Returning to television soon in the Philippines is Japanese anime series “Voltes V,” but this time as a live action remake brought by GMA 7 Network. A teaser of the new series called “Voltes V Legacy” was released on New Year’s Eve.

Not a fan of Voltes; but love the fact that is is actually happening on television in a LA setting. Hopefully this can be catalyst for other/ similar projects.

Voltes V would be part of a trilogy called "robot romance trilogy" with the other two chapters being Daimos and Combattler V. Although the three series are not tied together in any way. Anyway it looks more like full CGI rather than live action to me. Once again, i have to say leave the legends rest in peace.

I am interested how they 'remake' this, though I just hope it's not a trainwreck. I also doubt their ability to keep up quality based on this teaser video.

So was 99.99% of all the DX Voltes SOC bought up by the Filipinos?

I'm a mere fraction of 1% of that since I only bought one unit.

Question still stands. Is Voltes V entirely or mostly a Filipino thing?

To answer it, it becomes a part of our pop culture. The song. The anime. The robot. And what it's promoting. It was a big thing back then when it was shown. And it affects most of us when then-President Marcos banned the broadcasting of the last 5 episodes I believe, due to excessive violence and harmful effects on children.

But people's speculations is that the series was banned due to underlying themes of rebellion and revolution. And to be frank, we are being ruled back then by a dictator and he doesn't want people to oppress him.

And we finally got the chance of finishing the complete series after he was overthrown during the 1986 People Power Revolution.

I guess, to simplify it, it's one of those things that all Filipinos, young and old, can relate to.

Under what line would this be?

No specific yet. No news also if it's a combiner. My safe guess is probably under the Chogokin line. But take this with a grain of salt because most of the figures displayed in the Tamashii Nations 2023 event says 'For Display Only' on the product name plates.
