That might be true. Most of these slasher flicks are easily forgotten, while a lot of talk focuses on how bad a semi live action remake like Snow White can be. It may actually sour people from even wanting to rewatch the original as a side effect

That has been the case for me regarding Star Wars:  I have zero desire to rewatch the originals and prequals because, thanks to Disney, all roads lead to Jake Skywalker and "wonder" Rey Palpatine; similarly, Marvell has also been severely tainted to the point phases 1-4 have no rewatch value anymore.  Some, a small part, of the sentiment is due to me outgrowing these IPs to be sure, but the bulk of it is due to what those in charge have done to them.  It is actually quite sad just how much they've screwed the pooch -- chasing, and pandering to, the "Modern Audience" and laughably bad writing and execution-- with once guaranteed crowd pleasers and money makers and merchandizing juggernauts... now moribund, easily ignored, husks of their former selves.

I think I stopped enjoying rewatching Star Trek stuff after DS9 and I used to enjoy rewatching Star Wars OG films even after the Disney purchase, but I haven’t done a rewatch after all the shows kinda turned mostly into flops. And now that I think of it, I don’t really rewatch the marvel stuff anymore more either, especially after the legacy of most of the characters seemed ruined for the most part. Might still rewatch The Guardians of the Galaxy films though. Even spider man doesn’t really make me excited much anymore, after a second viewing of No Way Home (the movie that gets worse every rewatch). I think the multiverse ruined those films. Never really cared for the DC stuff anymore, but I’d probably still enjoy a rewatch of The Suicide Squad, but I don’t know how I’ll feel after the reboot films start coming out

Indeed.  Disney is, by no means, the only guilty party in the wholesale destruction of legacy IPs; however, they are, by far, the worst offenders.

That’s true. Amazon somehow ruined Lord of the Rings. But Disney somehow killed Indy, Star Wars, Marvel, Lucas film in general and even their own original stuff.

The good news is they are not trying to reboot it. Kinda. And they got almost as straight-laced an actor as you can get. My first thought was that I hope they went right back to Police Squad for inspiration, and seeing the line-up of cops crying over their dad's pictures feels like it could have been lifted straight out of it. I am optimistically hopeful.

Yeah, the pictures of all the new generation missing their dad’s with the exception of OJ was pretty hilarious. I kind of think there might be something to this ridiculous movie. I haven’t seen an over the top goofball comedy in a few years and maybe this one will be fun. Might be a good laugh, or an absolute train wreck, but I’m curious so far
