So, I've been waiting to get a Legioss for years. Is the Riobot the one to get?

Yes, nothing comes close. It is small and complicated though.

The original release of the blue had super tight shoulders.  But it’s solid as hell and can hold a pose with no floppy joints to be found.

It’s easily the best rendition of the Legioss/Alpha Fighter currently out there.

The biggest main drawback is that the figure, while having movable joints, is one solid color and not really painted.

Duke, buy it. It's a 2nd reprint so it's been reviewed and the best Legioss out there.

The Tread is new so we'll have to wait for reviews, i'm pre-ordering the Tread (i have the Legioss already) but should anything go wrong, easy returns on Amazon.

It’s the best out right now and a Tread is coming out for it but overall the Alpha is tiny. Maybe 6 inches tall in battroid mode for a $250 figure. A Tread is around $350 and I think having both will be well worth it.

If you’re willing to wait and have the cash Pose+ will come out with a 12 inch Alpha in a year or so. It won’t be cheap and I’m estimating ~$400+ but it will be a top notch high quality figure going by their current extremely expensive but high quality Pose+ figures they currently have out now.

Is Pose+ utilizing any of the transformation improvements that Sentinel did with their Legioss?

The change in the cockpit/nosecone process was a massive improvement for soldier mode.

I've never pre-ordered from Amazon before, I assume they charge when you place the order?  Or do they wait until shipment?

When it ships

I have no idea. I think only a 3D printed prototype has been shown thus far. There are images of it in this thread. I would look for them but am responding to this on my phone.

^^Yeah, that’s the case with Amazon Japan for this instance.  Not sure if they’re forcing upfront payment for the Legioss reissue too.

The only bright side to this is that the Yen to USD exchange rate is pretty favorable on the US side of things.

Not this time, they're charging up front for the Tread.

Ah, I only pre-ordered the Legioss.

That's weird, though.

your getting things mixed up. you ordered from Amazon Japan.

look at the previous posts, the pre- order is from Amazon U.S. which does not charge upfront, only when it ships.

I'm in the fence with the Tread. It doesn't have the same appeal to me that the super/strike parts for the VF-1 do.

Oh, I missed that.  Sorry.

Totally get where you're coming from; however, the super/strike parts don't transform into a badass brawler of a mech all its own... :p

Going over that price now the US Amazon is the best option.  The lowest we've seen the price is roughly $289, but any sort of shipping that doesn't involve three months on a boat is going to be over $300+tax, especially if you already have Prime for shipping.

I went ahead and ordered two from the US shop.

The Toynami/Beagle is probably the gold standard for Ride Armors.

But they only did two variants.

Sentinel has the four mains;  only them and CM’s have that.  But Sentinel can have a few issues:  certain joints could get cracked at the factory, the HUD lines on the helmet are a bit much, and they put Houquet in hot pink. :bad:

CM’s has a more complete lineup, but are prone to breakage.

Agreed, if you're just getting one, it's the Beagle and buy a replacement suit at the same time. I think you can get the suits for like $15 on Yahoo Japan. If you don't mind a modern reinterpretation then the sentinel is very good but does have a couple hinges you need to keep an eye on.

So, I need to ask, is the Sentinel Riobot Ride Armor the gold standard like their Legioss is?

The Beagle is still the most toon accurate if that's what you're measuring by. They are all fiddly and susceptible to breakage, although I don't find the Sentinel all that difficult to transform. It's also the most playable to me and I prefer the 1/12 scale. It's just that there are a number of hinges on the Sentinel that are easily cracked even if you don't do anything. All four of mine have suffered cracks which put a big damper on my feelings towards them, and also makes it hard for me to recommend them to others. If it weren't for that, the Sentinel would be a home run for me with just some aesthetic choices I would've preferred differently.

As far as Houquet, I wasn't bothered as much by the color once in hand as I was by the head/face sculpt. Granted none of them are particularly great, but Houquet is just... ugh. Aside from opening up the figure years ago, the non-helmeted head has since remained in the box.

If you're only going to get one, I'd say the Beagle Ley or Masterpiece Rand is the one to get since it's cloth material doesn't flake.  @jenius , what's this replacement suit you're talking about?  Are they still available?  I have a Masterpiece Scott that I've only opened once and isn't flaking yet but wouldn't mind having a backup suit.

It almost sounds like the best thing to do is avoid all of them, lol. But, if I really wanted one, go Beagle.

While I no longer have my Rand Toynami Cyclone but now own the Sentinel Ride Armor, if I could choose and keep only one... it's the Beagle or Toynami version.

The Sentinel is really nice, but nothing compares to the original TV series style that the Beagle offers.

I still despise the hot pink they picked for Houquet.

But if you’re willing to take the time to add some custom touches (or wholesale repaint in Houquet’s case) the whole Sentinel team makes for a damn fine display:

Maybe if you’re on the fence, waiting is an option. It seems there’s a couple toy companies doing stuff lately and maybe a new contender is around the corner. There also the moderoid one coming up that might be pretty cool for the kit builders. Mospeada seems to be getting some attention all around lately

Overall, it depends on what you're going for.

In my opinion:

- Want one to display, toon accurate? Beagle.

- Want the full set, toon accurate? CMs.

- Want full set, and open to/actually like updated designs? Sentinel.

- Want toon accurate partsformer? Megahouse.

- Want updated design partsformer, and into just slapping a ton of weapons onto a figure, physics-be-damned? Moshow Toys.

- Want to actually play with it, and have it only be in scale with JoyToy? B2Five.

- Want to play with it, but not have any fun doing so, and you're a completist? SMALL '80s Henshin Robo.

- Want it to not be much fun? Matchbox.

- Want to make me jealous? BIG '80s "Perfect Mounting Real Change" Henshin Robo

Looks I will have to “extend” the trigger to properly two-hand it.
