rsvictor1976 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) That Max figure looks terrible! What doesn’t make sense to me is someone had to approve that final design. How did they go from that prototype that actually looks like Max to some random looking guy wearing seaweed on their head and clown shoes? Edited January 24 by rsvictor1976 Quote
Stampeed Valkyrie Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 I think I have this on pre-order.. I don't remember. Gonna buck the trend here again, not hung up on this one so I am gonna hold my opinion until I see it myself. Quote

How did they go from that prototype that actually looks like Max to some random looking guy wearing seaweed on their head and clown shoes? Pretty sure there is only one person making those calls at KC....you can simply post these questions on KC's Facebook page and he will either ignore you or double- down on his decisions...imo, he has made several decisions that I found to take his brand a few steps backwards beginning with the change he made with the leg tabs on his VF-1's.....this fig would be the latest change that made it worse compared to previously shown prototypes.....one can argue that using cloth is a bad decision in itself...at least for the current implementation....the next bad move may be the paint choices he has shown for the Zentran pilot figs....he really just needs to stick to the canon colors....no need to get creative on that... jenius Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I appreciate his passion. I'm sure if a toy sells like a turd or there's enough of a negative response, he'll get the message. Though i remain worried he went silent after the Kickstarter and he still hasn't shipped me my battlepods! Quote
jvmacross Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I believe the issue with the regult/battlepod is that potential customers have been turned off by what has been happening with the KC line before its release that even though the Regult is actually a solid release...the damage to their rep may be too great for many to overlook and give them another chance....the current Max fig doesn't help KC....it's probably now all up to the diehard fans to help KC through this hump....even though I do not particularly like the Max fig....they more or less kept their promis to release it close to when they said they would....I am guessing a March-April release for the first wave of Zentran figs....however, I won't wait that long before reaching out for an update if none is posted on their FB page...cautious optimism is all I can have at this point.... Seriously, I did a better Max figure using an old Matchbox Robotech figure than they managed to produce: Your face modifications and hair definitely look far better than this ugly “professionally sculpted” toy. Everything on this new toy seems just wrong. Quote

jenius Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Turns out i missed an email last night saying my pods are on the way so huzzah. Quote
Pontus Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I was disappointed at first too especially after having to wait so long for a preorder, but looking back at the OG pics from SDFM to compare, it's really growing on me. Maybe I'm just being contrary after seeing all the negativity here, but I'm going to add some positivity and risk ridicule by saying... I think this is pretty good! Is anyone else making Max figures that look half this good with such articulation? Maybe a model kit, but ain't nobody got time for dat (and no articulation at all)! Sure, there's some nitpicks to make, but it looks like Max and has REAL CLOTHES that are quite nice. I am very happy to have finally gotten another great addition to their figure line up, and I hope they keep it up. All I ask for is Kakizaki (and it better have a steak), but Global, Claudia, or even another Misa in real cloth would be killer. Anyway, just my 2¢ and wanted to lend some perspective to what seems like a very negative reception. I mean, there's a fan with a company out there that's still making toys from an 80's anime for crying out loud! I'm so thankful for this. Still not doing kickstarters tho. Quote
sh9000 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I would have been ok if Max's uniform was sculpted plastic like Lisa's. Max with soft goods looks like he's cosplaying in a uniform that's too big for him. I'm hoping the Max pilot figure still gets released as it's not the "Advanced Figure" in dress uniform that was just released. Quote

So basically everything I disliked from the preview pics...I still dislike with it now that I have in in-hand.... Additionally, the hands seem off...like too large for the fig...they are also difficult to remove and install...the gun in the pics is from the Hikaru fig.....without it every hand included just looks odd....and the weirdest accessory is a video game controller....guess a sort of homage to the video game scene in the show...I think a container with his video game tokens would have made more sense.... The only the face that I have installed is "ok"...the other 2 just don't seem right for his character.... This is easily the worst Macross fig release from KC....I don't regret the purchase, but hope that their next release...the Zentran figs...will make up for it....time will tell.... Damn, that is fugly. Cancelling my preorder now. Quote

nightmareB4macross Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Unix Square KC Collectibles. For three non-transformable figs? These might be going to the bargain bin promptly after release. They look nice, but the price is extremely off putting. Quote
jenius Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I thought this was a kids logic collaboration, not Kitz Concept. There's a thread for it. Quote

MKT Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Haven't been up-to-date on news lately, but seeing the pics of Max.. he seems to actually look worse than KC's earlier sample. The clothes are really ill-fitting, look cheap, and the face sculpt looks to be modelled after their own artwork (the box art) rather than being anime accurate. It brings to mind a mass-produced Ken figure to a Barbie doll, rather than a collectible that we are normally used to. I liked and still like flight-suit Rick which has the same 'advanced figure' concept, and Dana was great, but Max feels like it's made by entirely another party. Quote
derex3592 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Agreed. The Rick, especially the Roy, and Dana were great premium looking figures, this one though......wowzers...🤐🤢🤮 Quote
jvmacross Posted Monday at 01:55 AM Posted Monday at 01:55 AM KC just sent an update regarding the Kickstarter....looks like he was working on the prod schedule and will now work on tweaking the designs and the molds.... He also said that anyone who backed the kickstarter can buy any item they did not back at the kickstarter price..... Quote
Radioguy Posted Monday at 03:17 AM Posted Monday at 03:17 AM KC Update: Quote Dear Supporters, Thank you all for your patience! It has been two months since the Kickstarter campaign ended successfully, and I want to take this opportunity to explain the situation and apologize for the lack of updates. After the campaign was successfully funded, I immediately focused on arranging the production schedule. This was especially critical to ensure that all steps were properly planned and finalized before the Chinese New Year holiday. Once everything was in place, I took an extended holiday. Now that the New Year holiday has ended, and factories are gradually resuming normal operations, I am fully committed to following up on the product design and mold-making progress. I will share updates step by step with all of you very soon. In addition, many of you have reached out to me regarding products you may have missed. I deeply appreciate every single one of you who participated in the Kickstarter campaign and supported this project. As a token of my appreciation, I will honor my promise: if you were a part of this campaign, you will still be able to purchase the product(s) you want at the original Kickstarter price. Please contact me individually as soon as possible to let me know which product(s) you’d like to purchase. I will send you an invoice via PayPal so you won’t miss out on this opportunity. Thank you again for your incredible support and patience! I will be providing more frequent updates moving forward—stay tuned! Thanks! Cyrus Quote
judgedoug Posted Tuesday at 02:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:58 PM The Light and Heavy missile battle pods have been rereleased at a stellar price for such massive toys. The Glaug and Recon pods are officially up for preorder, too. Quote

judgedoug Posted Tuesday at 04:27 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:27 PM The fact that their "1/72" stuff is "Robotech 1/72" so is essentially all 1/60 for Macross means that I'm going whole hog on all their non-VF releases (though I do have a few of their VFs, which are pretty alright, and very cheap in the US market) Quote
