Apologies for cross-posting from the Wanted section, but perhaps the folks in the Workshop can help me. I don't really have any other recourse :(

The black piece on the cheek of my Yamato VF-19F 1/60 (circled) has fallen off and disappeared into the void. If someone has a spare for some odd reason, or more likely if someone has the skill set to re-create a similar piece from plastic that I can glue on, I will pay $50 USD +s/h.

Do u have any old or unwanted model kits? Might find something you could modify. Even better pull off the other one and do a symmetrical custom. ;)

I don't, not a modeler :( And I have no plastic crafting skills.

How big is that head? Could you put a ruler next to it?

Yamato 1/60 scale. Not very big. I still like the idea of pulling off the other one and doing a symmetrical custom.

A reasonable approximation would be fine, I mean otherwise it’ll just be empty space, like this

Much appreciated; I just need to see how wide it is (if you can put the ruler in front of it).

Okay, got measurements on it. Thanks; let me see what I can do with this,

BTW: are you in the US or elsewhere?

Wow, thanks so much for the effort pengbuzz. Yes I’m in the US. If you’re able to do it and send me a picture I can PayPal you the fee, then you can send it? Something like that?

Oh cool. So you're carving and cutting?

Yeah; I just need to make sure it's the appropriate size and shape given the measurements.

Sure; I just need to dremel in the indent in the front of the part. I also need to polish and paint it so it looks appropriate for your Valk.

Let me show you what I have so far; I'm pretty sure the measurements you showed were the metric side of the ruler, so I used that standard. I want to make sure it's exactly what you need before I send it out, so please let me know if anything doesn't look right:

In your photo, the piece was a slight tad over 1mm, so I tried to get as close a match to that in plastic thickness:

Yes it's metric. Looks great so far!

Great! I just got the last detail done and it's currently drying from the polishing and painting I did (gloss black to match the other piece you showed).

Going to shoot you a PM so we can discuss details.

Okay... here's the final pics on this. I did my best to get the end of it "cut-in":

It's been painted and clear-coated, but I may hit it with one more shot of clear to get it to the correct shine for you. This will be on its' way on Monday, as promised.

I was gonna say that this is the first I've seen of this, and I could've made one for you, but I would've needed the other side. Nevertheless, it looks like you are already on your way to getting it together, so that's great.

You might need to do both sides? Otherwise they may not match.

They should match; I'm working from multiple pics of this part.

Latest pics:

I decided to define the indent at the end a little better, and clear coated it one more time for good measure. I also took the time to compare with other pics of the VF-19F's head online, to check the part and how it would attach.

Thanks to @pengbuzz my boy has a face again! You rock so much! I thought he would be Twoface forever!

Bonus: an adorable penguin he drew in the packaging.

PS: I have to restate just how impressed I was that he did this without a copy of the piece in hand, only from pictures with rulers.

It’s funny how a little face fix can make me go from “going in the box to hide your shame” to “I’m transforming you twenty times a day again” but I guess we Macross fans are a weird lot.

Nahhh... ya gotta take the "woosh" factor into account. :D

Anyways, some music for your newly-repaired Valk:
