Thom Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 (edited) I could see them trying to introduce a younger team of GBs but still focusing on the original remaining actors. But it will be different. There have been too many years in between for it not to be, but that's not important. What is, is the feel of the movie. That buddy/buddy/buddy/buddy feeling, where you can tell they care for each other but rip on each other intelligently and in ways that showcase and progress their personal relationships. If they can do that again, then I don't cariof the main plot is overly complex or incredibly simple, just as long as it holds water. Edited February 2, 2019 by Thom Quote

The idiots in charge didn't understand the original material(or didn't care) and decided to make their own vision instead, and hoped the built in audience would be dumb enough to just show up. I agree with your take. There seems to be a lot of that unfortunately when it comes to adapting pop culture/comics/manga, you name it. In the case of Ghostbusters the reboot, they got so much wrong I don't know where to start. Not too excited about this upcoming sequel, but it cannot be much worse, IMO. Quote

jvmacross Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Already looks better than the "reboot"... Quote
Mommar Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I’m going to have to see some actual footage to decide it carries the same spirit of the originals. Quote
Dobber Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Teaser trailer Monday. Please be good, Please be good... Chris Quote
TangledThorns Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 The premise sounds lame but who knows. Quote

Thom Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 As long as they treat it right and honor the previous two movies, while making this new chapter compelling in its own right, then I'll be happy. Can't wait till Monday! Quote

Nightbat Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 I stick with my principle: If it doesn't have the old cast, it sucks by definition Quote

This franchise deserves redemption, but not counting on it to happen... Quote

The second one had the entire cast and it sucked... I'm looking forward to seeing the old gang again (or most of them at any rate). I don't remember if Rick Moranis was coming out of retirement for this one. Quote

Convectuoso Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I really like what I'm seeing here. Good trailer Quote
TangledThorns Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 So instead of a all female cast we get all kids? Where is the comedy?? This looks too much like Stranger Things and will bomb just like the last reboot. Quote
Mommar Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I guess the tribute to Harold Ramis is his kid here? This trailer hasn't sold me on anything at all. Quote
Dobber Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Not bad... but not great. I am interested though. Chris Quote
derex3592 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I'm cautiously optimistic. It IS the kid from Stranger Things actually, so that's kinda funny. I hope they are keeping the scenes with the OG stars under wraps for now. Quote
valkyrie_cadman Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 So......we're going to go with the GOONIES route with this one....where children save the world???.....mmmmmmmm......ok......... Quote
505thAirborne Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I was enjoying the trailer until the kids were driving Ecto-1 & saw that it was written by Gil Kenan... I'll wait for reviews before seeing it. Quote
peter Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Afterlife....so is the original crew dead and they're coming back as ghosts? Were they the kid's parents or grandparents? Quote
peter Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) Doesn't look like it has much comedy in it, maybe Paul Rudd will bring that to the table, he can be a pretty funny dude, but the tone of the trailer didn't scream comedy to me. Edited December 9, 2019 by peter Quote
Dynaman Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 NYC was one of the things that made Ghostbusters - some dinky town in the middle of nowhere doesn't cut it. The odds of this being a rental instead of theater movie went way up Quote
