I'm still waiting for them to pick up the ball and make a 1/48 YF-21 to match the YF-19. ^_^

Dropped a backorder for that 31A kit though, I missed out the first time.

Indeed. Actually I'm comparing YF-21 to real life YF-23 to see what can be done to model YF-21 out of this. And there is a 1/48 YF-23 :D

Did Hasegawa ever do a vf-4?  Seems like an odd omission since its such  beautiful plane.

I know wave did one but its proportions look off to me.

Not yet unfortunately, maybe one of these days.

If they had, I would be drowning in a pile of them right now...

The wave release is a VF-4G [same as Yamato, Arcadia, and the Bandai HMR], to date the only place to get a VF-4A [the proportions seen in FB2012] is the garage kit market.

Arcadia 1/60 VF-4A 'Flashback 2012' Premium Finish - Page 2 - Toys ...

Thanks to @jvmacross for the scan from the VF-4 Masterfile.

Thanks for the info. I guess  its me but the winglet looks too big to me in the wave model

Would there really be that much of a difference between the A and G? They're not a Hornet/Super Hornet situation... right?

Well:

Arcadia 1/60 VF-4A 'Flashback 2012' Premium Finish - Page 2 - Toys ...

IF this Masterfile pic is to be considered Canon, that wing is about 30% bigger surface area, and the engine nacelles are larger as well.

The Canards move forward, and I would assume the Vertical/Ventral stabilizers got bigger in proportion to the wing increase [but I can't tell from this angle]

the main fuselage [from the top-down silhouette anyway] seems to stay pretty much the same.

So bigger engines [need more fuel], bigger wings [to hold more fuel and possibly more munitions], and some tweaks and alterations to the positioning of things to keep it balanced...

Sounds like it's totally a Legacy-Vs-Super Hornet situation to me...

*edit* oh, and the head-units are different

Probably because it hasn't featured as the one of the main mechs in an anime yet.

Looks beautiful Tenjin san!

OK seriously, tell me there is a coffee book available full of just his artwork and nothing else. Because if there isn't then that's just a travesty

Looks like $30-$40 based on prices at Mandarake and Yahoo Japan.

Wtf!? Back in stock!? When?? How did I miss it!?

Well technically not available yet, the official release date for this kit is later this month unless it should get delayed. Keep an eye on that link and it should be available and easy to acquire.

Hey - nice info. Do you have the Master File? If yes, could you provide me with a higher resolution picture of the comparision and the side view of the VF-4A? I'd like to make a 3D model of that. :)

Most of the art is Tenjin San's Hasegawa model box art. HMR box art , some specials and promo's etc.

I can scan and send it tomorrow if you need it.
