how much was the shield?

Hey David. It's US$23.99 now. Free shipping to the US.

https://gundamit.com/hm-model-lightning-shield-for-rx-93-2-hi-gundam_p3372.html

I paid 22.99 last year during the initial preorder. Almost a year when it got released. I thought it's not going to get produced after it got Sold Out last year. I was just surprised to find a notification from Gundamit in my email. :good:

Its white color is close to the white on the feet and on the funnel wing holder. I didn't have the original so I was actually hoping that it will use the same white tone from the original shield.

This is difficult to judge, for example with my light the white colour looks almost the same with the original shied and the shield from the launcher set.

Probably the shield from the launcher set is a bit more matt than the original shield like it is in this replica.

If you have both originals and this KO one to compare the whites, and it's matching based on your description, then I think it's good. I know most of the figure body are different tones of grey. But the feet area and the fin holder is same white to the shield. It's the reason why for me it's throwing my eyes off and I see the shield too white next to the figure. Hope that does makes sense to my remark regarding how white the KO shield is.

I took some photos of it again outside my toy cabinet. Not sure if photos would show it properly. But seeing it again on a different light, I can say that the KO Shield color is somehow creamier than the original shield. Creamier in a sense that it has more yellow tint on it compared to the whites of the original shield and the figure. I know it's not showing properly with the legs of the figure but in the photos of the shields together, you can see the subtle difference.

I was too lazy to take quality photos but here is Bandai (left) vs KO (right).

I have all 3 shields and they all have slightly different shades. The KO being the most off white then the option parts shield then the polka dot shield. Bandais shades off white are a lot closer to matching though.

Thanks for posting. :good:

It helped confirming what I'm seeing on mine since I don't have the Shield from the Launcher set. The KO one (right) in my eye does have more yellow tint than the original.

That 40,000 yen price is rough but Zeta looks worth it. I wonder how much the price would be if it didn't transform. I might put it into waverider mode once but its going to be displayed in mobile suit mode. I can't see switching it back a lot given the price and delicate parts with paint. Just hoping there are sturdy locking points unlike the MRD zetas.

Oooff. Y40000. :vava:

At my age right now, these are the set of questions I'm asking myself -- Do I really need one? Do I really need it? How bad I wanted it? And if I do, will I play with it? Transform it from time to time while it's on display? Do I have the extra space for it? And do I tell my wife that I'm buying another Gundam that basically looks like the other Gundams that I have as she always say it?

These questions are so rough.

I mean, you could be doing worse things with your money... You know illegal things... or things that are really bad for your health.  I mean, at least she knows you're not out and about... you know... doing things, right?

She can't expect you to go out and pick up other girls by telling them about your elite gundam collection, right?

These items typically appreciate in value if properly cared for... so they're investments, right? That should be protected so, you know, there's always motivation for additional cases and storage?

It's the Zeta man... it's like... Gundam royalty. One must make room for royalty.*

Yeah, that's the way I look at it -- the Zeta is my favorite MS from my favorite series.  And I've never really found a good physical representation of it -- the metal robot spirits was too fragile, I had the MG 1.0 and 2.0 but I never felt that confident in posing either, I hear the RG is a hand grenade, the robot spirits figure strays too much into a stylized look, etc etc.

40,000 yen is a lot -- but maybe this is the Zeta that I've been waiting for?

Yeah. True. I don't do illegal stuff or anything that is bad to my health.

But this is another issue for me. I'm trying not to think of it now as an investment. Sure I can sell it down the line in case of emergency or my family will if something happened to me. But to me at this point, I don't think of it like that anymore. I just want to enjoy it. Even though they're just in the cabinet standing, squeezed together just to fit everything. And I already started throwing gorgeous looking boxes. I know. Also the wife doesn't want me paying extra for storages anymore so I just need to streamline it and just get and keep what I really want and need. :pardon:

But yeah, it's the Zeta. I have it in MRD form and for sure it will stay in robot form for the time being since Waverider takes too much space. And I think it sits very well with the rest of my MRDs. :good:

Now, if Bandai makes an MB Zeta Type 3A (As long that it's not too magenta for my taste like the MRD counterpart. Hence, I didn't pick up one.), now that's a different story. :spiteful:

The conversion rate of 40k yen is like $280-300 give or take. If this stays in a similar price range before P Bandai and others charge their misc fees it seems like a sound purchase. Over the last year I have noticed 2 things that need to be said right now

1) Every one has wanted a Zeta for a while and now its here , why are people getting cold feet?

2) I like how every one is complaining about the 40k yen price tag but some of you here did not hesitate to buy that MB Providence brick.

I say if you like the Zeta, then buy it. Regret it later

Has the Full Saber not been done before now in Metal Build? If it has, what's the deal with this one having that extra fourth dagger? Just another typical Metal Build flourish, or is it supposed to be an actual new variant?

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised that the Zeta price tag seems to be an issue. I see this as within the usual realm of MB pricing, it is slightly higher, but I would put that down due to Zeta having a transformation feature.

As for MB Providence being a brick... don't be fooled by the large backpack – it actually has some good articulation even with the backpack on and the expanding gimmick together with DRAGOONS is neat.

The 00 Qan[T] Full Saber is a first for Metal Build, you might be thinking of the MB 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G which is based on the 00 Raiser.

I think the Full Saber might have been in some side story manga or magazin, it never appeared on-screen. Essentially just think of it as a MSV treatment of the standard 00 Qan[T], sort of like Double Fin Funnel Nu Gundam.

Oh, I'm aware of what the Full Saber is, I just thought for sure it must have been done in MB form by now, what with how popular Setsuna's suits are and how many variations there are of the Exia and 00. The Qant basically only has the Full Saber as a variant... and maybe the alien tech one, I forget what that one's called. But I guess I was wrong.

In design art and all physical renditions of the Full Saber, the GN Sword IV Full Saber consists of

- the base piece that connects to the mounting arm and houses the main handle
- the katar piece that makes up the main blade of the FS and resembles the GN Katar of the 00 7S(/G)
- 3x daggers, two flanking the katar katar on either side of the base piece, and one on the underside of the FS next to the Quanta's right arm

This version has two daggers on the underside, in the same general area but offset on either side of center, whereas the original one was directly on the center line of the FS. It's a bit of a head-scratcher that they would bother with such a design revision. It doesn't look better. It doesn't look worse. As @mog_kupo demonstrates, it's hardly even noticeable. Perplexing.

Defend the brick how you will , its seems pretty limited compared to a lot of the other gundams and reviews I have seen. I was just using it as an example as to people shelled out the cash for it

Was trying to be helpful with some further insight and provide another viewpoint, but wow... talk about being dismissive to direct feedback from an actual owner!?

Instead of just deriding the MB Providence as a "brick" in one-liners, why don't you actually try and elaborate a bit more – why is it a brick, what are these limitations you keep referring to and compared to which other MB Gundam does it perform poorly?
