Mog Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Okay, then we’ll just refer to it as the “reimagined” SDFN-4 Global from Frontier. 😉 Quote

HardlyNever Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Still excited about this release and still in for one. Also still wondering where the fast packs are. Hopefully we'll get a glimpse of them before release (and they'll be included with the valk, not sold separately...) Quote

I honestly can't see any differences between the 2 Most likely the same prototype. Just already loose. Bandai Bandai'd themselves... Quote
no3Ljm Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) More photos from Otakon2023. Edited July 28, 2023 by no3Ljm Quote
Chronocidal Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 I seriously don't think they could have made that look any less impressive to present if they had tried. It looks like a skeleton hanging on a rack. Maybe it's because it's a "villain" valk, they just have no expectations that it will sell? Quote
borgified Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Another case of Mr. Guld McErkle pants or Mom Jeans Guld? 🤨 Quote
Knight26 Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Aside from the color I can't tell the differences, are there any? Quote
jenius Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Not a color difference, a lighting difference. Quote
MikeRoz Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) Photos from multiple angles, in case there are differences Edited July 28, 2023 by MikeRoz Quote
Chronocidal Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Wow.. I don't think we'd had any pics from those angles before. That torso is deep. Quote
MikeRoz Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 That back angle photo is bugging me now that I'm looking at it on something other than my phone screen. I'll re-take it with proper focus tomorrow. Let me know if there is anything else you would like focus on. Quote

If ever you're going to have an opportunity again on taking new photos, can you see if you can have a glimpse on if those side skirts can be pose angled towards the back. I have a feeling that it can't due to the backpack. Thanks! Quote
MikeRoz Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Hey now, upskirt photos was one of those things specifically mentioned as not allowed at Otakon. The staff would kick me out and Guld would call the police on me. Quote
Alex GS Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 the PO for the DX Chogokin YF 21 is closer for sure. Quote
Froy Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 *checking the date on my phone* No, it is not April 1st. All cool. Quote
MKT Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 This must be the first time a Bandai Macross being officially confirmed in this way. Could it be acknowledging all the feedback from fans to release it already? Quote
sh9000 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 The YF-19 next to the YF-21 is all like, "Snap out of that boring standing position with two arms to the sides before I punch you in the face." Quote

Another reason to appreciate what the Yamato design was able to pull off. Yeah, the legs are skinny, but they pulled off a solid design that looks good in all three modes. Still haven’t seen Gerwalk for Bandai’s rendition all this time either. Quote
sjoebarry Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 gotta be honest, the more i see it, the less i like it....... Quote
Knight26 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 While all the details are nice, the thickness just doesn't sit right with me. Nor do I like the narrow back plate (between the engines) the collapsing nacelles are interesting but need to see more pictures all around to make a good judgement. Still prefering the small legged Yamato at this point. Quote
borgified Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 How much money you’re planning to overspend this time @ValkAddict? You might as give up your extra unwanted organs and plasma to the black market to find your plastic crack fixes. 😉 Quote
Shawn Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 I had never noticed the back engines slide in-interesting approach to not having them hang down so low Could you get a shot of the engines outlets? I hope they are not just square and share some angulations! I always loved this line art Quote

Chronocidal Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Yeah, but the difference there is that Bandai's has five trunks' worth of junk back there, and has to collapse twice. There look to be two separate sliding actions involved, with both the forward streamlined fairings and the rear boxy portions all moving up. That's what I feel is the biggest detractor from the fighter mode, the giant chonky butt this thing has. If they had extended the arms to be longer (which is also very much needed) and stretched the wings further back, putting the tails more toward the exhausts, it would have helped the wonky proportions a lot, but the tails look so close to the center of lift that it would actually render them useless as control surfaces. Chronocidal Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 (edited) The angle might be ruining the perspective, but it's telling that all of that collapsing still leaves the backplate looking so much taller than the Yamato version. Edited July 29, 2023 by Chronocidal Quote
Mog Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 And Bandai’s backpack thrusters are sitting lower when compared to the legs. Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Saw a post about this on Reddit. Was happy to see it wasn't vaporware and came here excited to see more photos of it and see what revisions they made to it after all this time. Disappointed now that it looks to be the same old thing they trotted out years ago. Quote

I honestly think I prefer the Yamato even in Battroid, just based on pictures. At this point about the only thing pushing me to get this is that I don't have a Yamato and they're so expensive now.
