Old_Nash_II Posted January 9 Posted January 9 New movie from "Husband of Milla Jovovich", starring Milla Jovovich XD And one man named David Bautista (XD) Quote
TangledThorns Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 That trailer was straight out of the early aughts and not in a good nostalgic way. Also, bizarre that Paul W.S. Anderson is incapable of improving his talent from Event Horizon. Quote
Big s Posted January 14 Posted January 14 We watched Land of Bad on Netflix over the weekend. Not a memorable movie, but one of those cookie cutter military operative kinda things starring lesser known Hemsworths. It’s also not a bad movie and not a bad way to waste an afternoon with a bit of action. The only real complaint I have is Spoiler There’s a scene towards the end of the film where part of the rescue mission goes wrong and there’s supposed to be an air strike in fifteen minutes. They have to call it off because they’re not gonna make it out in time and they can’t get a hold of the people running the show to cancel it, so they have to call a not anywhere near in shape Russell Crowe. At the 2:30 til splodey time they finally get him a message and he’s at a market and can’t reach the base because everyone is busy watching a basketball game, yet somehow an older overweight Crowe is able to drop out of the checkout line, get into his car and drive through a parking structure and get back to the main part of base and get through security, jog past the rec room and to where he can relay the message to call off the bombs. He’s seriously gotta do all that in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. There’s no way an in shape Russel Crowe could’ve done that let alone older tubby Crowe. Beyond that it’s still not a bad movie, definitely not perfect and nothing really special about it, but you probably wouldn’t regret watching it either. Quote
electric indigo Posted January 14 Posted January 14 @Big s Wait a minute, wasn't Russel Crowe already out of shape 16 years ago in Body of Lies? 😄 Quote

Ain’t no way he’s making that run to his car in 2 minutes and 30 seconds, let alone the rest of the trip Quote

Old_Nash_II Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I don't fundo The thread about this movie. Well, New trailer Quote
TangledThorns Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 (edited) I don't think it needs it own thread (yet!) but looks like THE GOONIES 2 is officially happening! Hollywood is still chasing that GenX money but legacy sequels hasn't had a good track record, seems like 1 out of 10 or more are really good or isn't a box office success. No idea how the sequel will go but my crazy idea would be the actors the actors themselves would be the "goonies", kinda like "THIS IS THE END" where the actors portrayed themselves in a crazy situation. ‘Goonies 2’ Officially in the Works With Steven Spielberg Producing https://variety.com/2025/film/news/goonies-2-sequel-steven-spielberg-1236308226/ Edited February 15 by TangledThorns Quote

Maybe not all in great spots, but they don’t look too bad mostly for their ages. Are they going to be the main characters? And will it leave the planning stages? Quote
Thom Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Hyped just for the news itself! That should go to show how ready I am for even just a wiff. There have been a few passing from the cast, John Matuszac and Anne Ramsey being most known. If this does through, I would imagine it would be multi-generational. If they do end up doing it, I could see them wanting to set up a new younger cast to keep a franchise going for the next ten or twenty years. Quote
505thAirborne Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Anyone here watch THE GORGE on Apple TV+? We watched it over the weekend, overall, a fun movie and worth a watch with some popcorn or ice cream. Quote
TangledThorns Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 I read THE GORGE is good. Will check it out when we do a month's subscription to Apple+ sometime this year. Quote
Mog Posted Monday at 05:19 PM Posted Monday at 05:19 PM The Gorge was alright. Definitely a popcorn flick. The concept was a little trope-y. But whatever. Not sure if it was intentional, but really? Spoiler Having Ms. Queen’s Gambit playing chess, and Mr. Whiplash playing improvised drums? Either that, or I’ve watched too many movies and series. 😅 Quote

I guess there wasn’t enough room for both of us in that town. I’ll probably check this out. My favorite movie with Cheech will always be Born in East LA, but I did always feel a little down that Chong was missing from it. Quote
TangledThorns Posted Thursday at 12:39 PM Author Posted Thursday at 12:39 PM One can wish to be living as well as Cheech and Chong at their age, gonna have to rewatch their early films again. They also gave Paul Reubens's film career a good start as Pee-Wee Herman, though very R-rated, lol. Miss that guy 🙏 Quote

Without Cheech and Chong, we might not have had Pee Wee, without Pee Wee we might not have had Morpheus Quote
