It’s the Southern Cross portion of the series, silly.  He becomes a franchise spanning McGuffin around this time.  It’s all about Dana.

Ironically, this trash actually looks mildly interesting now, just by virtue of being something other than a desperate Macross clone with the serial numbers filed off, and I'm startled at the boldness in giving the lead to a "Masters Saga" character, and then acknowledging that she's in a really messed-up situation right now.  I actually find myself genuinely interested in The Epic Saga Of Sad Dana, though I have no doubt that the comic will only disappoint if I pick it up. And it looks like they're pivoting straight into "attack of the thirty-foot zombies", so ... nope.

 

And not gonna lie here... this feels like a legitimate Millia parental lesson(except for the fact that she was a terrible spy, too), and it makes me smile.

Days of Our Lives is totally plotless, its clearly made up by the actors as they go along. Ever notice how they always run out of things to say and end up staring into each other's teeth for 10 - 20 seconds between scene changes?

And its watched by people who aren't really paying attention.  Back in the days of VCRs I once recorded (and secretly edited) an episode for my sisters. The edited version had disjointed sentences strung together, and characters teleporting instantaneously across physical distances...none of which was even noticed

It's a bold move, trying to launch a new Robotech comic headlined by Robotech's most hated character... the leading lady once voted to be a drooling incompetent by three quarters of the Robotech fandom on the official franchise website.

Not a lot has actually changed... instead of being a Super Dimension Fortress Macross ripoff by way of afternoon soap operas, now we've got an Antarctic Press-style "who can we rip off this week" Macross sequel infringement extravaganza.

Titan Comics's take on Robotech is totally plotless, and clearly made up by the writers as they go along.  There are so many points where they've obviously run out of things to say or do with the story and end up grimacing oddly at the reader for a page or two.

It's not a brutal indictment, it's just the truth.

Seriously, the evil twin nonsense and having dead characters come back to life via incredibly contrived plots?  That's the kind of writing Days of Our Lives and other afternoon soaps are famous for.  Maybe this comic'll steal Dallas's ending and Rick Hunter'll blow his brains out in his bedroom.

So, just like Robotech then?  It's an old truism that Robotech fans are the ones who know the least about Robotech because they're not enamored with the series but with their own fan-fiction.

Discotek Media has the license.  They released the series on DVD in the US a few years back.

True, one of the defining aspects of Titian Comic’s run with Robotech so far might as well be having no disregard for the source material (and the ACTUAL source material) to try and make an original story.  If there isn’t a grand strategy that they are striving for at the end, many, many years from now, I’d say they are just digging a hole for themselves that they may not be able to get out of.  Then again, Furman and everyone else working on the first comic book got out easy by just handing off that burden to the Remix staff.  If they were working under extreme handicaps to make something resembling Macross, imagine the handicaps this Southern Cross remake is under.

So yes, they were willing to sacrifice Minmay and everyone should be fair game at this point.

Just want to be sure, Remix is supposed to be a continuation of the first comic series and not a self contained story with an extreme tonal shift, right?

HG tried to "Macross-ize" Genesis Climber MOSPEADA with Robotech: the Shadow Chronicles... and it went over like a lead balloon.

Let's see if trying to "Macross-ize" Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross goes any better for them, considering it's even less popular with Robotech fans than MOSPEADA was.
