering design. It needs more reinforcement. Quote

Robin-11 Posted December 18 Posted December 18 So, since my old yamato VF-0A Shin version is yellowing i am seriously considering to buy this. Anyway before pulling the trigger: Is the old ghost unit compatible with this version too? I am reading mixed reviews on the net. Quote

Anyway before pulling the trigger: Is the old ghost unit compatible with this version too? I am reading mixed reviews on the net. The Yamato Ghost fits the Arcadia VF-0. Couple of examples here and here. But small caveats: 1. The Ghosts canards will have some pinched tension, due to Arcadia's VF-0 backplate/chest being slightly narrower than Yamato's. 2. I have not personally tried, but heard the wing missile pods & tank will be quite loose on Arcadia's. So a bit of sticky tape or tack will help. Quote

It looks beautiful but looking at these pictures the whole thing seems a little bit off. Not quite sure why. I still question Arcadia for releasing a VF which basically doesn't have any screen time (at least in one piece) and was really hoping for a bundle with an updated ghost. Quote

I remember it initially looked a bit off to me too. I think it was due to the deeper and more prominent panel lines of the Ghost over the very fine panel lines of the 0A. During handling, the Ghost's plastics is also of a rougher surface type characteristic of Yammie valks of that era, as compared to the smoother and mostly painted surface of the Arcadia valk. But at normal display viewing distance, it didn't bother me much then. Quote

Getting mine for $198, free surface delivery, plus puts another almost $50 onto my TOM points balance. So...effectively $149 total! From the perspective of a loyal "TOM-boy"....They do let you daisy-chain purchases, did that for multiples of the DX Chogokin VF25 armored, VF25 tornado, YF-21 etc. The SV262Hs at one point was a whopping 66% cash back, others were similar around 50% points back during pre-sale intro periods and Black Friday events. (This Arcadia VF1A is a more modest 25%, but I'm not holding out because of my own FOMO w. Arcadia) And while the final cashback % earned comes AFTER applying TOM points from your prior orders, you still get decent points earned depending on how well you time these promo periods. Annual TOM premium membership is like $50. I amortized that quickly with a few of those DX orders, plus the 75- 90% off members get on some of the TOM clearance events. Insane values there. Next best is Mandarake "lightly used" a year or two post-launch. Quote
MKT Posted Thursday at 08:35 AM Posted Thursday at 08:35 AM Now that is a MASSIVE points reward amount. Don't think I've ever come across these types of % anywhere. Quote

That’s cool but just pointing out its less of a difference when you consider the $350 starting price is already about $100 more than the actual price of the item. Sure, you get “free” shipping but that cost is essentially built into the price. Quote
djivaldi7 Posted Friday at 09:52 AM Posted Friday at 09:52 AM Yes, but, that's why I stated this is about how you compound the points and/or discounts from prior TOM purchases. In some cases, they'll mark down an item 50%, like recently with VF0S HiMetal, or in others like the DX SV262Hs offerred 66% cash points back, while in others they've offerred some combination of the two in varying degrees, immediate discount plus points. So, yes, a standalone, one time purchase on TOM may not wow anyone, even with free shipping, it's the cumulative effects over multiple purchases rolling consistent discounts and points, while monitoring their promotional windows opportunistically, that have made them unbeatable for me. Patience required because they don't throw it all on sale all at once. ....Kinda like momma did at the grocery on double coupon Wednesdays. Quote
djivaldi7 Posted Monday at 12:42 PM Posted Monday at 12:42 PM Thanks for the heads up on the VF27. This next TOM purchase below leveraged the points from the VF-OA last week. The "looping" of orders one at a time would put you at roughly $197 delivered each time. This is roughly the equivalent of buying at y32,000, free shipping, and exchange rate .064 y/usd Quote
