Old_Nash Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 https://variety.com/2020/film/news/joel-schumacher-dead-dies-batman-director-1234644961/ Goodbye and thanks for the movies
Mog Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Not a fan of his Batman films. At all. But he had a pretty interesting list of films in his resume. Phone Booth is an “under the radar” favorite of mine.
TangledThorns Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Don't know how Joel could direct gritty and classic films like FALLING DOWN and LOST BOYS but his BATMAN films were complete garbage. I think it was because he wasn't familiar with the source material.

tekering Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Schumacher was a competent director, and could turn a good script (with the right cast) into a great film. 1 hour ago, TangledThorns said: 180 grit? '80s grit, more like. May the Lost Boys sequels be forever forgotten.
M'Kyuun Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 It's hard to reconcile a cool film like Falling Down with his two Batman films, which I thought were terrible. Actually, the majority of his filmography were decent movies. Alas, he left his mark in film history, and I'm thankful for the entertainment. RIP, Mr. Schumacher.
TangledThorns Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Check out Joel's TIGERLAND if you hadn't seen it. It stars Colin Farrell's in one of his earliest roles and is really good in it too.
Convectuoso Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Lost Boys, Falling Down and 8mm are my favorite Schumacher movies. But his Batman work was this terrible:
pengbuzz Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 There are some things some folks just don't do well: apparently, Joel and the Batman franchise were like oil and water.
Lolicon Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Every director has at least few stinkers on their CV that they would rather people forget about. And Batman & Robin was better than Batman Returns! RIP Mr Schumacher.
Smacky Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Am I one of the few that actually liked Batman Forever? Val Kilmer probably wasn't the best choice for Batman but I watched it as a young teenager and thought it was pretty good. Batman and Robin on the other hand... Tigerland is a great Vietnam War movie, great cast besides Colin Farrell, Clifton Collins Jr., Cole Hauser, Michael Shannon, etc...
Hikuro Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Can they put nipples on his tomb stone? Make it sexier.
