It is of the Chogokin line, so when I read the comments on it I wonder if there's an expectations mismatch. I don't expect a ton of paint, tampo, etc off a chogokin. I think it's perfect for how it's branded... I'm just happy it's here because I just cannot see a MB or MRS of this. Quote

In my mind the Soul of Chogokin line is the best of the best that Bandai Tamashii Nations has to offer. Granted I only own the SoC Gunbuster but it is mostly painted and looks great. The difference for me between Metal Build and Soul of Chogokin is that one is stylized and detailed (MB) while the other is screen accurate (SoC). So I would expect SoC Tryon 3 to be pretty screen accurate (which it is) but no extraneous markings (which it doesn’t have). But I would also expect to be fully painted. The problem is also that blue, red and yellow can easily look like plastic. They can be too translucent (red and yellow) swallowing fine details and easily show swirls and other imperfections especially when it has a glossy finish (blue). These colors are prevalent in the Tryon 3 which is why I would prefer a fully painted toy instead of bare plastic Of course I will reserve my final judgement until I have my copy in hand and as I said, the images from Hacchaka make it look quite alright. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the assignment, lol. All of the SoCs I own are high-quality and have more accessories than a Claire's store, but the surfaces are all simplistic to me - took a closer look at my SoC Gunbuster and aside from the few parts that have the pearl paint effect even he's pretty basic. When I look at my Metal Builds, Metal Robot Spirits, etc - they're slathered in details so much I'm afraid of handling the doggone things for fear of scratching, rubbing, whatever... My SoCs - not as much. I've always seen the MB's a notch above the SoCs in build quality and detail. Maybe I can't tell what's painted and what's not on my SoCs - blame my old eyes. I think it's awesome that you pay far more attention to the details and construction than I do... I'm just kid-happy with the Tryon-3. It hits all of my childhood tropes just right and it came as a surprise when Bandai announced they were even going to make the thing! Quote
grogall Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Well my first Gundam arrived today, the Chogokin MSN-04FF SAZABI. I wanted to open it but since it's a Christmas present from my girlfriend, I was told I can't open it till Christmas Eve.... She even gave me that evil look that say "Don't even think about it" So this and the RX-93ff ν GUNDAM which will come next week will be my first foray into Gundam's , but having to wait for Christmas to open both is torture, But I also got a Zoid RZ-041 Liger Zero plus armour accessory kit, so at least I have something to play with till then 🤭... Man Bandai Krack is expensive! 🥲 Quote

She got me a clear RG Gundam 00Quant with all clear parts and a MG RX-78-2 3.0 in black and neon green highlights, very striking! This scheme reminds me of it. Twich Quote

There was no available date yet when I posted it but when I checked back earlier, it looks like the PO started yesterday (22nd). However it will be sold via lottery at the P-Bandai site. One item per person. Starts from Nov 22 and ends in Dec 1, 2024. Winner will be announced in early Dec 2024. https://tamashiiweb.com/item/15214/ For more info, here's the link to the P-Bandai JP site: https://p-bandai.jp/item/item-1000219683/ Edit: Looks like Luna Park has it in their PO listing for Y41800 compared to P-Bandai's Y30800. Not sure how will they be able to secure it since it's a lottery. https://www.lunapark.store/product-page/gundam-fix-figuration-metal-composite-phantaci-rx-78-2-gundam-ver-j Edited November 23 by no3Ljm Quote
Test_Pilot_2 Posted November 24 Posted November 24 (edited) @Scyla So just got around to opening Tryon 3. It's a hodgepodge of painted and unpainted. When I unsealed it, there was that really strong sweetish smell of airbrush paints. The plastic yellow parts don't look translucent to me, same with the red, but there are areas/parts where the budget was cut for the legs. The legs/falcon section is a brick house. Followed by the ray and then the lion is well. Yeah, kinda jank. Even with some shortcomings it's absolutely terrific and just over the top in all the best ways! Edit: Just finished combining it. It's transformation and combining is an absolute delight. Well done, Bandai! Edited November 24 by Test_Pilot_2 Quote

One of luna parks scam tactics is listing it for pre order and then cancelling the orders if they are unable to secure the necessary amount. They have F'd over people in the past here with that. Im guessing decals are the only thing to be changed between the more recent offerings on the actual Astray figures themselves (not including accessories) Quote
doomgart Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Hello everyone! I've been collecting Bandai (mainly Metal Build and Dx Chogokin) products for a long time, but the attitude towards customers bothers me, so I'll just leave this here for comparison (I asked about the possibility of ordering spare parts for my F91): And this is an example of a different approach that I received today along with a spare part for the product. After this, I don’t even want to order new metal builds. Quote

Every now and then they come out with a bad one but as a majority their figures are well built. Though Kampfer really did exceed my expectations, Bandai's business practices with OOQ FS and even Strike Noir really leave a bad taste in my mouth. Bandai seemed to try to claim that the backpack wouldn't be compatible, but a reviewer recently tried the FS backpack on the original QanT and it fit no problem. Really crappy move by them to not include the backpack in the FS accessory pack, even if the paint might not match 100%. I haven't opened my OOQ FS but this does frustrate me. Moshow doesn't really make figures I'm too interested in as I don't have attachment to their original IP (I sold most of my Progenitor Effect figures), but they had excellent quality. I'd say their QC and consistency is at the top of the Chinese super robot companies like CCS and Heatboys. CCS has wonderful presence but their latest releases have had really bad tolerances for some of the accessories or attachments, and their ankle joints can sometimes be weak as well. I liked their Mazinger Zero but the LED was useless since the touch sensor drained batteries within a week, the original Shin Getter had tons of QC issues, their new Shin Getter has inconsistent QC, etc. I still like them a lot but I agree Moshow has been the most consistent for me, except perhaps for Blitzway. bearpig91 Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Dang... Am I the only Bandai fan 😞? I love the 00 QanT FS. The recolor is amazing, no issues with joint tightness with mine so far and the only thing that pops off is the right forearm armor. It's otherwise a very solid figure with no paint blotches or misplaced decals. The amount of diecast in the frame is decent as well, although it's lighter than the newer MBs... but I'm not sure if that's to do with the amount of plastic/design though. Anyway, I ordered the FS addon set and I have my fingers crossed for new 00 suits! Probably won't happen (anytime soon at least)... But MB Haute or Kyrios would be epic. I'd pay $1000 easily hahaha.
