I may give in and order a Glaug, but am otherwise hesitant for the same reasons as others here. Curiously, Destroids orders are low, it's more the success of the kickstarter that boosted orders Quote
sh9000 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 It didn't get enough for the Phalanx. I decided not to order anything. Quote
jvmacross Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I assume the amount needed was to be able to cover production costs for everything listed? I see that the Defender was unlocked, but the kickstarter was closed by the time I could potentially add it. Hopefully it gets made and I can pick one up at some point... I really hope this all works out....the Max figure should be the next one released, per KC... Quote

Radioguy Posted December 6 Posted December 6 If they had got a SDF-1 out before Arcadia supposedly gets to their reissue, and Bandai gets to their vaporware release, it would've bumped up their street cred quite a bit. I half expected to see it in the list at a higher tier. Quote

MacrossJunkie Posted December 14 Posted December 14 Wow, I only just learned about the existence of these battlepods by KC. Looks like I missed out on the crowdfunding. How big are these actually? Do they look like they would scale okay with the Arcadia VF-1's if you don't look at it too hard? Quote
varitechs Posted December 14 Posted December 14 (edited) It's Big 😉. VF-1j left is KC VF-1j Brown is Yamato Edited December 14 by varitechs Quote

Not sure if you own any other VF-1's from other brands...but here is how they look besides KC's Regult... KC's VF-1... Threezero VF-1... Bandai HMR VF-1... Here it is next to Bandai HMR Regult... jenius Posted December 14 Posted December 14 If you believe the official specs, they are 1/60 scale in the Macross universe and scale perfectly with a Yamato. Of course, they were often depicted as being much larger in the show. You would have to backward engineer a proper height from the most consistent sizes represented in the show to figure out which VF-1 scales best 'to your memory'. Quote
sh9000 Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I'm sticking to one KC Battlepod just to have one in the collection. I'm fine with my HMR Regults going well with my HMR VF-1s. Quote

Yeah, I recall that sizes were depicted rather inconsistently within the show. Not to mention the old Yamato 1/60 Regult was absolutely huge and was on the extreme tall end of depictions. Quote
jvmacross Posted December 15 Posted December 15 I always return to this lineart drawing for my preferred scale among all of the SDFM mecha... ...with that said KC's VF-1 scales well with the KC Battlepod...not surprising...I really hope KC comes through with everything they have teased and promised...although Bandai can beat them easily in recreating this iconic illustration by simply releasing their HMR Tomahawk...easier said than done I suppose.... Big s Posted December 15 Posted December 15 11 hours ago, tekering said: And yet still, much too small... 😒 I do like this one, because it can be imagined that the pilot is actually as tall as a vf-1 battroid. Although the size thing is always gonna be confusing since it really wasn’t standardized in the og show Quote

jenius Posted December 15 Posted December 15 Maybe that depicts the real world sizes and, for purposes of the dramatized TV retelling of events, they made everything alien bigger for dramatic purposes. Quote

Was it just the story boards? Quote

Exactly....nothing shown in the TV shows, OVAs, and films can be taken as fact.... "In-Universe" it would make no sense for Humanity to develop fighting machines that, based on the data gathered within the crashed ASS-1, would have put us at such an extreme size disadvantage to a potential alien adversary... I honestly always thought the goal was to make them in size with the Zentraedi so they could make it down their hallways in their ships for infiltration. Although they rarely did anything like that. Basically large enough to fight them and small enough not to get stuck Quote
MKT Posted December 15 Posted December 15 Maybe their mecha have several sizes, just like clothes. It's such a tight fit for the soldiers, so they could almost be like some sort of wearable lol. This is why we see them smaller or bigger depending on scenes. Quote

I am tainted by Robotech but I thought the mecha were designed based on inference of the height of the beings that would have occupied the ship. So the VF-1 is larger than the tallest a zentran seemed like it would be while still small enough to navigate their corridors. Quote

Or just cool enough to share a smoke with Honestly, this scene shouldn’t work. It probably would’ve just torn the cigarette to bits. I think the head lasers would’ve worked better. Although, I don’t really know if anyone has ever tried lighting a smoke with a gun of any type. I guess I need more redneck buddies Quote

I feel there is some potential for this...for example, Zentran designed to pilot the Glaug would be bigger...not necessarily bigger mecha within the same type of mecha....I believe the Protoculture specifically designed the Zentran as per the roles needed for then to fill...thus the wide range of sizes among their soldiers and commander types...again, this works for my head canon.... This. Also, the HMR VF-1 scales well with the HMR Regult, the Toynami 1/100 VF-1 scales well with the Toynami 1/100 Battlepod, and the Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1 scales well with the Hasegawa 1/72 Regult. PNW_Sweetie Posted December 16 Posted December 16 So the email I just got from BBTS says that the BattlePod description has been edited to remove the Glug-ger being included. It does not mention being shipped free at a later date. I feel I’m about to cancel my pre-order Quote

The company should keep their promises and I can’t blame bbts for having to update the description. Maybe try contacting bbts and see if they have any information on the situation before making a decision. Either way, their stuff usually doesn’t sell out and to could probably just order later if you change your mind Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted December 16 Posted December 16 So is it because KC no longer gonna provide it for people that ordered them and paid/m for them already or is it that bbts didn't want to deal with getting them in from KC and shipping them out together? If it's the former that's messed up and will no longer support KC. If it's the latter I would urge everyone to cancel their bbts preorders. Quote

They’ve been shipping the regult without a pilot already and may provide retailers with the figures to fulfill the preorders at a later date, but it’s not really certain. I think bbts just had to put that in the description since the regult will come into stock before the pilot is even finalized. Quote
