sbarrett4 Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 After suffering a nasty laceration while replacing a scalpel blade at work, I managed to finish up my low vis custom. Decals from Devin of course. Armor is next whenever I have the time. Quote
Wicked Ace Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Cool. How long did the project take? If I can get a digital camera, I'll post pics, in the customization forum, of the Jetfire I did. Quote
sbarrett4 Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 Cool. How long did the project take? If I can get a digital camera, I'll post pics, in the customization forum, of the Jetfire I did. about three weeks of on and off work. I have no idea of the actual hours spent on it as I would bounce back and forth with other projects while that was drying, setting, etc. Quote
Aegis! Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Looking at your awesome custom 1/55 I realised that the Chunky Monkeys were really made in CAD but at the time tey only could design them with very few poligons cause of its block-like nature Quote
Graham Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Nice, but why did you chop off the front of the gunpod? Graham Quote
sbarrett4 Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 (edited) Nice, but why did you chop off the front of the gunpod?Graham Thanks for all the compliments guys. As for the gunpod, I didn't chop it, it was broken off. I have a tip to replace it with, just need to make a mold of it first, for any future gunpods in similar condition. muswp1 Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 I thought that gunpod looked weird, nice catch Graham. Quote

My Bandia 1A doesn't have the border around the "eye." Quote

Sebastian Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Very NICE! I only find the tail fins paint is a bit too shiny. Will you pannel line the Low Vis? Quote
Mechamaniac Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Nice custom! Looks about as good as a Chunky Monkey can look. Quote
sbarrett4 Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 Very NICE! I only find the tail fins paint is a bit too shiny. Will you pannel line the Low Vis? Thanks! The whole valk is coated w/ Krylon Satin finish, I think the shine comes from the camera flash. The blue is actually darker then what showed up, its closer to the blue of the decals. And no, I don't plan to panel line at this time. Quote
dr_vandermeer Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 great job! any plans on weathering effects? Quote
Anasazi37 Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Nice work as always, Shan! It's great that the 1/55s are getting love from customizers again. That reminds me, I need to finish up my 1/55 Hikaru 1J GBP custom I started about a year ago.... Hope your finger is on the mend. Quote
Toonz Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 that's very nice! how about a gerwalk mode? hmm....i have an extra super-1S.....maybe i should consider doing a lowviz 1S....hmmm... Quote
southpaw Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 where did you get the border for the head.. or how did you make it.. Quote
sbarrett4 Posted January 17, 2004 Author Posted January 17, 2004 where did you get the border for the head.. or how did you make it.. it is Evergreen Models styrene plastic. I know its used for model railroading and probably for other stuff as well. It somes in sheets. I used a 1.0 mm sheet. It can be cut with sharp scissors or an exacto knife. Costs about $3-4 per sheet. Quote
Uxi Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 Good work on the paint job! Wow, that's pretty chunky... Quote
flippant_remark Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 Heh, a sawn off gun-pod would be good for close-in work. "Urban-combat Valk" Now there's an idea for a custom. Quote
