How nice of Bandai to pre-yellow it for us. Now we won't be disappointed ~5 years from now. Get the disappointment out of the way at the start!

Ha. Thought the same at first.

I think I bought an extra GBP Hikaru and I still have the launch version so I already own 2 too many of this paint scheme.

I don't really mind having extras of this scheme, it just opens up alternate display options.

I just wish Bandai would.. you know..

They have teased exactly how many versions that we have seen nothing of since the original tease?  Seriously.  Just finish a line for once, Bandai.  I might even forgive you for abandoning Delta if you just give me the rest of DYRL Skull Squad, M&Ms, and finally give us a brownie VF-1A.

Same---still waiting for Max and Milia.  I refuse to buy any DX VF-1 before that.  Doesn't need a single new part, and can re-use 90% of the tampo printing. Just need new pilot names and modex numbers...

Hmm how to do a re-issue but make the tiniest of changes to not call it a re-issue?

On first impression, the base white looks very similar to Threezero’s weathering edition, except this doesn’t have any weathering. I do wonder why Bandai chose this shade of white..

If that's the gray we are getting i have a very bad feeling about this...kinda like Bandai will be reprinting all its VF-1 with his new grayish anime color...

Pure white more obvious yellowing right?

I hope with it coming with missiles they'll re-issue the missile pack too 🙏 They had pull out those molds.

I could understand just re-releasing the VF-1J with no missiles since they already were making the 50th variant version.

I think they got the gray right to mimic the Takatoku original release, but I sure as heck hope they consider selling this in BATTTROID mode, and with window cutouts

We've seen they can sell this thing in battroid mode, and they can do windows, so lets make this happen Bandai!image.png.00bbdd3054d04c391e8f66c88c0e2d23.png

It would be really cool if they used the old Takatoku stile packaging for this one!

It wouldn't make any sense from Bandai (if making sense is a Bandai thing) to change from white-grey to yellowish-grey given that TV series Valkyries where bright white.

Yamato V.2. TV release were white.

Arcadia oddly changed the off-white from DYRL to a bright white when they released the Roy and Hikaru Strike VF-1S.

Bandai also opted to make the latest TV Hi Metal R variants bright white.

I don't believe it's meant to be any sort of representation of the valks from the show...it's a tip of the hat to directly to the takatoku first release vf1j and 40 years of vf1's

At least that is what I think of the new color scheme.

Is this even being called an "anniversary" edition?  And if so, does someone want to explain why the 40th anniversary version is being released on the 42nd anniversary?

But yeah, no.  I see no reason to pick up another copy of this same valk at this point.  I want them to stop re-releasing existing ones and actually finish the freaking line already. <_<

Or you know.. re-release ROY.  Or how about a DYRL release, since that's the actual 40th anniversary this year?  Please, just try and do something that makes sense to the rest of the universe, Bandai, for crying out loud.

I'm not even waiting for a DYRL Roy at this point, I made my own with a swapped cockpit console, and a repainted spare Hikaru from a VT-1.  I think I prefer the TV-style tampo markings anyhow.

It doesn't really say Anniversary on the stand, but just since 1982, Although it would have been great if they included a chunky monkey for comparison!

and yes they could have done any other Valkerie, too celebrate Macross since 1982! Instead of the third release of this bird!? But I think Bandai just wants to torture their customers at the moment! 😈

Resources and slots could have been better served had Bandai released the Max VF-1J for the “50th Anniversary of Chogokin” and Miria as the “Since 1982 Commemorative”. Each without fast-packs which would later have been released as Tamashi Nation exclusives.

Total opportunity missed.

Just my two cents.

Maybe a silly question.. I know the TV releases all show dual ship markings for both the SDF-1 and Prometheus, which.. ok, that kind of makes sense, it's a combo ship.

But the thought occurred to me when dressing up my DYRL Roy hackjob in strike packs.. did they just never actually name the ARMDs?  Because... that's what the tails should say for the DYRL versions.  I also wish they'd painted them all with the TV style ship markings on the underside of the chest, rather than on the thighs, but I figure the thigh markings are going to be the first tampo marks I wind up rubbing off, since I tend to hold the valks right on that spot.

And maybe this is just a better question for a series/movie lore discussion.  I'm currently just wishing I could get a DYRL Max of any type so I could get the squad together, even if they're not all from the same scene.

Just seems really funny to me that the ARMDs don't seem to actually be named vessels, having nothing but what amounts to a registry designation.  Imagine if a carrier was just named "CVN-95" or something.

I honestly think they didn't think these things through in 1982-84, they just wanted to get the show with all the episodes needed out there! And could finish off the fine detail.

Today you would do things differently since a lot of people have internet and can do some research to look things up. but a lot of mistakes with numbers, names, and small details where made back then....

Would have also thought that since it's the 40th Anna of D.Y.R.L. Bandai would have used it to finish off the Skull Squadron at least!? But the love to torture us! 😈

I think that was the motivation for the VT-1 release at least, but whether that will lead to a VE-1, or any other DYRL release, is really a crapshoot.

2019. I actually don't mind now if they decide to release it by 2029. What's extra 5 more years of waiting, right?

I know it's probably blasphemy of some sort, but I'm kind of okay if they never release that one.  Would much rather have the brownie, since it's just more interesting.

I think once they do that one (please do the DYRL/TV double like the HMR Bandai), a DYRL Max (A or S, I'll take either) and the M&Ms, I'll be pretty well done.

Just give me a TV CF and I'll be happy until the bank account recovers. And just include the stupid missiles like they are doing on the upcoming Tamashi Nations VF-1J
Just include them already.
