MechTech Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 That came out great! A great build and finish. I can't tell you how many times I have had to mix custom paint for Macross models. That's my only beef with them, all those crazy colors. - MT Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 Thanks MT! No new progress yet - have been too busy casting and working on the Gnerl build Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 Lots of work needed to turn these unsellable parts into a Heavy Missile Carrier! It's worth it as I had to waste materials. Quote

Looks nice! If you get a chance.....can you take some pics of just the Regult kit and the Yamato v2 VF-1A side-by-side? They look like they scale pretty well....at minimum as well as the HMR Regult and VF-1do... Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) I don't have a kit built up right now but maybe Spanner can sort you out with some pics Edited December 28, 2017 by Return To Kit Form Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 Regult build ups continue with a new commission build. This time a Scout Pod in custom Subaru WRC colurs I'm still at the cleaning and prepping stage and with a bit of luck I can get this in primer in the next few days. - Brett Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) More work today messing around with the stance to be a bit dynamic. All flex points are pinned with 3mm brass rod for strength (including the foot base joint). The front toe is raised as a crushed vehicle will be placed underneath it. -Brett Edited January 7, 2018 by Return To Kit Form Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 More progress pics. Tamiya TS-54 laid down as a substitute for "Zentran Blue". After this hardens I'll mask up for the rest of the otherwise standard colours. Also I got some pictures of the finished base which has been tuned from Australian Red Gum especially for this build. I think it turned out great! - Brett Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 More progress. Grubby weathered engines. The story is that a Zentran team resprayed a scout they found in WRC blue but didn't bother with the rest. There Zentran why would they - if it works why fix it! The metallic blue will stay relatively fresh while everything else will be weathered. Enjoy! -Brett Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Tonight I mocked up the pod to the custom Red Gum base. Pretty happy so far. There is still more work to be done on the legs before I move onto all of the EW kit. Although eventually I am going to have to face up to fixing the paint issue on the top of the body - Brett Edited February 13, 2018 by Return To Kit Form Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Its been awhile between posts. I had a peeled paint issue on the main pod which required a full strip and repaint. Combined with a work trip away and picking up a bug at the airport and my modelling time was shot to pieces. But the build is back on track and tonight I started the weathering. - Brett Quote
arbit Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Some nice chipping there. I don't have the patience for such detail. Quote

I have been using the Rinaldi Studio SM.03 book as a guide: Some more progress on weathering. And I am in the process of getting these decals printed: Cheers, Brett Quote
MechTech Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 That's looking good Brett! Just seeing this now. The base is classy and the blue paint looked very "automotive" before adding the other colors. Great paint chipping. Nice sponsorship decals. They going on the pod? Just kidding! Looking good! - MT Quote

captain america Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Most impressive work, Brett! The chicken wire for rebar is very clever indeed and adds extra realism to an already beautiful build. Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 (edited) Thanks Cap! Hopefully I will ge able to use them. Here is the state of the base to date: - Brett Edited June 30, 2018 by Return To Kit Form Quote

Return To Kit Form Posted June 30, 2018 Author Posted June 30, 2018 (edited) Much mire progress on the base now that I am back. A couple of more nights and the I can finish up the pod. -Brett Edited June 30, 2018 by Return To Kit Form Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) One more session and I should have the base all wrapped up. - Brett Edited July 2, 2018 by Return To Kit Form Quote
mickyg Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Love the stop sign! So, do the scout parts fit into the regular grunt pod or is the pod part a significant change? Wondering if there's a "Scout upgrade" set available for the base Regult. Quote

The scout is a completely different kit to the rest of the line up. You can see the difference between the normal Regult and the scout kit here: - Brett Quote
Return To Kit Form Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 Latest build up. This kit was actually painted and assembled some time ago for the R2KF Advent Calendar gag a few years ago and I am only just getting to the weathering now. Painted in Tamiya acrylics with oil paint weathering using Mike Rinaldi's OPR techniques. Cheers, Brett T Quote
