I do prefer the movier version Meltrandi ships. I like those sharp, sleeker angles.

One sort of off topic question. Why do Hasegawa kits show the U.N.Spacy right side up on the gun pod when in battroid form? 🤔

I always figured they were that way because the gun pods, when belly mounted, were 'grip-up' so the logo was correct in that orientation.

Totally. That’s why the text should be upside down when held but instead the images show it right side up. Lol

I kinda like the fact that both groups have different style ships and Armor. It makes them appear as totally different species as they thought themselves to be. The more organic Zentran ships looking more alive and the more mechanical Meltran ships looking like something completely different, although I would’ve liked to have seen some variation in the Meltran mecha other than just the armors that would’ve been more angular to fit the looks of the ships a bit more

I've always assumed that it's a "how you like it" thing; I'm sure there are cels or illustrations featuring the UN Spacy logo upright in both battroid and fighter modes, and there's no hard and fast rule for prioritizing either orientation. Hasegawa's kits emphasize one particular form, so it makes sense that the lettering orientation would be whatever best fits that form. The 1/100 Wave kits, on the other hand, are meant to intermingle to a degree, so it makes sense there that the lettering orientation has to conform to one form or another, and product pics show they favor fighter mode.

(Meanwhile, the Bandai 1/72 transforming kit shows it upright in BOTH modes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
