I just watched the first episode of that new Spidey cartoon. It’s kinda mostly forgettable. The animation looks a lot worse in a full episode than in just a preview. It kinda looks like a cheap late 90’s motion capture comic with slightly more movement. Not really a full animation looks, but kinda partially animated. Just a bit sub par, especially after X-Men 97, and that was really just upgrading the old animation a little. But this new show is definitely lacking a better quality.

The story so far is just basic and I’ll admit that it is just an introductory episode, but it just doesn’t have an animated flair to make things exciting. I don’t know if I’ll watch another episode, it just doesn’t really feel worth the time.

I really just wish they did for Spider-Man what they did for X-Men in the 97 series, but I guess they couldn’t afford to do higher quality animation on their most popular hero.

It's ok....more disposable entertainment....

In terms of the look....maybe it takes place in that comic book earth shown in the last Dr. Strange movie....

The story could be cool eventually, but I just don’t like that barely animated cg look. I personally never got into the Star Wars Clone wars because I didn’t like the art style. If an animated show doesn’t look good, it’s really hard for me to watch it.

The comicbook style doesn't bother me at all....with that said, I totally get your point, for me, no matter how good the animation is, if the english voice actors are terrible, I can't watch...which basically tosses out most dubbed anime for me....and I don't partucularly enjoy subbed tv or movies....

To me it doesn’t even look like a comic book. Just kinda looks like those cheap motion comic things that were oddly popular on the early days of the internet

It's not great but that's definitely the "look" they are going for...like the early style Spiderman comic books...with a modern edge that will probably get some people all worked up if the stories are boring....

...as far as the style they went with...whether it works or not is debatable....

It doesn't bother me at all, so I'll keep watching....

Actual polemic about the cartoon

Pode ser uma imagem de texto que diz "KNOW THE WORK RULES I'm a gender- swapped Spider-Man villain! APPROPRIATE AWWW,YC AWWW,YOU'RE YOU'RE SWEET. I'm a gender- swapped Spider-Man -Man villain. INAPPROPRIATE HELLO, HUMAN RESOURCES?!"

They did a lot of changes to the characters in this version, but I still say the biggest problem is the non animation. There’s ways to do limited animation and make it look great, but the artwork has to look good to start with and the art here is basic at best. The Maxx is a great example of limited animation working wonders, but that’s mainly because the artwork looked great and kinda tricks you into thinking there’s more going on than there actually is. This show just has a bland look devoid of detail and when things aren’t moving, it feels like nothing is happening on screen, even during the action scenes

Yes, exactly that. Many people who are criticizing the animation focus more on the changes of some characters, or the supposed "woke propaganda" that the series is doing. But ignoring the fact that it is an alternative reality, that is, changes occur from universe to universe. I see that the series has problems, such as its lack of animation, which makes it tiring for much of the time, and the lack of a (ok, a little rushed now, considering we only have 2 episodes) focus on its main plot. But other than that, it's watchable for now.

Yeah, the other stuff definitely isn’t what bugs me, just the animation. There may be a good story in the upcoming episodes and the character changes don’t seem as out of place as they did in the recent Batman cartoon on prime. I still think that Penguin change was way out of place.

I need a live-ation Gwen Stacy series!

Maybe there will be one on amazon if that Nicholas Cage series ends up something.

personally, I’ve never really liked the spider Gwen character. It always felt very what ify and then name was kinda dumb. It would be like if Bat Bruce or Iron Tony were actual super hero names.

But Bat Bruce and Iron Tony sound lame! /s

Unfortunately, so does spider Gwen. It would be really hard to keep a secret identity when your own name is part of your hero name. Clark Man or Spider Peter or The Winter Bucky or Aquaman( I couldn’t even remember his actual name and he’s already a lame character) or Green Oliver( could’ve been Queen Arrow, but that would be just confusing) are all pretty bad.

I did not read much of the comic, but is she called Spider Gwen, or is that just the title?

I don’t really know, I stopped reading marvel after all the talent quit in the early 90’s, it just seems to be what she’s always referred to as in toys and cartoons. I would think that if she went by a different name, her action figures would say that, but they’re either spider Gwen or Gwen Pool, which is equally as stupid

Seems to have been Ghost Spider. I’ve never seen a toy or show reference to that though

Dammit, that Daredevil:  Born Again intro scene was too damn intense! :cray:

Spoiler

Eff you, Bullseye!

Edit:  Okay, just finished the first two eps.  Obviously, running two parallel stories with Fisk and Murdock dealing/trying to reconcile their pasts and trying to move forward.

Kinda hoping we see Karen again.

But so far, so good.  Let’s hope the rest of the show pans out.

I liked the first two episodes for sure, the tone seems right, the CG fight scenes are a bit rough. Mixing CG with the practical fights sounds good in theory, but they really didn't blend very well and it looked pretty rough, that said, having those scenes in bad lighting and in the dark is definitely the way to go. I'm just hoping..

Spoiler

After making such a big deal about Foggy and Karen back Karen isn't already out, Foggy, obviously is, RIP, but Karen needs to have a more prominent part. I'm hoping they didn't bring those two back just to shuffle them off in episode 1, that's a bit of a bait and switch IMO.

We'll see, solid start, definitely looking forward to more.

Concerning Karen Page and Foggy Nelson

Spoiler

Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will be returning for Season 2. What role they will be playing (it could be flashbacks) has not been stated.

Did I check the Internets about the number of episodes a certain actor will appear for Season 1?

Yes.

Spoiler

Deborah Ann Wohl is supposed to appear in 2 more eps for Season 1.

DBA doesn't feel like a Marvel show. At least not how they were a few years ago when I quit Marvel cold turkey. So, that's a positive. But I'm not sure it's working for me after two episodes.

DBA Ep 3 ended rather depressingly.

Ep 4 is one of those good connective tissue eps.  Nothing too crazy action-wise happens.  But a lot of good character moments.

As strange as it sounds, I’d rather not have another Fisk and Murdock throw-down . . . yet.

It’s interesting to see the two struggle with their darker selves.  I’m curious to see if they can find a balance between the two, some sort of growth, if you will.

I think Ep 4's underlying message is "you cannot deny your true self".

Spoiler

As much as Murdock and Fisk try to be their better halves, at the end of the episode, their true darker selves are still there. Deny it, suppress it, ignore it, but Kingpin and Daredevil are still there.

There's a story-element there:

Daredevil: Born Again Stars Reveal Why They Share So Little Screen Time [Slashfilm]

Quote

According to Cox:

"...I think that you're right insofar as — you have to think of these characters as when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. When they collide, it is explosive. And we have to maintain those stakes. So if you bring them together too often where nothing happens, other than just a conversation, then you start to lose those stakes that we talked about."

Absolutely loved this episode!

Spoiler

Bernthal killed it, he's clearly coming back in another episode, but damn does he still play a near perfect Punisher! And I'm glad to see Marvel covering this particular Punisher storyline, I think it's pretty relevant for these modern times, and I'm glad to see it getting tackled a bit this season. Frank's speech to Matt was incredibly well done, these actors nailed that scene, so much anger, emotion, Matt's turmoil, you know Frank knows what he wants, to put that suit back on and get out there, it can't be denied just like Fisk's darkness, never truly left behind, it's just a part of who they are.

Brutal stuff, loved it, definitely excited to see next week's episode.

I was never able to get into either Daredevil or The Punisher....or any of the other Netflix shows....but really enjoying the new D+ Daredevil show....

It doesn't seem like I am missing out by not having watched the previous shows, but if I wanted to try again, what would be a better watch....The Punisher or Daredevil?

Both are good. I skipped over Punisher but heard it was a good watch. 'Sat through the whole Daredevil run. It was the best of the Netflix-Marvel shows. And you don't need to watch the shows to watch D:BA.

I would think Daredevil, since the second season has the Punisher’s big intro. But to be honest I loved both shows a lot. If you have the time, maybe do Daredevil, then Punisher . But if you have to choose maybe a better question is if you like punchy heroes or shooty heroes

Definitely DD first, as stated above Punisher's intro is DD season 2. Wrap up DD then enjoy Punisher, both seasons were fantastic!
