jvmacross Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 (edited) The Miss Macross Doll Collection by Ohsato Toys I am not sure how many other Ohsato Macross collectors are out there in the world...but it can't be that many. Ohsato Macross collectibles are some of the cheapest stuff (both in price and quality) ever produced during the SDFM era. They are mainly the kind of stuff a parent would have bought their kid to try and make them forget about that 1/55 Takatoku VF-1S that they were never going to get! To me their oddball nature and wild packaging makes them some of my favorite pieces in all my Macross collection. While I may never know if I have managed to collect "everything" Ohsato prolifically released using their Macross license....I did know I had a huge hole in my Ohsato Macross collection. Sure...I have the Ban-Ban shooting game.... Gliders of all kinds.... Pool toys..... ...and a vast array of rubber figurines that will never ever be released from their original packagings... But what I was really missing from my Ohsato Macross Collection were the Mothers of all Ohsato Macross collectibles........the Miss Macross Lynn Minmay Doll Collection! Finally....My Fair Minmays have arrived! These ladies are so classy and above the usual fodder released by Ohsato's other Macross offerings, that they even opted to skip out on sullying the packaging with their company logo or from utilizing their usual "As Seen On TV" selling tactics....perhaps Ohsato feared a potential customer might have believed it was just more Ohsato junk! Mind you, these were not some fancy collectible-type dolls, but compared to the rest of Ohsato's Macross products, these were really nice...not their usual point-of-sale denizens! Accessories are sparse, mostly just a microphone and a "bouquet"....but they did toss in a sheet of "animation collection seals" that were also available separately from Ohsato....maybe the included seals were tossed in so the little girls could give them to their brothers? One other thing to point out reagrding these Ohsato Minmay Dolls is that of all the Macross toys produced during the SDFM era...this is probably the only one that was targeted for girls (is that PC to point out these days? ) Although I have had the opportunity to purchase these from time to time over my years of collecting Macross, for some reason I could never pull the trigger on them. They are by no means ultra rare, but they are a bit hard to track down, especially when trying to acquire a complete set. The last few I have seen listed have sold for more than I was willing to spend on any one of them....I guess the opportunity to get the entire set in one purchase finally sealed the deal for me. Anyway....here are some additional pics...plus a pic of the Ohsato promotional poster for this collection...and a vintage ad that features an unproduced "Chinese Dress" Minmay and a Misa!
