Aurel Tristen Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Attention Macross II fans, Nanashi's Information Group is again the first to bring you something new. See: http://nanashi.macrossmecha.info/resrc/cat.../vari/vsxs.html The "VS-XS Valkyrie II" design was presented in an issue of Monthy Bandai Making Journal just prior to the release of Macross II: Lovers, Again. Your interest and support of the Nanashi's Information Group is appreciated. Quote
Sebastian Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 THANKS FOR THE INFO Nanashi! Small diferences from the final design, and in fact I prefer the Vf 2SS over this VS XS. Quote
Graham Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Hmm...the leg mounted air brake is interesting. I'd always assumed those hatches on the lower legs were for internal missile bays. Graham Quote
J A Dare Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 I can't remember, did the VF2SS also have the Patlabor-ish head too? I like it. Quote
Skull Leader Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Strange, beyond more panel-lining, I don't see much, if any, difference in the fighter modes of the proto and the final product.... Battroid mode has some interesting changes though.. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 (edited) Dang. 4 airbrakes that big, with that degree of extension---should be able to out-brake anything but a Harrier or a valk putting its legs forward. Edited August 27, 2003 by David Hingtgen Quote
Yohsho Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 That's alot of airbrakes, did it really need that many of them? Quote
CaptRico Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 I'm going to add this baby to my M2M: MACROSS II MECHAS site pretty soon! Thank you for the pics! Fans are going to sh*t their pants when they see this! This is going to be great! Thank you! Thank you!^^ Quote

Abombz!! Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Nice! The VF2 is always a damn nice looking fighter. Too bad it was featured in the monstruosity. <_ Quote
Yoshi Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Very very nice. We Macross fans need to show more love to the Non-Studio Nue stuff. :-) Quote
Abombz!! Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Very very nice. We Macross fans need to show more love to the Non-Studio Nue stuff. :-) Wasn't Studio Nue involved in M2 in some way? Quote

They were just credited out of respect (and out of copyright), like the old man Tomino is credited in the crappy Gundams he didn't work on. Quote

So they were just credited because they were the original creators of SDF Macross.... naru hodo! Quote
Unknown Target Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 MC2 was pretty bad. I always felt that it tried too hard to recaputer all the stuff from the original. But the mechas were sweet. I wish they could've been used somewhere else, as well. Quote
Valkyrie Nut Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 impressive design. makes me wonder why Kawamori didnt like it Quote
JELEINEN Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Does the head only have one laser or is the other one just pointed perfectly straight on? Quote

Thank you. Quote
Uxi Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 I like it. A good precursor model to the VF-2. Maybe could be MII's version of the "VF-0"? I still think the Metal Siren is better than both, though. Quote

I still think the Metal Siren is better than both, though. The Metal Siren may have better combat performance in the anime, but IMO, it is an ugly, ugly Valk that looks like it's been cobbled together out of mis-matching parts. The VF-2SS Valkyrie II and VF-2JA Icarus on the other hand are just so beautiful and sleek looking. Graham Quote

Dangard Ace Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I'll let you take up the copyright issue with Nanashi/Windjammer. Quote
Mechafan Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Nice, I like the Macross II mecha. The VF-2SS with SAP armor is even sweeter. Quote
JELEINEN Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 (edited) Â I'll let you take up the copyright issue with Nanashi/Windjammer. Yeah. That came across as being way more trollish than I entended and off topic. I've removed the post, so please just ignore what I said. Thanks. edit: spelling Edited August 28, 2003 by JELEINEN Quote

leeden Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I like how the front landing gear looks on the VF-XS, at least from that angle. The VF-2SS always looked awkward to me. Quote

Aurel Tristen Posted August 29, 2003 Author Posted August 29, 2003 Does the head only have one laser or is the other one just pointed perfectly straight on? I believe there is only one beam gun on the MOSU and another piece of equipment: maybe a sensor unit or maybe a vulcan shell mount. Quote
dna Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 It's very hard to determine that either way - even examining al the pictures closely, you can only see the same damn side each time! The side in question is insidiously hidden in all pics. Quote
