Ranka-Killer Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Hi everyone! Here is my customization of the vintage SDF-1 Macross, sold as Robotech toy in USA by Matchbox. Still unfinished, I am adding more detail at some places yet. Quote
505thAirborne Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Love it, fantastic job on restoring that old SDF-1. Quote
derex3592 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 That looks FANTASTIC!!! Great job!!! I've got mine from childhood in the closet but sadly one of the rotating arm joints dissentigrated so I don't think I can do anything with it. Quote

I don't know... in fact that album documenting his custom work was what inspired me to make my own (I discovered it just a few months ago) Edited July 26, 2018 by Ranka-Killer Quote
jenius Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I believe he was banished for selling recasts. Quote

nightmareB4macross Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 This looks great. I love the colors and panel lining you created. Quote
Nyankodevice Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 (edited) great job... the bridge looks abit like on my 1/1600 i love seing what others do when they make or modify the SDF-1 Edited October 15, 2018 by Nyankodevice Quote
Ranka-Killer Posted October 15, 2018 Author Posted October 15, 2018 Hey! Your work was one of my references for this custom because it is very close to the original Studio Nue TV design, unlike many other Macross TV version constructions that look loosely based on the TV design or even fusioned with DYRL design. Quote
Nyankodevice Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 well you did a great job... looking more closely i spot alot more of the same details Quote
Nyankodevice Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 maybe i should try to get my hands on a bandai/takatoku SDF-1 and make my own modifcations! Quote
Ranka-Killer Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 I think Bandai is a better option because of the many gimmicks removed, that gives you great landing surfaces on Daedalus and Prometheus, otherwise you will need to remove the springs and stuff and fill the holes. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 The Bandai is the better and much cheaper option. The only reason I used a Takatoku is because I still have the fighters and wanted to keep it as a customized toy similar to what Takatoku would do when promoting their macross toys. Quote
mojacko Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Looks gazillion times better than its predecessor! Quote
