The utility company is turning off power to prevent fires. Also there's been a 76,000 acre fire on my front door (it felt like) and my area has been in a mandatory evac zone until today.. Quote
mickyg Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) Yep, been getting reports from friends back in the Santa Rosa area for the last few days. You guys all stay safe! Bolt, that looks awesome, by the way. Edited October 31, 2019 by mickyg Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Sorry to hear about the drama Bolt. But I think you'll be okay WRT the deadline. I have put a poll up with some proposed deadline extensions but also the option to not extend it. Unless there are some cruel folks out there only in it for themselves I think we will be able to give you more time. Good luck and stay safe. Brett Quote
Bolt Posted October 31, 2019 Author Posted October 31, 2019 Thanks guys Still no power today.. it's getting old. Anyway, isn't the deadline for the comp TODAY? I'm going to finish this project either way and will post progress. Once i have power... Quote

Bolt Posted December 3, 2019 Author Posted December 3, 2019 (edited) Here's my nearly completed entry. Bugger the rain! My airbrush set up is outdoors right now, so i haven't been able to matt finish and apply water slides. So close! Could use some more detail and finish work, but it can also be like icing a cake, lol. So here it is. Apologies for my lack of lighting and photography skills. I will be posting more pics of this and past work on , as well as my finishing touches. This is my first resin kit and it's been very satisfying so far. Cheers Edited December 4, 2019 by Bolt Quote
arbit Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Hi Bolt. Well that was a surprising scheme. Seems like a heck of a lot to take on as your first resin kit. I've only done simple ones so far. Lots of nice details and looking good so far. Quote
Bolt Posted December 3, 2019 Author Posted December 3, 2019 Thanks @arbit Ya, it's a bit ambitious lol. I like the shard camo look . I will do a Hasegawa super strike VF in the same scheme, eventually, as i like custom squadrons. Quote
tekering Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I've really been looking forward to this one, dude. Please keep posting pics! Looks like the missile hatches, the Strike cannons, and the head is articulated, eh? Quote
Bolt Posted December 4, 2019 Author Posted December 4, 2019 Thanks man! Yes those are all articulated points. My only gripe with this beautiful kit is the oversized shoulders have an extruded rectangular-ish piece that fits into the side body and reduces the normal Hasegawa range of movements for the arms. The piece fills gaps nicely and looks good, but i would rather have more range of motion. Guess i could modify it, but I'm gonna focus on total completion first. Also note the custom thruster nozzle i added to the side shoulders Quote
Bolt Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Been applying decals. I have water slides from a few different sources. The kit also came with these, which are baffling me.. these appear to be printed onto a thick clear plastic sheet with a protective sheet stapled onto it. The printing isn't on a film that slides off the thick plastic sheet. Rather they appear to be printed directly on the sheet..They aren't acting like typical water slides. Anyone have any idea what these are and how i work them? There's no indication anywhere on the directions.. Quote
Sanity is Optional Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I think those are dry transfers, you tape the transfer sheet down at one end where the marking will be in position, and then rub it and the marking transfers to the model. Flip it up on the tape, and if you missed any bits fold it back down and transfer those. Quote
Bolt Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 I'll give it a try . Thanks @Sanity is Optional Quote
Bolt Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Just saw this kit on Amazon JP..woa! Quote
DewPoint Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Wow! That's either become extremely rare and desirable or someone is just asking a lot for it! Quote

I think you'll find Amazon.jp can be very much like eBay, in that third-party sellers can and will charge whatever outrageous prices they want to. Quote
Rock Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 There is actually not that uncommon to see the NeoGrade kit pop up on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Presently only the Yellow-Sub version is running though. I just with Shopping Mall Japan wasn't closing or I'd snag it. Quote
Bolt Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 I think i paid like two hundred and change for mine. If this kit was even a $100 more, I'd buy another . But I don't see these much and there is a limit to the madness.. Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Nice result Bolt! Tha will go nicely on the shelf But how did you get on with the dry transfers? -Brett Quote
Bolt Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 Hey Brett! I don't know how i missed this. We were up till 2:30 am playing magic that night. Lol many of the dry rub transfers were difficult and flaked off, some came out ok. Maybe it was just me Here's some of the dry transfers ( small white print) and water slides added too. Cheers Quote
Bolt Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Here's a few more pics with water slides and dry rubs. I've been using Tamiya Mark Fit. I like this product a lot. But i think some of these water slides are quite old. There out of a binder of various @Anasazi37water slides i bought off a fellow MW'er several years ago. They were around for a while before that, I believe. Maybe age isn't a factor, but i found some of the edges lifting or curling a bit, even with the Mark Fit. The newer Hasegawa water slides were a breeze. Anyhow , I'm sure my lack of expertise is also a factor ... note the AKB is airbrush stenciled , touched up by hand. I'm not finished with the decals or final paint details and final clear coat.. Edited January 3, 2020 by Bolt Quote
