Big s Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I didn’t see an existing section, but it looks like wave is doing a new kit based on the old 77 illustrations from Japan. It’s a bit pricey for 1/20 scale, but might be fun for dioramas Quote
Dynaman Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 At least the description of "Guy in a gorilla suit" looks like it applies though the design is probably too boxy. I ought to watch that anime sometime. Quote

IIRC Miyatake originally drew it for Hayakawa's translation of the novel, then used it in DAICON III and DAICON IV before it was polished further and used in Studio Nue's unauthorized 1988 Starship Troopers OVA. 4 hours ago, Dynaman said: At least the description of "Guy in a gorilla suit" looks like it applies though the design is probably too boxy. Studio Nue's 1988 Starship Troopers OVA is easily the most faithful film adaptation of Heinlein's original novel by a significant margin... which is a double-edged sword, in that Miyatake did a pretty good job turning the descriptions of the Marauder into something the animators could use and that the story's boring as f*ck for the most part. Bolt Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 (edited) This is a classic design here, probably older than most of the members on MW. (1981!) Many Otaku in Japan will appreciate this. He's also the designer of the SDF-1 and Many more Macross works.. Edited December 16, 2019 by Bolt Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I think the Revoltech line did the suit better, but this one still has its charm. Quote

tekering Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Nice Bug! Stands 10cm tall, which makes it (and the soldier figures) about 1:32 scale. And at a retail price of ¥11000, it's only about twice what I'd be willing to pay. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Yeah... Give me Miyatake's original design over the crappy BMX bike pads any day. Quote
apptt4 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 that Bug is lovely and i dig the injured soldier Quote
Knight26 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I love that set, wish the figures were bigger, but still awesome Quote
