Any Chance of a 1/60 Max or Hikaru VF-1S?

I know a lot of people are pretty much done with the 1/60 VF-1s, but it just seems weird to me that Yamato hasn't released either Max or Hikaru VF-1S' in that line. A lot of people talk about the 1/60 line being the "complete" line but how can any line be complete w/o those two toys?

Especially with the Milia Q-Rau coming out soon, I'd really love a Max VF-1S to recreate that great scene from DYRL?.

Any info at all on the possibilities???

I gather that both the 1/60 and 1/48 Max DYRL VF-1A didn't sell too well, which is probably why Yamato is reluctant to make a DYRL VF-1S Max in either scale. I've always found this strange, as for years fans clamoured for a DYRL Max Valk and then when it's finally released, not many people buy them........oh well, go figure!

I suppose it's still possible we might see a DYRL VF-1S Max in the future in either 1/60 or 1/48 as the only new expense for Yamato is in the box design. However, the market is pretty much flooded with 1/48s at the moment and 1/60s just doesn't sell now (you can hardly give them away). If we do ever see a VF-1S Max, it probably won't be for a year or two, when the market is not so saturated and demand is higher.

As for a VF-1S Hikaru, I agree Yamato should have also released this in 1/60 scale. I suppose they may still release it especially as this year (2004) is the 20th anniversery of DYRL. However, since the 1/48 came out sales of the 1/60 have been dropping and there is little demand for recolored 1/60 toys. I have a feeling that the VF-1J with GBP armor may be the last 1/60 VF-1 toy we see for a long while.

A pity, really... but it makes sense economically. While I'm excited about the resurgence of VF-1 toys out there, I hope Yamato considers branching out soon.. if they can make VF-1 toys that kick this much ass, I'm DYING to see what else they can do (in either 1/60, 1/72, or 1/48)... there's so much other cool valkyries out there.

I know the 1/48 is a culmination of much trial and error, but I hope the same quality and ingenuity goes into their future products!

Graham, thank you so much for being our voice into the R&D department and telling these guys what we want... without you guys overseas I don't know how we'd be able to collect what we do!

Thanks for the input Graham! :)

But I'm just really disappointed to hear that chances aren't too good... :(

Well personally, I feel like VF-1A's in general wouldn't sell nearly as well as a VF-1S. Seems to me like it was a mistake to make the VF-1A Max instead of the VF-1S. Isn't Max vs. Milia is one of the most popular rivalries in the whole Macross saga? It's one of the rare instances we actually get a one-on-one duel where we know both pilots. And yet Max flies the VF-1S in that battle (in DYRL), not the VF-1A.

I dunno...my personal opinion is that the VF-1S is just way better looking thatn the VF-1A. It'd be one thing if Max never flew the VF-1S, but since we all know he does....and does so in the duel, it makes me not want to buy the VF-1A.

Hikaru too...I just love the VF-1S mechs in general over any of the other VF-1s...so it kills me to see more of the others.

Maybe if the 1/48 Hikaru VF-1S sells well they'll consider it?

I suppose they may still release it especially as this year (2004) is the 20th anniversery of DYRL.

Hey Graham, since it is the 20th anniversary of DYRL, are there any special DYRL related things coming out this year??? :D

I have a feeling part of that may be answered soon.

I would love a Strike Hikaru VF-1S in 1/60. I have wanted that one for a long time. I unfortunately can't bring myself to justifying the cost of buying a Hikaru 1S + another set of Fast Packs in 1/48 when I already have a 1A Hikaru and Strike Roy. A 1/60 Hikaru 1S I wouldn't hesitate on. If only I was a richer man. :( I certainly hope if there is to be a final 1/60 VF-1, it would be that for the anniversary.

As for a Max 1S, I just bought a 1/60 Max 1A from Kevin, and I am doing the usual trick of taking the right wing and head off my old 1/60 non-FP Roy and making my Max 1S. What's left will become a Kakizaki. Then I'll see what I can come up with for them and Millia's Q-rau.

Yes, only minus the Fast Pack armor. Would be nice, but Max's 1S didn't have it anyway, and the 1/60 will be a little more posable without it, so I'm not too worried about it.

Man that Max VF-1S looks sweet...too bad some of us don't have random old VFs lying around to do customs... :(

...and some of us don't even know how to do customs...

I'm both!

Well they've all practically been done anyways.

Hopefully Yamato can concentrate on a 1/60 Regult and pump out its variants.

AMEN TO THAT!!!

I'm praying the Q-Rau sells well so that Yamato sees the potential profits in enemy mechs. The market is so flooded with VFs of every different shape and form that something new like a Glaug, and/or Regult would be an awesome change of pace.

The Q-Rau is an awesome step in the right direction...hopefully Yamato runs with it.
