Though I found his remake of "Suspiria" somewhat lackluster, Guadagninos is one of the most interesting contemporary directors IMO. "Call me by your name" and "Challengers" are masterpieces.  Looking forward to see this adaption, especially with Butler in the lead.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever liked either version of Suspiria. They’re kind of those art house uncomfortable kind of movies that do really great at making you feel uncomfortable, but don’t feel that memorable. Not scary and not super creepy and just uncomfortable to watch. They succeeded in what they were trying to do I think but I’d never do a rewatch of either one.

Just watched this tonight. Not A++ but not terrible either, a fun popcorn flick. The movie flows like a first draft and needed a 2nd or 3rd to iron out the pacing and plot. Jason Bateman is his usual awesome self.

The plot is of course ridiculous, but gets an easy pass from me – once things are rolling, it never gets boring. Good actors, the cinematography is great, especially for a streaming movie, and the fight in the car is awesome.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra's backlog is not too shabby, too.

I felt it had some really stupid moments. Oddly the comedy bits were spot on and I kinda feel that they should have played more into those moments a lot more and made this more of an action comedy. But it’s not the worst movie I’ve seen.

I just think that every moment Bateman has the upper hand is an odd moment where he shouldn’t have. Like what if the guy just didn’t put in the earpiece. Or if he just dragged his lady to that security office before really knowing about the bomb or the sniper that wasn’t even ready with the rifle. It was such a paper thin plot that it even showed wrinkles in the actual movie itself.

overall, if those things don’t bug you, you’ll be alright with this and if they do it will ruin the whole movie. If you can shut off your brain, then get the popcorn ready, cause you’re in for a stupid ride

Just returned home from seeing NOSFERATU with my wife. Good movie just like Egger's previous films. Though its not for an audience that is expecting typical vampire films of the past. I had friends that didn't like it for that reason. Oh well.

No sexy vampires in this one I guess. I’m fine with that. I like a vampire with an actual curse upon them rather than the modern no downside non monster vampire. The modern ones can’t go out in the day sometimes and other than that look hot and live forever, who wouldn’t want to be one of those, but nobody wants to be Orlok

Vampires were made 'sexy' all the way back to Bela Lugosi, though he was more 'statesman' sexy rather than young/hipster 'sexy.' Haven't seen it yet, but I'm in for a vampire that actually looks like a monster rather than a walking disco ball.

Very much so. NOSFERATU is the rare anti-Hollywood vampire film meaning it won't make vampires mainstream again which is a good thing. That being said Lily Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult both deserve Oscar best acting nominations. Eggers for best director and for best make-up nominations too.

I don’t know so much about sexy, but at least he was still a cursed type of character. And his underlings we’re more zombie than clubbing fun time peeps

The new ones all seem forever trapped in the perfect body with friends that are also in perfect bodies that might be allergic to daytime as their biggest weakness. They prey on people that end up just like them, spoiled and rich with forever beauty and no downside to being turned. I don’t know what they all do for money, but they all seem to support eachother and have endless supplies of leather and pleather, probably because they don’t have to pay for insurance

Weird, I was just reminiscing about this short film when I found the whole thing is on Youtube:

I was just a small boy when I saw this, and it really stuck with me.  I could sworn it was a lot longer too.  Anyway, it's worth a watch, and you don't even need to know Spanish to know what's going on.

Was the 2000s era Phone Booth with Colin Farrell and Donald Sutherland a remake of this movie? Maybe just playing with a similar premise...?

Nah, Phone Booth had a completely different story that was more of a suspense thriller.  La Cabina is more like a Twilight Zone episode.

I really don`t know.

I looked back only one page and it seems there’s Shiver me Timbers and Popeye the Slayer Man already announced just a couple months ago. But I guess this one’s a first since the cast talks all britishy. The dude’s supposed to be all New England, not old England.

they all look like 💩though. Popeye deserves better than this. Three cheap no budget horror movies with zero imagination. I still stand by one of my earlier statements about the subject and I think that everyone is trying to do horror, when a goofy hardcore comedy would be more fitting for a cheap subject
