So they only charge you 300 yen for the proxy service??? Really?

Yeah it's a very reasonable commission and the customer service is top notch.

If only they didn't charge that pesky conversion fee!  But I can't complain too much as it will work out to around $585 usd shipped which is slightly more than HLJ before shipping.

Does Zen Market charge you right away, or when the pre-order ships?

Posted

You have to pay the list price and commission straight away.

Domestic and international shipping costs are paid when the item actually ships.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info!

Nice price. That's more in line with what I was expecting to pay before shipping.

If the regular stores can't beat that, then I'm going to go with From Japan. I have some points to spend there which will offset the cost.

I requested a quote from From Japan as well but haven't heard back yet.

I'm curious as to what their quote will look like because they don't charge a conversion fee and I've had good experiences with them, though their customer service isn't as quick or thorough as Zen Market.

Misunderstood FJ pricing

I'm curious as to what their quote will look like because the site says they charge 5000 JY for their "personal shopping" service.

If that's correct then ZM may be the best price.

Anyone know of another proxy that doesn't charge conversion fees and has a reasonable commission?

Yuck. That would stink if FJ charges their personal shopping fee for Arcadia's on-line shop order. I didn't think of that.

I thought the fee only applied to walk-in store or event purchases.

Apologies I misunderstood what I read on their site. I believe you're correct, that 5000 fee is for items you can't find online.

It should be the standard 300 or 700 JY plan fee plus list price plus domestic and international shipping.

With no conversion fees it should work out to be around 570 USD shipped; less than or equal to list price at HLJ before shipping.

Let us know.  It's kind of sad we're back to using proxy services because the online places sell out for web-exclusives.

This was a fail by Arcadia.  Obviously all the demand was for the premium.  Make only the premium, charge less than this but more than the standard version, sell more, make more money.

Yeah Arcadia seem to be making bizarre choices with regard to products and release dates.

How well/secure do they package items?  Do they use EMS?

Well I missed that PO with HLJ. I have to admit though at $575.00 plus postage is just a bit out of my league.

I've got the normal version on PO, and I'll go the customizing route with mine.

Either way I want a 1/3000 SDF-1 in my collection and this will still be perfect! B))

That can't be the total.  They show no shipping within Japan, can't be right.  Though it is a good deal.  If you can find out what the total might be I might jump on these guys even if I have to scrounge up money so soon.

The 505thAirborne PERFECT EDITION.

And I missed the pre-order at HLJ too, this after waking up at 2 am and staying up for just under an hour. The price is incredibly hard to justify, but I was/am willing to pay it because I have zero skill and even less inclination to try and customize the regular edition myself.

I have a lot of thoughts on whether or not I really need/want an SDF-1 back in my collection, but it all boils down to if I can secure a pre-order at a site like HLJ. If I can, "sweet", but if not, "no big deal".

So there's no telling what sort of ridiculous markup there will be there.

In my experience there is no markup on shipping with From Japan or Zen Market. You will be charged for whatever the package actually weighs.

I'm guessing it will be around 1500 yen domestic and 5900 yen EMS.

According to Hobby Search the toy itself weights about 1750g so if the package weighs less than 2500-3000g it's 5900 yen for EMS shipping.

Actually, i believe it's free domestic shipping from Arcadia. THis is what it says when you add to cart from Arcadia website:

カゴの中の商品の合計金額は「53,784円」です。 現在、「送料無料」です!!

That means the 53,784 is the entire cost. Free shipping now. Not sure if the free shipping part will be removed later though.

If this is true then it should be close to 550 USD shipped from From Japan:

(list price + proxy fee + EMS) / rate = total

(53784 + 300 + 59984) / 109 = 550

Guess it may not be too bad that some folks missed the PO at HLJ after all lol we shall see

Has anyone else bought through Zen Market before? I've never heard of them before today. Buyee's service doesn't extend to Arcadia.

WIth Zen Market, don't forget the payment gateway fees, from the fee summary page:

Are there any payment gateway fees?

Payment gateway fees depend on the payment method you choose.
- For payments made by credit cards, and debit cards (via Stripe) the processing fee is 3.35% of the payment amount.
- The Alipay processing fee is - 3%.
- When paying via an international bank transfer (SWIFT wire transfer), JPY 2,000 is charged by our bank and there will probably be additional fees charged by your bank or the intermediate bank. These fees are not disclosed, therefore, it’s not estimated beforehand.

So add 3% or 3.35% on top of total.

From Japan will be 3% cheaper because they don't charge a currency conversion fee.

I mentioned this in my previous post. I've purchased from them a number of times with no issues.

Received a refund on my deposits with no issues either.

From Japan is typically cheaper but their customer service isn't as responsive as Zen Market.

I've never bought anything via FromJapan other than off of YahooAuctions.  How do you request something from Arcadia's website?

Because folks are having a tough time with fees and math (my estimates):

  From Japan Zen Market
List Price 53784 53784
Proxy Fee 300 300
Domestic Shipping Free per Arcadia Free per Arcadia
EMS International Shipping 5900 5900
Total 59984 59984
Exchange Rate 109 105.73
Total Shipped USD 550.31 567.33

Copy the arcadia link and paste it into their search box, click "Search", click, "request a quote".
