Alex Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) Hmmm. Is it the hair? The face is from a male figure but the hair is made from two female figures. I could trim the front a little. Think that might work? This is what happens when you try to tackle a figure based on a bisho character Edited September 2, 2013 by Alex Quote
troyness Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) It could be the fringe, but I can,t remember the lineart? Maybe the hair a little too long Edited September 2, 2013 by troyness Quote
Alex Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) Here's my wip head next to Yellow from the show. Bearing in mind i'm intentionally going for a smoother look to his do ala the other toys from CM/ Megahouse. Edited September 2, 2013 by Alex Quote
jenius Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Yep, I think if you just reduced the front strands and had them stop just past the shoulders like in that line art it would help. It might also give you some mobility for moving the head in the other directions (not sure if your current hair is limiting this). Quote
Alex Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Re-did the hair so it's a mix between the Megahouse and the show. Quote
nhyone Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I have a question regarding the upcoming Mospeada Bluray boxset. The regular edition is at 27% off at Amazon Japan (21,568 yen vs 29,400 yen). However, the limited edition is at full price of 37,275 yen. Does the limited edition get discounted? Or it has and I've missed it? From Google Translate, the difference is the book and a mousepad? But the book is about Tatsunopuro (the company) and not specifically on Mospeada? Quote
Alex Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 37,275 yen for 4 discs is ridonkulous. I know the market is completely different but I just bought the Doctor who series 1-7 box set for 30,000yen and that has close to nine years of Doctor Who AND comes with a metal replica of the Sonic Screwdriver that controls ALL household devices with an IR receiver. And 37,275 for 4 discs and a booklet? For that price it should have at LEAST come with a Megahouse or CMs figure, maybe a film strip. Quote
Hoptimus Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 And that is why I don't buy Japanese Blu Rays.... Quote
Alex Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Ugh. I haaaaate Japanese dvd releases. The way they split up box-sets, the way Japanese releases of US shows are STILL selling for import prices. Quote
Alex Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 And here, I thought I was the first. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showuser=658&tab=reputation Quote
Hoptimus Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Wow. Never saw that one myself either. I guess he never got to the Houquet/Fuke/Rook version. And here, I thought I was the first.http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showuser=658&tab=reputation Quote
Tober Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 And here, I thought I was the first. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showuser=658&tab=reputation Looks a lot like yours... Quote
Alex Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Looks a lot like yours... I think it's kinda neat that we could come up with such simialr builds independently of each other. Though I wish I had found out about this build earlier to ask if there were any pitfalls to be wary of. But then, my build did get the Shinji Aramaki official thumbs up of approval Looking closer, it does not appear to be perfect transformation as he seems to have left out the struts connecting the gauntlets to the bike. Though that does give a more anime accurate look to the arms whereas my gauntlets are raised off the forearms to accomodate the PT. And it also looks like the shoulders armor cannot rotate properly into position. I think he completely transplanted the entire cowling from the kit. I only used the front section of the kit's cowling and kept as much of the beagle as I could. Excellent job Skull Hunter and a shame that you aren't posting these days. if you see this then please post whatever you have. Love to see it. Edited September 8, 2013 by Alex Quote
EXO Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I was looking for that thread but it just wouldn't turn up with any keywords I entered so I didn't say anything. I wasn't sure how similar it was. Quote

Alex Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35844&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 Here it is Exo. Just an outstanding job on that bike. SH did a much better job integrating those Imai kit pieces. He's inspired me to go back and adjust some areas on my custom. Quote
Frogze Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Thumbs up, Alex!! The end result is absolutely fantastic! I really love how the ride mode looks in these pictures, the proportions are spot on. Almost forgot about Skull Leader's custom. He did great too, but I think the front/back sections on yours looks closer (longer) to what it should be, at least in my mind. About the head I think your second shorterned hair is the closest you got to Yellow's likeness. Any chance we finally see a custom Bartley, someday? Quote
Alex Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Cheers, Frogze! Actually, i'm working on Houquet's legs at the moment. I need to buy another Beagle/Toynami though. Still debating how much of the kit can be used. Houquet's 1/15 cowling is actually just about right for the 1/10 Beagle. The leg armor ( with bigger feet) may also work. I've also seen a couple Gundams with extremely similar lower leg armor that may work. Quote

Benson13 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Love you're work Alex. It's my favorite armor out of the group for sure. Edited September 8, 2013 by Benson13 Quote
Smut Peddler Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I need a Blowsuperior and a fuke. I'd pay a mint for them. Someone needs to cast the pieces it requires and sell those things. I'd probably buy 2 of each. Maybe 3 fuke's so I could do one with a camera and another new custom female ride armor. Quote

Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 This "mint". Is it 1/10 scale? Well, his name IS Smut Peddler. Quote
Smut Peddler Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 The only ride armors I grabbed up were the 1/10 beagle and toynami versions. Quote
Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 How much can you find Toynami Cyclones fot these days? I just need one more cheap bike for my Houquet custom. Quote
Smut Peddler Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Probably around $200 now with shipping, unless you can do better on ebay/amazon. If you are really lucky someone here might be able to help you out. Quote
Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Stick, you need to get out more. Yer too pale. Quote
Hoptimus Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 They had hit an all time low on Amazon for about 160 with free shipping but after that they climbed up to 2-250 for Rei/Rand and 3-400+ for Stick/Scott. How much can you find Toynami Cyclones fot these days? I just need one more cheap bike for my Houquet custom. Quote
Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Unlike the Alphas, you never see Toynami Cyclones over here. Pity. Quote
Hoptimus Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 You ever see any reasonable priced Aoshima Legioss Blue version over there Alex? The Toynami US one goes for a mint and it has crumble hands... Quote
Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Funnily enough I bought an Aoshima for 3150 the other day. MISB is around 8250. Edited September 9, 2013 by Alex Quote
DarrinG Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Thought this was cool - a 1/5 Ride Armore resin kit. Just went for over 30,000 on YahooJapan auctions. Was tempted to bid but did not... Quote
Hoptimus Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I have never even seen that kit! Wow. Alex if you see another Aoshima that cheap let me know. Thanks. Quote
