Guyffon Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 I used to fly r/c airplanes, then drones, but these days i build tamiya 1/16 r/c tanks and battle with them with a group of friends. I also have a cockpit at home for simulation games like mechwarrior and elite dangerous (with occulus) but recently just had a baby and all my hobbies seem like a back burner now Quote

hachi Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Aside from the obvious anime I'm also into Gundam/gunpla, light novels/SF novels etc, inking/watercolors, collecting artbooks and graphic novels. The latter (print books) has taken a hiatus though due to Covid and belt-tightening. I have future huge expenses coming up, the hobbies will have to take a back seat for now. Quote
Graham Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 To be honest, despite being a Macross mega-fan since 1982, my interest in Macross has waned in the last few years, since the train wreck that was Macross Delta and the lack of any decent new Macross TV series or OVA after Delta. Also, despite loving the VF-1 design after having bought nearly every variant of the Takatoku 1/55, Bandai 1/55, Bandai 1/100, Yamato 1/60 v.1, Yamato 1/48 & Yamato 1/60 v.2, I've become deathly bored with the VF-1 and have no interest to buy the Bandai Hi-Metal-R or Bandai 1/48. Burned out on buying the same mecha in the same colours, with only dubious possible minor improvements again and again and again. These days, although I keep an eye on Macross, my interests are more airsoft and Gunpla. Quote

Kuma Style Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Photography, fitness, hunting/fishing/camping, and Jeeping are pretty much life. Our four dogs take up a big chunk of my heart as well. I go in and out of gaming but it's weird with that... I'll be hardcore about it for a few weeks and then not play a single game for a few months but when I do I enjoy it. Quote
wwwmwww Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 I design twisty puzzles, puzzle rings, and a some packing puzzles. I've also written for Game & Puzzle Design. Here is my lastest twisty puzzle. Its the Double Circle Real 6×6×6, which is effectively a 2×2×2, inside of a 4×4×4, all inside of a 6×6×6 with all 216 cubies solvable. I got my own K40 laser cutter up and running to cut out the acrylic tiles for me. WOW5 and WASP are two of my puzzle ring designs. Hex-Pave is one of my packing puzzles. Carl Quote
ErikElvis Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 I’m a casual gamer as well. Sometimes I get into games and won’t stop playing for 8 or more hours then other times won’t touch them for 6 months. Quote
Podtastic Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Other hobbies? Pretty much my hobby is collecting same as with Macross/Robotech in collecting the series, novels, comics, games and most militaristic aliens. Macross is just one on a long list which includes 40k, Halo, Star Wars, GI Joe, Battlestar Galactica, Predator, Aliens, V, Independence Day, Starcraft, Starship Troopers, Marvel DC and also select sci-fi and fantasy novels etc Because its so broad I have to be selective so for example with 40k I only purchase novels involving the Tau, Eldar, Tyranids and Necrons. With Macross I mainly focus on the Zentraedi and Marduk - theres no Vajra so far that I know of (for Robotech this includes Bioroids and Invid) and for Star Wars its the Galactic Empire and Clone Army. My fave games are: Starcraft (original), the Predator/AVP games, MK, Soulcalibur, Call of Duty Rogue Trooper, Star Wars Clone Commando and Star Wars Battlefront. Quote

Nightbat Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 Talking about RC models I have an old Clod Buster on my shelf (Post Chevy/Pre 4x4x4 logo-ed grill) Did some mods to it, like adapting the chassis to hold 3 batteries (1 for each motor/esc) 1 for powering the lights making rear lights in the chassis, putting beams on the roll bar Nowadays I'm contemplating on 'improving' the Clod Basically a 'different' Juggernaut Clod Shell, wheels and suspension on Bruiser/Hi lift/CR-01 chassis/powertransfer, dual servo steering Quote

I think cuz I'm getting old. Quote

I am looking at the logitech pro pedals, as I reside in Singapore, virpils and vkb stuff are hard for me to acquire due to shipping cost. Btw if you have not tried strike suit zero, do try it, it is the closest game I have flown that is kind of like flying in a cockypit of a valkyrie. Even the multiple missle lock. Sadly they removed the occulus support for it as I would have loved that, vr even though having the screen door effect is stupid immersive. I kinda stop playing star citizen but waiting for them to make my polaris corvette then maybe I will return to it. Quote

Nah, stock 540 on each axle I never did dig deep in what was possible (gathering info on a rebuild opened up a plethora of aftermarket mods and adds) and brushless wasn't a thing back then, let alone Lipo batteries I also do not see any benefit on MORE power, IMO it looks cartoonish to have an RC monster truck go a 'scaled' 100 mph As for your Optima, I wouldn't know, but if it's a poplular model like my Clod, I wouldn't be surprised to find a treasure trove of aftermarket modders out there 19 hours ago, Guyffon said: Thats a great set up, are those virpil? I couldnt afford them so I only got a cheap X56 setup I had the Saitek X-55, Same stick, and though I loved the ergonomics, i found myself fixing broken wires after a little more than 100 hours use Hope Logitech put some work in it after acquiring Madcatz/Saitek (I know the first "Blue" X-56's were recolored X-55 Rhinos and still had terrible QC) I play Cliffs of Dover and Elite Dangerous (used to 'play' SC, but got tired of that ongoing disaster), now running Oculus Rift, Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50cm Stick and T50 Throttle (v.1), Saitek Combat Rudders with 2x Thrustmaster MFD Cougar (Won't be running out of buttons soon ) Quote

TangledThorns Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 PC gaming was my main hobby for decades but I quit it to concentrate on my family and health. That being said, I'm back in the gym putting on muscle and getting rid of the fatty dad bod. This is my supplement collection, lol. This is my first time really lifting weights in almost 15 years and much has changed since. Most notably is the amount of artificial sweeteners in supplements which I hate. Thankfully there is unflavored supplements out there so can I add my own syrups for taste if I wish. Quote

Cast iron cooking This was a yard find....literally found this old Levcoware cast iron in my yard....probably out there for at least 20 years. Got some tools out and went to town on the rust. After getting most of the rust off, took an SOS pad to it, then wash, and bacon grease. Into the oven for a few hours to season and it was as good as new. The two pounders barely fit, but I make it work, hahahah! Other hobbies, firearms and shooting sports, and iaido. I've been studying iaido for about 14 years but I'm still not very good...at either, lol! Quote
vladykins Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Nice save on the cast iron pan! You get yourself a big rib roast and prime rib is really easy. We have a pomegranite tree, so we'll cook some of the juice down to a syrup and then I make a horseradish pomegranit sauce for the prime rib that is awesome. Quote
