Lorindor Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 At HG's SDCC panel, they even said "more than 90 cm". I just measured the height of my shelves and I don't have any display area where it would fit. But given the price on their VF-1 cockpit, I will probably not be able to afford this anyway... Quote
007-vf1 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 this thing is still a beauty. Glad that a company brought it at all. Let's hope it becomes true Quote

Dynaman Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Is that a trick of the camera? The coloring just looks wrong. The one at the top is awesome however. Quote
dizman Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Hah no it just really looks that bad. The kidslogic one does look good so far though. Quote
anime52k8 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Honestly, I'm not that impressed. The proportions just look off to me; The main gun booms and chest are too small, the head is too big and the legs are too long. Quote
jenius Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 That sounds like a perspective issue... we will need more pics. Quote

505thAirborne Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 If the super cute girl comes with this SDF-1, I'm on board for this!! Quote
derex3592 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I really do not care for the look of this thing at all...it's just...off. Quote
UN Spacy Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Limited to 800...1.1 meters tall....stupid gimicks....odd sculpt. Most likely overpriced like their 1/6th scale cockpit. No thanks...would rather use that money for an Arcadia or Bandai product. Quote
jenius Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 It's like they want to find sizes and prices that no one wants. If it was half the size it'd probably be something to consider. Quote
JetJockey Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I thought it was cool, then I read "smoke effect" and had a bad feeling as I remembered an old high end toy train I used to own. That had a smoke thing where you had to pour water in it. I don't think that ended well and I found the train busted up in the basement. This needs more details too like VFs and stuff from the movie. Quote
seti88 Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 I remember olde train sets which had smoke coming out too, except we didn't need to pour water in. And smelt of burning metal for some reason! thanks for jogging the memory jetjockey... Back to the statue, perhaps the main appeal will come when this sucka is switched on at nite....i thk this would look great with over 200 Leds! And smoke! Lol... Quote

When I found it I thought the water went in the chimney. I didn't see any other spot. It had a light up coal area too. Sometimes these effects are too much. Especially if something goes wrong and they stop working. I would like a good large scale Macross / Robotech piece though and I have a feeling a good one will come out in the future. Quote
Gerli Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I want one to hang my coats... maybe the Daedalus can open the bow and store a umbrella... Quote
JB0 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) The smoke effect in this case is PROBABLY an ultrasonic humidifier. Just think of how awesome that'd be on those dry winter days! 5 hours ago, jenius said: It's like they want to find sizes and prices that no one wants. If it was half the size it'd probably be something to consider. They only need to find a few takers to turn a profit. Though those 800 units may be kicking around for a bit. I do agree, though. It's pretty cool, but just too big. I'm also generally cynical about "limited to xxx pieces" productions. In this case, that's probably taking the fact that they won't move many and turning it into a selling point. Edited July 25, 2017 by JB0 Quote
Focslain Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 This thing is just under 4ft tall and I thought Forgeworld had the market cornered on insanely large models. If this thing is under three grand I'll eat a hat. Quote

sh9000 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 This would be cool in the background displayed with HMR but it'll probably be way too expensive. Quote
derex3592 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 It's to big....it's too expensive(probably).....it's weird looking....it has smoke???...whyyyy???? and they mentioned 200 lights, but then didn't show it lit up...FAIL. PAAAASSS---NEXT! Quote

Lorindor Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 If I had the money and display space, this would be a sure buy. But you can't have everything in life. Quote
jvmacross Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 You think they ripped off the old Arii 1/5000..... Or the Imai 1/8000.... Quote
derex3592 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) You know.....I think you're on to something with that...it does look like they took a lot of styling ques from those two kits. Edited July 26, 2017 by derex3592 Quote
TheLoneWolf Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I'm not a fan of all the extra, random details that are on that SDF-1. And the fact that you can't transform it makes it an easy pass for me. Quote
