Shawn Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Not sure it quite fits in here, but maybe. Over the decades have been collecting discount movie coupons and tickets. They are usually found pretty darn cheap, so it is fun finding all the variations!! Quote
jvmacross Posted August 15, 2020 Author Posted August 15, 2020 Nice....add the Lobby Cards and we can setup a mini movie theatre mock-up! Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Did you know there was a model kit associated with the release of the movie? Long ago on YJA I came across a non-scale model kit of an SDF-1 in a white box with Macross printed in black and according to the description it was said to be a movie release giveaway. IiRC, the box also had printed reference of the release of the movie. I had bid on the item but when I won it the seller decided to keep the item and I was SOL on acquiring it. Like a numb but, I forgot to save pictures of the listing as I was really excited Over it and was the only one bidding for it. Had I won I would have posted pictures of it. Quote
jvmacross Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Yes, I think I know which one you are referring to. Shawn probably has it as he is the Macross kit king. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Do you have any pictures of it? Quote
jvmacross Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 No but pretty sure @Shawn does....Shawn? Quote
Shawn Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I have no idea what you are talking about...but HAVE to know more, please!! Can you provide any more information? I'm drawing a complete blank! Quote
jvmacross Posted September 28, 2020 Author Posted September 28, 2020 Maybe it was the one released instead of this? But I think it is just a plain white box with Japanese writing on it...thought you had it? Sort of like the black and white VF-1S kit that comes up from time to time...except that one has the boxart of the regular release, but in b/w....a promo I think Quote
Shawn Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Yeah-you are referring to the 1/5000 Sample SDF-1, but they said non-scale, which eliminates that option. also "IiRC, the box also had printed reference of the release of the movie."..which this one doesn't. Maybe a date range could be supplied for the auction in question? I've saved off quite a few old auctions, there is an infinitively small chance I might have it on an old hard drive. Quote
jvmacross Posted September 28, 2020 Author Posted September 28, 2020 IF anyone would have a pic it would be you! lol Quote

This would have been at least 8 months ago. I’m still kicking myself for not being able to acquire the promo kit. Quote
jvmacross Posted October 3, 2020 Author Posted October 3, 2020 Do you remember the scale or any other details? May help in doing a search for past auctions. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Pretty hazy. I do know it was a non-scale resin kit as there was no scale shown anywhere on the box. The sprites were thick as would be on any garage kit of it’s time. Also the box was white with black font. I am so kicking myself right now. Quote
jvmacross Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 https://aucfan.com/search1/q-SDF.2d1/s-mix/?shipping=all&o=p1&location=0 Maybe you can find it in the link above from the aucfan site.....DB on past YJA auctions....goes back quite a bit Quote
Shawn Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Still drawing a blank on this SDF-1 kit, which is quite frustrating. A resin kit of the SDF-1 from 1984? Movie promo...on YJA about 8 months ago, white box with black text. And you were the only bidder. I've gone back to dec2018 on both sdf-1 and dyrl queries...see nothing so far. No chance it was mis-filed in your memory as one of these? And it was YJA, not ebay or mercari? I still believe!!! Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Not at all. I could be off on timing and might be a year ago or so. I appreciate you looking for it. Let me just continue to kick myself. Quote
jvmacross Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 OK, so now you have 2 phantom SDF-1 kits to looks for Shawn! Quote

Shawn Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Do you remember how much you won it for? And just to confirm-it was in a baggie with a B&W label, not a box? Quote
jvmacross Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 May be worth going through the magazines of the era....although we often are surprised to find new things we did not know of.....an official "limited movie tie-in" kit would have been something that would have been promoted......if it actually exists I would be more surprised that Shawn was not aware of it... Shawn Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Do you recall what your general search term was? Did you search for sdf-1 or just generic macross? Any chance one of these rings a bell? https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/d192454823/ https://aucview.com/yahoo/r245217302/ https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/b227221570/ https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/w90673659/ https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/c381425665/ Quote
jvmacross Posted October 22, 2020 Author Posted October 22, 2020 Those sold auctions go back years on Aucview....maybe it wasn't a YJA listing? Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I was using Jauce. Even my history is limited as it does not show several items I have purchased in the past. I will have to search all 60 pages and slowly put through them. Originally that’s how I came across the listing. Thanks for trying. Quote
jvmacross Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 As long as you found it on a YJA listing you should be able to find it... Quote
Swann Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I found this for 1500 yen buyout price. I haven't received it yet. Quote
jvmacross Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 Nice find....is it a skylark collectible though? I always thought it was a DYRL film promotional item....part of a press kit.... I have it posted here.... https://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/46698-macross-dyrl-1984-film-promotional-materials/ Quote
Swann Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 From a presskit. I am sure. A long story. How I got it. Quote
Shawn Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 @Swann you sure are finding the rare Macross items! Not Skylark as @jvmacross confirmed, so moved into this seperate DYRL thread. What is the story on how you got it? I am curious. 1500 yen is a steal for that! I think last time it was something like 30000 yen. Quote
jvmacross Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 At 1500 JPY...there could only be one place... Quote
Swann Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 That's right boss Jvmacross. Here is some of the story. It was for sale there and the seller. Didn't want to sell it outside of Japan. Meaning Buyee could not even purchase it. I scrambled and scramble in a hurry. I was on the edge. I did a custom order at Rinkya, but I was still very green at it. I didn't want to wait. So I ask my friend over in Japan. To buy it. I waited forty and it sold. I was smacked and very depress over my loss. Seventeen hours later. I got a notification from rinkya. "please pay for your item". I was so lucky. Quote
