Agent ONE Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Ali Samma's avatar: Just curious what the mods and for that matter the rest of the MW thought. I think it is tacky, and should not be allowed.
ewilen Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Since you're asking me what I think...yes, it's kinda tacky...I'm not personally offended but it probably pushes the envelope slightly relative to various other avatars... On the other hand, there are a few I can think of that would be just as tacky if they were cropped to focus on specific parts. Just to be clear, I have no problem at all with Ali Sama himself.
Mechamaniac Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Well, no offense meant, but I'd rather see them, than your little shrine to yourself, including the shirtless thing, I mean, damn, is this a boy band forum
EXO Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 (edited) it's a fad... I was hoping to find some chicken wings in here.... Edited January 18, 2004 by >EXO<
Anubis Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 (edited) Why not? There have been a lot of cleavage avatars lately. His just happens to be a live action version. There's another one or two out there like that too. Lots of us have used skimpier avatars. Nothing explicitly nude though. There have been a couple of porn actress ones that have pushed the barrier slightly but that's it. The current jiggly avatars are probably just a fad. I don't mind them at all, actually a little funny. Could be far worse things to have to look at. Edited January 18, 2004 by Anubis
lebhead Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 as the creator of the lebatars, i decline comment.
TheLoneWolf Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Like mechamaniac said: If bare male breasts are ok, then I see nothing wrong with women's.
Agent ONE Posted January 18, 2004 Author Posted January 18, 2004 Well, no offense meant, but I'd rather see them, than your little shrine to yourself, including the shirtless thing, I mean, damn, is this a boy band forum Actually Roy, Max, and I ARE going to start a boy band. And... I ME!
Agent ONE Posted January 18, 2004 Author Posted January 18, 2004 ...There have been a lot of cleavage avatars lately. His just happens to be a live action version. There's another one or two out there like that too. ... Good point.
Vostok 7 Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 There have been a couple of porn actress ones that have pushied it a little but that's it. When? I don't remember any that really "pushed it". Vostok 7
Anubis Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 There have been a couple of porn actress ones that have pushied it a little but that's it. When? I don't remember any that really "pushed it". Vostok 7 I don't really mean push it. Just actually unclothed, strategically covered. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all. Like to know who those girls are actually......
myk Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Let me see if I understand this....someone is actually complaining about Ali Sama's avatar?
Duke Togo Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Well, no offense meant, but I'd rather see them, than your little shrine to yourself, including the shirtless thing, I mean, damn, is this a boy band forum  Actually Roy, Max, and I ARE going to start a boy band. And... I ME! I'll outsell you all, you bastards! Make way for THE DUKE!
Duke Togo Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I'm really an assman, myself, but, the avatar is kinda tacky. Might be different it it were say, anime related or something similar, but just having a chick's tits bouncing is kinda lame.
Mechamaniac Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I'm really an assman, myself, That's right Jerry, he's Kosmo Kramer.....the assman!
JsARCLIGHT Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 (edited) If Ali Sama's gets booted then everyone who has something similair should have theirs booted too. Why single out one person who has a questionable avatar? When you start calling people's "questionable" avatars not right then at what point can we can interpret the rules to include other things that a handfull of people might find offensive like quasi-country or quasi-politico/religious avatars? What if there is some cranked up ricer out there that finds my camaro avatar offensive and demands it be taken down? And I have heard rumblings that N.O.W. is planning a commando op to remove the Agent's av by force... I say as long as there is no overt nudity or sexual acts then nothing has been done wrong. The avatar is merely "suggestive". You see things like that on the steets and in nightclubs all the time. I would rate that avatar PG-13 at the worst. If it goes then everyone who has one even remotely similar must have their taken down as well in all "fairness". Edit: MW rules state this: Section III: Never Allowed ... #2. No vulgar text or pictures. Vulgar language and images will be edited or deleted. A moderator will consider what is vulgar. ... By my judgement Max sort of gave the unheard nod to Bobe-pat's new jiggly avatar so could that be seen as some form of state-sanctioned approval for this trend? I'm not trying to be a crap disturber here but when you have one arm of the "governing body" quasi-approving this sort of thing and possibly the other side not then we need some better and clear definitions of what is allowed and what is not in the rules. (I'm not trying to drag other people into this argument, just state what I see as the "facts") ... now why do I feel I should change my sig to "MacrossWorld's ACLU Compliance Supervisor" Edited January 18, 2004 by JsARCLIGHT
Duke Togo Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Their rules, their call. MacrossWorld is not a democracy, and the only rights we have here are what the admins and moderators give us. Agent brought something up that he thought might be questionable in the proper forum to do so.
Dangard Ace Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 One may be funny. Something that you can roll-eyes at and laugh off. A whole horde of avatars that are solely devoted to that part of the female anatomy is in bad taste and NOT the message that this board wants to send. We also do NOT want this to escalate into another "Lebatar Wars" or "Fangirl drawings with full frontal -N" where some try to outdo others by pushing the limits. <_>Plus I am aware of the other jiggly Avatars that aren't mentioned in this thread.
Anubis Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Damn, I missed the lebatar wars. That must have been funny for a little while.
Mechamaniac Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Damn, I missed the lebatar wars. That must have been funny for a little while. No, it wasn't. Those were dark days my friend, dark days. You never knew what was coming next:
bsu legato Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Whose breasts are those anyhow? I've seen that avatar on several different message boards and it's been driving me nuts.
Roy Focker Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 First off I got a cold and I'm not the mood. There's a problem with this. I already removed this avatar in the past. When it first appeared a month or two ago I think. I believe I gave a warning (in the topic that we first noticed it in), I said that the avatar is really pushing it and if I get a complaint I'm taking it down. I got a complaint and I removed it. Speaking off being booted.... Section III: Never Allowed #2. No vulgar text or pictures. Vulgar language and images will be edited or deleted. A moderator will consider what is vulgar. That avatar was on the border. I gave the critera of what would have to happen for that specific avatar to be considered vulgar and it was met. Now a month or so later he's ingoring what I said I would have to do. This case is different from others with questionable avatars for we had to remove it before. I'm revoking his posting rights for the short term and us mod will discuss when and if they are going to be returned. This is how I determine what is vulgar. With expection of the truly vulgar stuff I look to see if I think it if it is in the gray area of the board standards. I think it's really pushing the standards a complaint or two is what I typically use to stop it. I try not to use just my opinion alone if it is something might be on the border. I realise what my avatar is and those of some others. These are arent animated and real. Edit: I removed a few avatars and sent the members a message about it.
