locidm Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I am getting more and more doubts on this. Yes I want all the products. But even Bandai has never released more than one or two products in the same line at the same time. KC is telling us they are taking preorders for 7 mechs and at least 4 figures without a prototype to show for it and asking for large amount of payment based on sketches. Quote
Corrinald Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Nice to see all of these being available, but no more preorders from me until they send me the armor sets I bought. Will also probably wait until I get my Kickstarter Glaug in hand too before they get any more of my money. Quote
Big s Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I don’t know why they’re doing Bodole Zer in armor, I remember him being extra tall and only shown in a robe in the show and as a bunch of slop with a funky head in the movie. Bretai is another odd choice. Quamzin or Kamjin or however you spell his name seems more like the obvious choice for the heavy armor. Quote

I'm hoping they come through....unlike Bandai, for the most part Macross is KC's main IP license....so can they crank out more than just a couple of items a year?...probably...will they be able to? Only time will tell....I definitely want the Destrods.... Edited February 24 by jvmacross Quote

You don't remember the scene in SDFM TV where Bodole Zer and Breetai appeared in their battle armor and went berserker on Hikaru's Vermillion Squadron? One of my favorite episodes.... Quote

Bretai is another odd choice. It's neither screen-accurate nor scale-accurate, of course, and in fact doesn't have anything to do with Macross. It's an ROI strategy, and every toy company does it. Tooling costs are by far the most expensive part of the manufacturing process, so you've got to use those molds as much as possible to keep costs reasonable. KC will sell you the same figure as many times as they can, simply by changing the head or changing the color scheme. The really craven toy companies will incorporate mold reuse into the media itself to justify this practice. 😉 Quote
NoctisTalem Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Hey so I was looking i to getting one of the VF-1S figures from Kitz mainly for the scale being 1/72, and was curious if anyone has pictures of any of the VF-1 releases next to the Hasegawa 1/72 Queadlunn Rau and Regult. Cause what i am currently using to scale with them is a Hi Metal R VF-1S. I would really appreciate it! Quote

I get that they want to keep selling it, but there were a few mostly unnamed guys wearing that heavy armor. Mostly the first of the zentraedi to be shown climbing out of a regult and there was a guy shown several times with long hair over an eye that accompanied Quamzin in a few episodes, don’t remember if that guy had a name or not. Even the light armor had a few guys that showed up here and there. Quote

Cause what i am currently using to scale with them is a Hi Metal R VF-1S. A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say... If your goal is either anime-accuracy or real-world physics, you're better off with your Hi-Metal R VF-1. While Bandai, Hasegawa, Max Factory, and even Kitz Concept have consistently relied on official Tatsunoko statistics for establishing Zentraedi mecha scale, the official stats never add up. Zentraedi pilots at 1:72 scale simply couldn't fit into those battle pods! The Regult is depicted considerably larger in the anime (as it would have to be IRL), so you can see how awkward Hasegawa's model scales with Max Factory's VF-1J battroid... or even Hasegawa's own Queadluun-Rau (which is based on the movie version, where the Zentraedi were scaled-down considerably anyway). My Hi-Metal R Max there is a lot closer to how a VF-1 should scale with a Regult, but it's still not perfect. Suffice it to say, we should go with whatever looks right to us, 'cause we care a lot more than the companies do. 😤 Quote

I think they should’ve made Warera bigger and Loli smaller. Hopefully they at least get the heads right. I still hate the armor colors Quote
Boobytrap Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Gundamit has put the Glaug, Recon Pod, and Khyron up for pre-order. Not sure how the final price will work out as it isn't listed yet. https://gundamit.com/c/kitzconcept_0397 Based on the previous KC items they have carried there is a markup vs the KC MSRP of ~10%. Unless KC's shipping is outrageous I'm sure KC will have the better end price since they heavily discount the pre-order price. The benefit would be minimal deposit which is refundable up until they request payment (which isn't until a couple of weeks before they receive the product), penalty free cancellations, and free shipping. Seeing all of the stories in here of undelivered product the peace of mind that you can put down a small deposit and cancel with no penalty might be worth it for some. I have yet to buy anything from KC other than Dana (thank you BBTS for not catching the increased price . Matter of fact, I just looked and they still have it for sale at that price). I figured that I would get the Glaug and Khyron though since I don't see anyone else doing them in this scale or larger any time soon. I will be pre-ordering from Gundamit so I don't have to deal with any of the KC shenanigans. If some other reliable shop, with easy cancellations, ends up carrying them at a lower price I can always jump over to that. Quote
mantisfists Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I'd be much more interested in the figures if they weren't all the same size. It's ridiculous to me that Breetai and Dolza are the same size as Bron and Rico. Quote

Big s Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I finally found a picture of the guy with the longer hair that was teamed up with Kamjin in a couple episodes. I don’t know if he’s ever named, but he wears a heavy armor and oddly it’s purple like the light armormost heavies are kinda brownish like the guy that jumped the gun at the mars ambush. Quote

jenius Posted Wednesday at 09:45 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:45 PM I believe the "with pilot" listings were an incentive to pre-order, now that it's been released, it makes sense there won't be listings with pilot and the pilot will need to be purchased separately. Quote
jvmacross Posted Wednesday at 10:12 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:12 PM Apparently the pilot that was initially offered with the early POs is now an "exclusive"....not sure if that means other pilot figs are coming with different faces? Would seem odd for KC not to milk the molds...for example, specific pilots for the missile-type Regults? Quote

I still am having trouble finding images of the light armor guys entering or exiting any regult other than the recon type. they seem to only show the heavy armor guys in them. Kinda wondering if the light armor guys are more technical and the heavy guys are just more tough and ready to get into the fight Quote

I'm not really going to use the Dolza or Breetai heads on my guys, but will instead keep the helmeted head on and use them merely as armored infantry. Personally, I'm going to preorder these in waves - all the April stuff at once, and see if it actually ships in April. Quote
