Kanedas Bike Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Pretty good casting, especially if the new Blade is similar tonally to the New Line Cinema Blade films (at least the first 2 and not the awful Blade:Trinity). -b. Quote
ErikElvis Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 According to that article we may be getting another fantastic 4. Yay......... Quote
TangledThorns Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Gonna be hard to top Wesley Snipes, especially if they don't make it rated R. He brought real street to the role. Quote
Mog Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Ali can definitely bring it. His Cottonmouth in Luke Cage Season 1 was a damn good foil. That character was gangster to the core but with a set of standards. Quote
hachi Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 The Blade movies were good for their time, I wonder how they will make this interesting considering it will probably not be R-rated. Quote
Nightbat Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 ....reboot "Some ............s are always trying to ice skate uphill." Quote

TangledThorns Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Gonna take a lot to beat the style of the original Blade films, the first two at least. Quote

I remember first seeing the trailer for the first MATRIX thinking it looked it borrowed from BLADE in style with martial arts, lots of tight fitting black leather (very 1990s!) and coats plus SFX with slo-mo bullets. It was the style back then. I kinda get confused sometimes on which of them came first. Eventually there was Equilibrium and quite a few other stylized long leather jacket acrobats. The comics had a lot less of that attitude and style though, and the current mcu has a very different style, but still feels a bit like some of the extreme stuff from the older 90’s even with the more serious movies and I’m curious to see if this turns out more late 90’s style or modern or trash like morbius or if they try to keep things a bit more grounded. I’d be super surprised if they went with a more grounded approach and they probably will end up more similar to the older movies than the old comic stuff. Quote

TangledThorns Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Ali is a good actor and I suspect he can only take so much crap before quitting himself. Quote

TangledThorns Posted October 24 Posted October 24 What a joke and Ali should move on before he starts receiving Social Security checks, lol. That being said most people may not be aware but BLADE was the first major motion picture blockbuster for a Marvel comic character. Quote

Nah, most people are aware of it since it’s the first thing anyone talks about when Blade gets brought up these days. Its the new version of the Peter Venkman/Garfield actor / voice actor swap thing Quote

Tking22 Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I remember reading Disney/Marvel thought Snipes was too old to carry a new Blade franchise, but Ali is up there too, and yeah, Snipes just played Blade again and he is still perfect, just dump what they have and start from scratch with Snipes at this point.
