The gun pods on Moscato's Glaug are a little large -- I'll grant you that -- but Hasegawa's are equally oversized, and weirdly detailed.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the pseudo-picatinny that Hasegawa added to the top of the guns. I don't hate them enough to get rid of them... probably... but they look like they took a weird dip into tacticool military aesthetic for a second there.

(Although... a Regult appears in Frontier or Delta, right? Maybe it's taking from the CGI model and that's an updated part of the design? I don't have any episodes on hand to verify at the moment...)

It is indeed the angle of the shot that distorts the RTKF dio's real proportions. That thing is just so big, and the lower angle looking up, combine to emphasize the arms and legs and makes the cockpit seem smaller than it is.

A 23cm height may be consistent with the official stats for a 1:72 Glaug, but your pilot would have to be 1:150 to fit in a cockpit that small! 😅

Rewatching the pilot episode a few months ago, I was bamboozled by the scene of a full-ass Zentraedi soldier basically bursting out the back of a Regult like a caterpillar shedding its skin. I think I've said before that I basically headcanon that all these setups have micronization tech inside to make the whole giant human in giant-er mecha thing work. But we know that's not it. Their universe relies on a far greater technology: intentionally loose animation standards.

Form these pics the moscato looks more elongated at the top than in the line art, while the Hasegawa looks a hair short. But I think if it bugs anyone, a simple bit of styrene sheet would elongate it that extra hair. Maybe just a trimmed bread clip in the back. The feet on the hasegawa definitely look more like the line art though. As far as the gunpods on the arms, the extra detail is kinda funky on the Hasegawa and totally pointless. Its not like they were gonna put an additional adjustable sniper scope on top. But that looks like a thin rectangular piece that could either be smoothed or replaced with some styrene sheet or possibly even just flipped around, although I’m sure there’s stuff on the other side needing to be smoothed.

Beyond that, I think both versions are great looking and both versions have a bit of give and take with accuracy and both do some different things with added details. I think anyone that can afford the Moscato version and owns it should be very happy with it and anyone like me that can’t, the Hasegawa kit looks really great as well

my only major complaint is the lack of articulation in the arms on the hasegawa version, and that might be an easier fix than I think depending on how big those ball pieces are in handIMG_3076.jpeg.7ac7aed4779d92a36eaa4e00e0551eb0.jpegI may still have a pack of white revoltech joints in various sizes that could work

Yeah, the last couple years, they’ve stepped up their booklets and it really helps with their color guides.

I am wondering if Hasegawa will reissue some of their Macross Delta kits. I wanted to get a Mirage VF-31C. A lot of them are listed as "Discontinued" on HLJ (which doesn't mean much though).

discontinued just means that they aren’t making anymore at the moment and may not have plans to do so for a bit, but that doesn’t mean they won’t in the future, for hasegawa, it’s just a matter of time before they recontinue production. And it may be soon since Delta is streaming in more areas than just Japan

yeah, I mean, they did a bunch of their limited boxes like the VF-0C and so on as well recently. Hope they do the VF-0A as well (or I just butcher one of my VF-0A/S w Ghost boxes).

I REALLY want to mount an ACOG or red dot onto those gun arms. Gimme my tacticool Glaug!

Maybe mount a bayonet on the underside as well

Well... I really like the Hasegawa offering. I don't see any problem.

Same here. I do however think I may add a little spacer for the faceplate, but that should be a super minor mod depending on the construction behind it. Not sure if I care enough to smooth out the top of the arm cannons, they don’t bug me much, but I might see if it would also be super simple.
I’m still super excited for it.

I'm excited for it, I'm glad Hasegawa is doing one alongside the Regults and Queadluun-Raus.

But I do think the front of the pod looks oddly shaped, and I really don't get the addition of the texturing on top of the weapon arms. I'll be too lazy to smooth out the arms, but I do wish they were smooth. Right now I feel like I'm looking at the front end of some pistols when I look at the arms.

I’m kinda wondering if it might just be a rectangular plate that could just be replaced with a flat piece of plastic. I kinda want to see the construction to see if it’s just that simple

@KOG Water Dragon I always saw pistols when I looked at the arms, but I know nothing about guns..

What I find the most upsetting is that the top of the cockpit is now a smooth curve without the little kink that the Imai model had 😬

Just add some spikes and chains for a little more kink, if that’s what you’re into

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1J Super/Strike Valkyrie 'Black Aces' is restocked if anyone needs one.

Thanks for the reminder. I saw that it was coming on social media and forgot to check earlier.
I was able to score one last year from a fellow MW'er. But I definitely need another one!

Glad I posted then!

I got one just now, so I'm up to 3. Hasegawa really knows how to move extra plastic by putting several build/decal options in one box.

Now that all the Queadluun Rau colors are done and basically all the pods except maybe a green recolor, I guess now they can do the movie Nousjadeul Ger or the tv versions of the armors or maybe give us a Gnerl

Awesome. I'm happy they're milking it.

Wow. To be honest I don't even remember this version. I guess I need to watch the movie again.

Definitely time to get the male power armor(s) done next. Though I'm not exactly how much needs redoing for them to get the TV versions of the Queadluun Rau out.

And then I guess I would expect some more variations of the VF-0 gerwalk.

The purple Queads in the movie are the UN Spacy Equivalent of the Cannon Fodder Tan vf-1s
Regular soldiers, with the Ace pilots always doing something different, like the Red Milia variation.

I don't ever recall seeing an Ace pilot Nousjadeul-Ger livery, but it would be interesting to explore one.
