Season 1 and 3 of Netflix DD are awesome.

Season 2 does have Punisher and Elektra (there’s one brutal ass-whopping scene with Frank that’s must see), but it also has too much mystical Hand ninja drek.

A good rule of thumb:  if Matt’s rocking the black bandana, it’s gonna be good.

Punisher Season 1 was good.  Had some good supporting characters, made some fair comments about PTSD, and had a solid story.  Never did finish Season 2 though.

This show isn't working for me. Debating whether to stop now or finish out the season.

Episode 5 was a filler episode. It could have also been cut up and rolled in with the earlier episodes. Episode 6 should have been Episode 5. I can understand why they released both episodes this week but Episode 5 should have been cut.

So DD:BA Ep 8,

Spoiler

you think Matt knew what he was doing smashing Poindexter’s face in?  That he knew the dude would somehow figure out a way to bust out of jail?

I'm confused by that. I know he has a real good aim but that object and the method of launching it wouldn't have enough force to cause such an injury.

Don't overthink superhero stuff.  The water that quicksilver runs into multiple times (or the bullets he deflects) while going at full speed should have killed him.  Or how many times Superman lifts up an object and said object does not split into pieces (like a boat or an airplane), or...

That’s half the fun of superhero stuff though. Like when you think of every time a speedster runs all the way around the world, but to them it would be like taking the longest most mind numbing jog. Just imagine how tiring that would have been and then you wonder how they remember why they did that in the first place.

Murdock’s “army” better include:

* A former binge-drinking detective;

* A bullet-proof guy who was running Harlem last we saw of him;

* An heir to a large corporation that knows some martial arts;

* A woman who carries a sword and wields an iron fist;

* A detective that has a biomechanical arm;

* Assuming they can get the legal webs resolved, a certain friendly neighborhood super-hero with a secret identity that everyone has forgotten.

* And whoever the hell else resides in or around NYC.

If it’s just the characters they already introduced here, that would be rather. . . disappointing.

These “civilians” should be involved too.  But c’mon, swing for the fences.

Avoided all the spoilers for the new daredevil until we could finish a big rewatch of the Netflix Daredevil and punisher and just to make sure nothing was missed defenders. Before season three of daredevil. Took a bit, but did finally get through all that and watched all of the episodes of born again over the weekend.
gotta say I wasn’t impressed with the first few episodes, especially how badly handled the first episode was. The action was filmed extremely bad and the story felt like a jumble. We didn’t do a rewatch of Hawkeye or echo and I really couldn’t remember if either of those explained how Fisk avoided jail. Really didn’t want to rewatch echo, I just remember he was gonna run for mayor and had his brain turned to mush.

So I felt kinda lost even though we had just done a major rewatch of the important Netflix stuff that might lead up here. It seemed really weird that the wife was able to run all of Fisk’s criminal businesses even though she was just an arts dealer and they really didn’t do much to explain how Fisk actually avoided prison until a quick one minute or less conversation at almost the end of the season.

I do have to say that the action for the most part improved after that terrible fight with Bullseye. I do think they should not have used so much Snyder style slow motion though, especially with the punisher scenes.

I think the biggest problem though is that the show just kinda felt like a redo of season three rather than a continuation. Fisk has everyone outmaneuver with law enforcement and government on his side and Daredevil has lost his focus.

the whole thing of Fisk taking over by becoming Mayor still feels really far fetched and the fact that the citizens are ok with this police task force that doesn’t use body cams was also a bit tough to swallow. And the city lost its 💩over losing power for a few hours was way over the top.

All complaining aside, I am glad the show is back and it probably is more entertaining to watch than most of the Disney plus marvel shows or D+ shows overall recently. Hopefully now the next season will be a bit more focused

Given what they were originally going to do

Spoiler

(killing Foggy offscreen)

, I thought the first Bullseye fight scene absolutely served its purpose.

Overall, it seemed like they were running parallel stories of Murdock and Fisk trying to tamp down their darker tendencies.

It’s interesting that Fisk really didn’t break his Netflix Season 3 promise.  I also liked that you couldn’t really say he was being a pure EVIL villain with most of his actions for most of the season.

I am curious to see how next season pans out.  But I have two concerns:

Spoiler

1. Disappointed that all that character complexity was thrown out when it was revealed that Fisk just wanted the city to finance his free port/duty-free port fix-up.  Makes him a less interesting character, and I hope someone calls him out on this.

2.  As excited as I am for other heroes jumping into the fray, I hope it’s not just glorified cameos left and right.  I want there to be proper motivations for why each hero joins up.

For example, since he was pretty much the boss running Harlem, Luke Cage shouldn’t exactly be enthusiastic to join.  Give him a slow-burn reason to decide to eventually oppose Fisk.

It served a purpose, but it sure looked terrible compared to a lot of the fights from the Netflix days.
