With the way Bandai manages their releases, this might come out cheaper than buying a set of missiles separately. :p

wow this is dirt cheap. 20,000yen!?!

i hope all vf-1's going forward are this price point.

So.. I admit, I was actually joking about it being cheaper than buying a missile set for a VF-1 you already own..

But wow.

Granted, that's not accounting for the Tamashii Tax, but still.  Between the exchange rate and markup on the missiles, yeah, it's cheaper to do this than get a missile set, if all you want is the TV missiles.

Obviously, you don't get the DYRL boxes and RMS warheads.  But still.  Pretty funny.

All I'm really hoping is that this beats some sense into the blockheads responsible for the missile situation, and they make use of the adjusted packaging to give us TV missiles with all of the TV valks from here on out.

Being totally honest, I'm halfway tempted to sell one of my first release copies, and just trade it out for this one, since it will have the later mold improvements like the fixed nose cone.

Bandai-DX-VF-1-Release-Schedule-3-scaled

nice, with the yen rate as it is today, i think it's worth  it for 2,000yen more.

i do need the square box micro missiles though.

I reckon Bandai will be more greedy and re-release the strike packs to include the square missiles if they decide to do a repackage and perhaps include the mechanic parts that pretty much copies Yamato.

I'm still looking at those 1/48 Hasegawa missile sets sitting in a corner. I swear I'll get around to modding those.

I need to get on this as well, and develop a good pylon mod to get them to attach directly to the unmodified wing.

I'm almost kind of tempted to just mod the pylons themselves to attach to the Bandai weapons, but the Hasegawa ones are much more detailed.

I forget how many packs I actually picked up, but fortunately the number of missiles of different types works out pretty well for arming up a good number of valks at once, since the opening loadout from DYRL was two boxes and two dual reaction missile mounts, but Hikaru used four boxes in the finale.  I think you can equip the entire DYRL opening group and Hikaru's 1S with four missile sets, which leaves you enough TV missiles for pretty much all of the appropriate TV versions as well: Roy, Hikaru's 1J, Max's 1A, and the theoretical TV Kakizaki, if it ever happens.

Ja, The missile situation is pretty bad, even after three releases! And it's only going to get worse if they release a VF-1A Canon Fodder in the DX series without any missiles...

They had better come up with a better solution soon! 🤬

I don’t think it would be too difficult to give their future releases the appropriate missile load out, especially for TV releases. I can understand separate missiles for DYRL releases but for TV, it doesn’t make any sense at all to me. I could be wrong but I think every other manufacturer included missiles. Even if they bumped up the price a bit to include them, I think most collectors would still buy the release.

Missiles plus a flight stand for 2000 Yen is reasonable but it's a store exclusive so I don't think we should get too optimistic that it will set a precedent. Those things are what makes the exclusive special. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Yeah, I'm not terribly hopeful, but I'm just thinking of this in terms of what the path of minimal effort on Bandai's part will be, in terms of what changes they will need to make to the packaging going forward.

Just in terms of prior releases, the Angelbirds release gave us a box big enough to contain the bonus flight stand, and the normal stand tray was updated to contain the extra tails.

Assuming they use that box, and don't repackage the flight stand with missiles, the most likely option for where they will pack them is to re-design the normal stand tray to contain them in place of the extra Angelbirds tails.  That would give them a ready-made standard display stand tray capable of adding the TV missiles to any future release as a pack-in.

Will they actually do it?  Who knows.  What occurs to me though is that the TV missiles are the least labor intensive of the weaponry (no assembly and minimal paint/tampo), and adding them to future TV releases in a redesigned tray using an existing box is far cheaper than another production run of the full missile set.

The 50th release is a normal box with a flight stand so I'm hoping they can keep pulling that off. We'll find out soon!

Until then you may want to do a review of the two trainers!?.....🤗.....Please!

Since they proved they can do missile inclusions with the upcoming Store-Only release VF-1J, I feel they missed their chance to include chrome plated missiles on the 50th, that would have been cool. Maybe it had to do with plating perhaps being worn off during attachment/detachment.

I did buy silver chrome Gundam markers...I think.

At this point I don't mind having naked DX valks if I want fully loaded valks in 1/48 I have my Hasegawa fighters models

Quick! Mandrake has missiles for 21,000 yen, I'm just glad I got my last two for 14,000 but if I look at the Mandrake site they have sold at least 10 for 22,000 yen.... I think I'm good with 6 sets plus 4 TV super packs giving me missile for 22 VF-1's.

With this being a physical store exclusive and they only have 2 store locations(Osaka and Tokyo) how many do we think they will produce?

I don't recall if anyone ever got a general sense with the previous releases what the production numbers were. Obviously won't be 100K but I can't imagine something as low as 1K.

Since nobody knows the exact production numbers, my best guess is it's probably more than how many they sell during Tamashii Nations Events since those are exclusive to members or sometimes thru lottery.

Good thing though, it's being sold to everyone at the store and not for members exclusive. Think of it as a 'sold while supplies last'. ;)

It will suck in some ways if the white turns out to be the same as previous. I imagine many buyers would have gone in expecting it to be a different shade exactly as per pics.

the manual is now online, nothing special.

I want to see if its darker like the Takatoku 1/55 Gray, or if its lighter as in some of the more recent pics.

Yes, that's my basic question as well! Would skip it if it's just the stand and have to hunt one down if there is a colour difference....

Hopefully one of our Japanese members will grab one and take some comparison picks! Or somebody post it online....

Also hope the show something new at the event! 🤗

They are appearing online for sale now (but not released until the 15th).
Looks like 30k is the average opening salvo for resellers, which comes to about $200 US.
