albeaker Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Just got a letter that issues 102 and up are delayed. I had wondered why they were about a week overdue for charging my card. takatoys Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Video of my Hachette, bring on the strike parts! Edited February 28, 2022 by takatoys Quote
Grey728 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Fantastic work! I wish I had been brave enough to panel line and paint mine. I love how you got your landing gear to work properly. Mine still catches when opening and closing. It’s really annoying. Quote

This mod helps to open the doors just enough, so they won’t catch when closing. Quote

Grey728 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Thank you @takatoys. I wish I had seen these earlier when I was still building it. Instead, I tried Hachette's method of sanding down the landing gear doors and that didn't help all that much. I'll save your video so if/when I have time to take apart my VF-1 and fix this. Also, since I'm lazy, I'm hoping that the Strike Set comes with a new controller that doesn't open/close the landing gear at all and instead gives us a different automated sequence to mess around with. Edit: I was able to see your movie on my phone the first time. Now that I'm trying to save it I can't seem to get to it anymore. Edited February 27, 2022 by Grey728 Quote
sqidd Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I saw this auction yesterday for the entire set at $1979.56. It had 5min left when I saw it. I didn't have time to think about it and look into if I could still get the Strike Parts so I didn't bid. Kind of wish I did. https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/w1047337193?conversionType=browsing_history No idea where I would put it. But I want one! Quote
Darth Mingus Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Shipping would be have been insane. it would probably be expensive to ship to Buyee and then over the moon to ship to the US. But I would love to own one as well... Quote
Grey728 Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 I found this on BigBadToyStore that could work as a substitute for those of us who didn't manage to snag a pilot figure exclusive. I think the car is the main attraction but I'm in for the pilot figure. It's 1/24 scale too. There's also a Rick Hunter edition as well. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/210588 Quote
505thAirborne Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 If anyone here has the cash & are thinking "screw it, I'll take the plunge" here's one a few complete sets that are available. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165484379034?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110013%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIMRXI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20211130131610%26meid%3D35f487dece4442f4bad5c94fec0ac0ad%26pid%3D101470%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D284982285030%26itm%3D165484379034%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D3650466%26algv%3DPersonalizedV1_1%26brand%3DHachette&_trksid=p3650466.c101470.m2821&amdata=cksum%3A16548437903435f487dece4442f4bad5c94fec0ac0ad|enc%3AAQAHAAAA8KvVpLM%2FL%2FYbyLgq7kTmGAb2zejWnjbGXAbg1dtkfTLvdnEwZmXBAQoVdysHL4%2BitTyPXRxKVBjuN34zoQFDrfwhi12ZlTvd9eHqkrbPvrp1hLBUpQplPhRmOpsV7L6OGcZ5uRItxClpiylCjyIouaGHi8Q1wJd7zhRlAq%2BhEj4tmCNJ9SXG547%2Ft4S27%2BindF8OBFxbpsSOfLA7QhCfWBTgNgeHiRl0WqAD5RbmbdhOLMjKPCxBUMGBrfUoD6JPgzyi68x5Gwv7tUkQ95CSy7FkB3uWhVFC2jGZtZB4E12TYhfhMaH05Xld4XInCxr9CQ%3D%3D|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A3650466 Quote
Chronocidal Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 YOUCH.. I mean, I expected the big ticket price, but the $500 shipping really kills it for me Quote
505thAirborne Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Yeah that $480.00 for shipping is probably a deal breaker for many. Then again, imagine the shipping box all of those parts in smaller boxes has to come in... Quote
Sanity is Optional Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 I have the full set of 100 (and up though 30-something of the supers). $500 shipping sounds about right, those boxes take up a lot of space. Quote
takatoys Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I just finished the first half of the Strike parts. There is no color guidance for the inner parts, I painted them as I thought would look attractive without overloading too much 😉 Quote
Sanity is Optional Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Painting looks good, but I think I’ll go fore a more subdued set of greys and silvers. Quote
Knight26 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) The paint job is amazing, let me start with that. I love it. The colors look good to me for the most part, accurate to what the items would likely be, power modules, capacitors, metallic relays of copper and gold, etc... Even the brightly anodized parts make some sense in order to keep them from getting mixed up. The cabling however would mostly be white with clear ID tags on them. The colored wires would be inside the white shielding. Edited October 14, 2022 by Knight26 Quote

I opted for the “anime look” instead of going “realistic” Quote

Wow, that’s a lot of packaging. will you be doing a straight from the manual assembly or doing a custom build? Hikaru type? Weathered? More detailed? Would love to see and follow your progress as you go. Quote

Going to try and marathon it over the Christmas/new years break, but I'll snap some pics for a photo album. Quote

That was my first thought as well, then I realized the picture was probably taken with a wide-angle lens or with panorama mode turned on. That is also impressive because otherwise it wouldn't have all fit in the frame without stepping back about ten feet! Edited December 24, 2022 by Anasazi37 Quote

You are correct, couldn't step back enough to get everything in frame, so it's a panorama while leaning backwards over a cat climber. Quote
Shawn Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Was thinking about something weird today I saw this video... And it is incredible and all that...but it did something I never see. It launched the missiles but kept the mounting pylons on the wings In the animation we never see empty pylons on the wings after launch. Do they just eject them into space along with the empty missile boxes? Is there a factory onboard the SDF-1 that just makes pylons and missile boxes since they are throwaway/disposable after each battle? Or do they have Over-Technology 'air tags' in space and a cleanup crew goes around after a battle and collects them all for re-use. 😛 Quote

The magically retract when the missiles are launched. The process is hidden by the smoke the missiles create so the animators never have to think about it. All joking aside, I wonder if anyone thought about them or if they did, if the message just never got to the animators. Quote
