That Max figure looks terrible! What doesn’t make sense to me is someone had to approve that final design. How did they go from that prototype that actually looks like Max to some random looking guy wearing seaweed on their head and clown shoes?

I think I have this on pre-order..  I don't remember.        Gonna buck the trend here again,  not hung up on this one so I am gonna hold my opinion until I see it myself.

Pretty sure there is only one person making those calls at KC....you can simply post these questions on KC's Facebook page and he will either ignore you or double- down on his decisions...imo, he has made several decisions that I found to take his brand a few steps backwards beginning with the change he made with the leg tabs on his VF-1's.....this fig would be the latest change that made it worse compared to previously shown prototypes.....one can argue that using cloth is a bad decision in itself...at least for the current implementation....the next bad move may be the paint choices he has shown for the Zentran pilot figs....he really just needs to stick to the canon colors....no need to get creative on that...

I appreciate his passion. I'm sure if a toy sells like a turd or there's enough of a negative response, he'll get the message. Though i remain worried he went silent after the Kickstarter and he still hasn't shipped me my battlepods!

I believe the issue with the regult/battlepod is that potential customers have been turned off by what has been happening with the KC line before its release that even though the Regult is actually a solid release...the damage to their rep may be too great for many to overlook and give them another chance....the current Max fig doesn't help KC....it's probably now all up to the diehard fans to help KC through this hump....even though I do not particularly like the Max fig....they more or less kept their promis to release it close to when they said they would....I am guessing a March-April release for the first wave of Zentran figs....however, I won't wait that long before reaching out for an update if none is posted on their FB page...cautious optimism is all I can have at this point....

Your face modifications and hair definitely look far better than this ugly “professionally sculpted” toy. Everything on this new toy seems just wrong.

Honestly, that could’ve been the Taco Bell from the night before. Or I guess it could just be buyer’s remorse either way. Anyway, it’s a good excuse to get some new pants for the new year

I was disappointed at first too especially after having to wait so long for a preorder, but looking back at the OG pics from SDFM to compare, it's really growing on me.  Maybe I'm just being contrary after seeing all the negativity here, but I'm going to add some positivity and risk ridicule by saying... I think this is pretty good!  Is anyone else making Max figures that look half this good with such articulation?  Maybe a model kit, but ain't nobody got time for dat (and no articulation at all)!  Sure, there's some nitpicks to make, but it looks like Max and has REAL CLOTHES that are quite nice.  I am very happy to have finally gotten another great addition to their figure line up, and I hope they keep it up.  All I ask for is Kakizaki (and it better have a steak), but Global, Claudia, or even another Misa in real cloth would be killer.  Anyway, just my 2¢ and wanted to lend some perspective to what seems like a very negative reception.  I mean, there's a fan with a company out there that's still making toys from an 80's anime for crying out loud!  I'm so thankful for this.  Still not doing kickstarters tho.

I would have been ok if Max's uniform was sculpted plastic like Lisa's.  Max with soft goods looks like he's cosplaying in a uniform that's too big for him.  I'm hoping the Max pilot figure still gets released as it's not the "Advanced Figure" in dress uniform that was just released.

So basically everything I disliked from the preview pics...I still dislike with it now that I have in in-hand....

Additionally, the hands seem off...like too large for the fig...they are also difficult to remove and install...the gun in the pics is from the Hikaru fig.....without it every hand included just looks odd....and the weirdest accessory is a video game controller....guess a sort of homage to the video game scene in the show...I think a container with his video game tokens would have made more sense....

The only the face that I have installed is "ok"...the other 2 just don't seem right for his character....

This is easily the worst Macross fig release from KC....I don't regret the purchase, but hope that their next release...the Zentran figs...will make up for it....time will tell....

Damn, that is fugly. Cancelling my preorder now.

The bigger problem is that even bad cosplay looks better than this. This thing looks more like a third grader tried to draw max from memory without a picture to go on. It’s just garbage.

Sadly, based on past 'mistakes'....KC usually double downs on things pointed out as needing improvement....poor sales may be the only way to get the message across...
