Bolt Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Got the pre order for the new one.. Edited March 19 by Bolt Quote
Chronocidal Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Picked one of those up as well, just for the alternate colored canopy to use. Also wound up grabbing one of the armored kits from HLJ while I was at it, and the discount from paying in yen is pretty substantial. I'll probably apply the parts to one of the normal green versions though. Quote

Now just need to wait and see if they do the RVF type, or an armored version of the blue-green one. I'd like to avoid having to get a spare blue-green and a spare armored just so I can combine them. But I doubt that affordable option will arise. Quote

I'm not optimistic about a standalone weapons set. I figure if I can get an extra armored kit, and an extra blue-green, I can donate the armored parts to the blue-green AND donate the wings w/ weapons to my standard Alto kit. I'm hoping that buying a whole armored kit just to salvage parts from won't sting so bad if it's serving 2 purposes instead of 1... Or... to look at it a different way, I guess if I donate the armored parts the left behind stuff IS the non armored Alto kit with wing weapons that I want... Quote
Bolt Posted March 21 Posted March 21 That's a good way to justify it. But , for me, buying and shipping another one, just for the armored parts, isn't worth it. I need someone from Etsy ! Quote

And will hope for the future. Quote
Chronocidal Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Kind of funny, I was just considering that if you wanted some higher quality weapons and pylons, you could probably get them from a Hasegawa VF-0 kit, since the triple missile clusters are just copy-pasted from there... But then I went looking, and can't find any pictures of Hasegawa VF-0s with those missiles anywhere, or even proof that they ever released a kit with them. Kind of sad, but I'm actually mostly just surprised they don't exist. Quote

I'm imagining most model builders and hobbyists will someday have 3d printers like we all have air brushes. But that's a long way off for me. Quote
Chronocidal Posted March 22 Posted March 22 The missiles themselves from the 171 kit aren't that bad, it's mostly just the nonsense stub pylons they molded to the wings that need to go. You could probably source some more realistic mounting hardware from any 1/72 weapons set that Hasegawa makes, and just glue the included missiles onto them. Quote
