It's ok. I will use the store credit for their other items in store. After done, will never come back again after I ask them to delete my personal data.

Wait... the VF-1D comes with a fan racer?!  That's so cool.  I wish I could afford to collect the entire set of SDFM DX.  I'm gonna have to pass since I already have it in HMR, but still... very tempting with that add on.  Is there a 1/100 fan racer kit out there?  Or better yet, a 1/285 or so since I plan on using the miniatures to build an angel bird display behind my 1/3000 SDF-1.

Paypal cannot help with Pre-orders gone bad......I believe as far as PO's....they require the seller to list the date the item is expected.....however, the paypal buyer protection starts ticking the moment you make a payment....their policies regarding PO's is really not helpful to buyers.....when it comes to placing PO's it really is all about the reputation of the retailer.....

I did this with my TV supers, it's a great look. I pulled the trigger on the supers before getting a TV Roy, and eventually decided to just pass on the Roy in favor of waiting for a DYRL version.

I unexpectedly had an order that I thought the seller had long-ago backed out of arrive. So I have an extra TV Roy available for my straight-up cost of $309 shipped DHL (to anywhere in the US, but other countries should be about the same) or $279 by slow boat (takes 2 months). If you are interested, PM me!

There is somewhere in Paypal's terms that states a seller must only charge for items they can deliver within a certain amount of time. If a seller does not deliver in that specified time, they are breaking the Paypal terms and in that case, Paypal has failed the consumer by not upholding their terms and can be held responsible for your loss. They will only pay you if you bring up this term and it would help if you find that section. This is info from a while ago so it is possible that they have removed that part but I remember it was very difficult to find in the first place.

Yeah, I saw that, but then Paypal turns around and plays both sides by stating that if a seller does sell a "pre-sale" item, that the listing must reflect an anticipated delivery date, which the buyer can easily see....https://www.paypal.com/us/brc/article/presale-policy-and-reserves

Why even add that caveat if their own policy says "pre-sale" items are not covered?  In effect, they have simply covered themselves on both sides of the transaction, regardless if the transaction ultimately sours.  They are turning a blind eye to the fact that sellers are not meeting this obligation of listing only what they can realistically deliver within Paypal's own 180 day coverage limitation to take in the commissions from the sales and screwing the buyer in the process by saying "pre-sale" items are not covered at all.

Like I said, in the case of PO's, your best bet is to stick with sellers that have the highest reputation in terms of consistently delivering on PO merch.  This is probably why some places will not even deal with POs...like AmiAmi and HLJ (most of the time).  Others do so in a limited capacity as a "service" to their customers, but also do not over-commit, in case Bandai ends up not meeting the orders for some reason, forcing retailers to issue refunds.  Ultimately, it really is up to the consumer to educate themselves on the services they are using.  Ignorance of the rules of which you are agreeing to abide with when using Paypal can be a costly mistake.....for either side of the transaction.

I haven't seen the pre-sale items are not covered part. Either way, I always use a credit card one way or another. But Yeah, I agree it's up to consumers to also be educated and I still consider any shop in Japan willing to sell Macross outside of Japan as going above and beyond the services that they need to provide us.

yep....Paypal posted "how to" instructions regarding "pre-sale" items....yet their very own "acceptable use" policy implies you cannot use their services to collect payment on items that you do not actually have "control or possession" of at the time of the sale. :wacko:

This just happened to me too. Was just telling my proxy that I am fairly sure I got scammed on this auction and suddenly there it is. I had already bought a replacement so now there's a spare coming that will be for sale when it arrives.

I've been on a hiatus from this thread. Has anyone not received their TV super parts from Nin Nin yet? Mine is apparently still in progress.

I've sent in a ticket with no reply for about two weeks now. Shame.

Just my two cents on the whole pre-order/PayPal protection thing.

PayPal have their policies to cover themselves as well as others. End of the day, all businesses are in it to make money/pay bills. They have their claim window to minimise their risks, which I assume has been underwritten by some form of insurance, which costs them money. Maybe going past the 180day protection significantly increases their insurance costs?

Their policy is 180days... They can do a few things:

1. Turn a blind eye like they are now and let the majority of preorders go through with the minority of orders going sour.

2. Enforce the rules and therefore reject payment to preorders greater than 180days, in which every preorder with greater release dates (which is almost everything nowadays) don't go through and someone else not using PayPal picks up the orders and those who use them miss out on the preorder madness.

3. Try to force distributors and businesses to only list preorders 180days in advance, which is up to individual businesses and most likely won't happen due to a lot of preorders are required way ahead so the business has a guaranteed order level for the item to viable to produce etc.. also issues with manufacturing delays etc.

Businesses will not list things late because they also want the guaranteed sale and also us collectors will scream blue that they are withholding orders to bump price if it's popular etc.

At the moment, the majority of people win. But if you're concerned, don't go to places that have been rumoured to not deliver. If you have to go there, expect it to be like a gambling experience, you might get the item, you may get it late, you may end up getting a store credit. Don't like you're chances and you've missed out on preorder madness, pay the market rate when it releases.... Unfortunately that's commercialism.

And yes, Bandai could make more units, but they don't care. They are only meant to make enough to satisfy the jap market. They are not going to risk making more when they have made enough units to reach their profit targets. The more they make the less the demand and if it sits in shelves, it ends up costing them in the long run. Us living overseas shouldn't even be able to buy these products if not for grey import rules.

upgrade shipping or cancel now. cancel while still within protection period if paypal is used
