It did dial it up to 11, though I didn't feel any parody. It all came across very serious. Fun to watch, but serious.

The monster speaker truck is exhibit A.  If that is not insanely stupid nothing is.

The Doof Warrior and his wagon were highlights of awesomeness

Just got to the theater for the 6:30 showing. Reviews have been pretty good, but I'm a bit worried about the amount of CG seen in the trailers.

It was good, but there was a lot of CG. Not enhancing shots or the natural landscape, but replacing them altogether.

It's NOT Fury Road. This is a different movie.

Major spoiler:

Spoiler

Yes, Max and the V8 Interceptor do appear in the film. Briefly.

In what condition?

Spoiler

Looked to be in better shape than it was in Road Warrior and Fury Road. The car, that is. Max had short, dark hair.

Interesting....so more black paint and less dirt? I didn't plan on seeing this at the theatres....can you spoil the context of their appearance for me?  I'm intrigued by this info...

Nevermind.....found it on the web...seems like just fanservice at best....

Saw it today. It was good, felt like a companion to the last movie. Hemsworth was great and should play more villains. Side notes though...

I am never going to a Regal Cinema again. Had to sit through 30 minutes of mostly ads and some trailers after the movie was supposed to start. Unreal.

Yeah, used to be it was just previews, which were always nice to see. But with more people staying home to wait and stream movies in comfort, they have to bring in more revenue somewhere. Sadly, that's just more commercials...

Our other local (Alamo, ICON, CMX, etc) theaters actually don't have ads played when the movie is supposed to start and I guess that's what it made seem so obscene too.

Too true! Play the movie when it's timed to, as sometimes that makes it start 10 to 20 min later.

It's been a MAD MAX long weekend for me by watching all the movies on MAX, lol. Not in a particular order either. First was Fury Road followed by Road Warrior and Thunderdome and original Mad Max last. Though George Miller directed all the movies I think all the films are well made and except for Fury Road and Furiosa they are so different from each other in terms of wasteland wheeled adventure.

That being said I think Mad Max could make for an excellent streaming series.

It could work if they plotted out the entire run of the show in advance, showing the final downfall of civilization.  Who am I kidding, your right - it would end up the biker gang of the month show eventually.

Still....goofy-a$$ pirates of the week seems to be doing well for the live-action One Piece...it's all about the actors and the writers...could be good....maybe if presented with Bezo's type money...George Miller would be willing to make a series....

I saw it Saturday night and enjoyed it enough, not as good as Fury Road, but it was still solid. Definitely a bit flustered at some of the CGI, definitely could've had more things done practical but oh well.

I haven't been rewatching the movies but I did restart the Mad Max game from 2015, and what a hidden gem that game was. Absolutely gorgeous, incredible sound design, Arkham-style free flow combat, great car combat, beautiful fire and explosions, it's a great open-world game, and an excellent Mad Max game.

Same, restarted the game too. First re-play since 2015 and its still great. Didn't realize I put in over 80 hours in my first play through tho, lol.

On a side note I'm reading Furiosa is a box office bust but I don't lay blame on the movie, instead I think its on the theaters and their ticket pricing. Want to fill seats? Lower their price if its not filling!

Adult tickets at my go-to theater at Cannery Casino are up to $18. frakk that, all of it, $18 plus a $15 popcorn? I went for Furiosa, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, I'll go for Deadpool 3, but yeah my days of going casually to the movies are over, prices are absurd, and now my damn theater plays up to fifteen minutes of ads. I get it, these theaters gotta make money where they can and how they can, but damn, they are making the experience worse, and more expensive, not a smart move.

HISHE: "Animated Recap of Mad Max Fury Road by How It Should Have Ended. Before there was Furiosa there was Mad Max Fury Road. Well actually Furiosa takes place before Fury Road. But Mad Max was before Furiosa. Unless you think Tom Hardy is playing the feral kid from Road Warrior and just calls himself Max now. So then really Furiosa never met Mad Max and is therefore... wait, she's still after him."

Well, poop. I'm hoping we do get more MAD MAX films.

On a side note after re-watching all the movies last weekend I'd have to say The Road Warrior is the best sequel that was an improvement over the first film imho. Meaning if I'd score Mad Max a 5 or 6 and The Road Warrior is a 9. In comparison Star Wars: A New Hope or Batman Begins scores 8 and their sequels are a 10.

I also still think a streaming series could work. My idea wouldn't be a 'street gang of the week' but showing how society collapses when the infrastructure (energy. water, law, etc) breaks down that eventually leads to wasteland road violence.

There will eventually be another Mad Max movie, no need to worry about that.  Hollywood (currently) can't stay away from a franchise for long.

So basically....The Walking Dead with the zombies replaced by psycho motor gangs?

I'd rather have more Mad Max movies with Max actually in them...
