Godzilla Posted January 20, 2004 Author Posted January 20, 2004 I can dig everybody's personal preferences regarding scale... but I think overall the point is moot. 1/48 enemy mecha would just cost too damn much for Yamato to make a profit.Still... you scale guys do realize that in the anime that these toys are based off of the scales are completely out of whack, too? Let a toy be a toy, is my motto. Let's just stop the madness before people on here start begging for a 1/48 SDF-1. 1/48 SDF-1? Sheesh. Where would I put it? Crap, I dont think anybody could afford it. Heh. Then again, ppl would beg for a 1/48 Monster... Anyways, you are right Blaine... let the toy be. I think the 1/60 Q-Rau would fit nicely against 1/48 VF. Quote
Uxi Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I don't think you're getting the point people are trying to make across repeatedly on these boards. Detail is not relative to scale. It's relative to the physical size of the toy. Yeah but there's hardly any piece of detail on the 1/48 that coudln't be added to a new version of the 1/60. Everything from radome to the catapult to the telescoping feet, to airbrake. There simply has to be some way to justify the enormous cost increase of the 1/48 beyond much more plastic (& far less diecast) and cardboard. Quote
EXO Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Adding those details to the 1/60 wouldn't make the 1/48 less expensive... it would just make the 1/60 more expensive. The 1/48's cost is well justified in Japan. But the argument was about whether or not a 1/48 scale enemy mech would be more detailed. At the scale it's at now it can probably acheive much more detail than Yamato is probably willing to give it without going to a larger scale. Now if Godzilla would just say he prefers to have everything in one scale, which is the 1/48... then there's no arguing that because we're just talking about his preference. Quote
